Keyoh Shows No Pride During Tag Team Betrayal

Keyoh Shows No Pride During Tag Team Betrayal

Posted: Jun 16th 2009 By: CMBurnham

From hindsight, it seems like something was almost destined to go wrong.

Ky-Ote Joe believed that he had everything in place in order for himself and partner Kunna Keyoh to finally end the 1-year reign of NWA-OK Oklahoma Tag Team Champions High Society. For 4 months, they had chased Al Farat and Thomas Trump all over Oklahoma. And the last time they were in Ada, it seemed they had won the tag team championship until NWA-OK commissioner Randi Lynn was forced to return the belts because Mike Manos (who had made the 3-count when referee Danny Hunt was rendered unconscious) was not a liscensed referee. At that point, Joe was outraged and challenged High Society to a No DQ match in thier return to Ada. The champions agreed and Farat even insisted that Mike Manos be appointed the special guest enforcer.

After three long months, the opportunity finally came for Native Pride. All the frustration, all the suffering, all the "so close it hurts" moments would finally pay off for them. Or so it seemed. For little did Joe know that when he left without the tag team championships this time, it wouldn't be because of Farat or Trump, but because of his own partner.

In typical fashion, High Society started the show in a bragadocious manner, making various promises about how they were going to "hand Native Pride their asses". Farat even pointed out Mike Manos in the crowd and promised to put his hands on him "started anything." The crowd took all this in stride as they fully expected the stipulations of the match to finally bring an end to the champions' reign of terror.

As was expected, the match soon broke down into an uncontrollable brawl and there was little referee Sylvia Richmond could do about it. Al Farat took full advantage of the No DQ stipulation and flagrantly used his spike on the head of Joe and Keyoh. But Joe eventually wrested it from Farat's grasp and returned the favour, much to the shock of "The Crimson Prince". At that point, the match spilled out of the ring and into the surrounding area. Farat battled up into the stands while Trump and Keyoh claimed the ringside area. Various objects such as soda cans, the ring ramp and a broom were introduced to the match, all used by Native Pride on the members of High Society. Eventually, the participants made their way back into the ring and it seemed like only moments before the inevitable ending.

Joe put one of the champions down, then went to tag his partner, who walked away without explanation. As Joe stared on, hand outstretched and confused look on his face, Keyoh returned and spit a mysterious red substance in the face and eyes of Joe. Joe collapsed to the mat and Keyoh demanded the microphone. He told the crowd that he belonged in the Hardcore division and didn't want to tag with "a loser". After grabbing a chair and annhilating Joe, Keyoh left and Al Farat, who was just as stunned as the rest of the audience, scrambled to make a cover and got the three count.

Mike Manos entered the ring to check on Joe and High Society decided to take some aggression out on him, beating him down and hitting him with a chair to the throat. At this point, Javi Hernandez and The Masked Renegade Kowboy made their way to ringside and told Farat that they were the next team to challenge the champions for the titles. And as Mike Manos was assisted from ringside, he told the crowd that when Ky-Ote Joe returned, he would have "a new partner".

Obviously, the partnership between Kuna Keyoh and Ky-Ote Joe is a thing of the past. Keeyoh has a legitmate history as a hardcore competitor, as he was proclaimed the Lifetime Violent Division Champion in 3DW. But Joe is no slouch when it comes to hardcore competition either as he was the very first UWF06 Violent Division Champion. If NWA-OK is open to instating a Hardcore Division, it seems apparent who the first two competitors will be. And with the bad blood simmering between them, the only winner that might be determined in their matches is the person who is still breathing when they're over.
