Yankees Star C. C. Sabathia Gets A Gift From Jerry "The King" Lawler

The Yankees received a major upgrade to the plastic WWE championship belt that Johnny Damon awards to the player of the game after victories. After hearing of the practice, wrestling legend Jerry "The King" Lawler sent a replacement belt to his friend, CC Sabathia.
The belt, which weighs about 10 pounds and is the kind used during the WWE's shows, arrived on Friday. Sabathia said it is a placeholder until Lawler can have a belt made that features the Yankees' interlocking NY logo.
Sabathia's son is a huge wrestling fan and Lawler is a big fan of the Indians. The former wrestler and the big lefty have been friends for several years. Whenever the WWE came to Cleveland, Lawler made sure to take Sabathia and his son backstage.
Through the years, it hasn't been uncommon for star athletes, such as Lawrence Taylor, to make appearances at wrestling shows. But outside of maybe ringing the bell to start matches, Sabathia said he'll steer clear.
"No way," Sabathia said. "I'll never get in there. Ever."
