Wayne King, chairman of the 10th Congressional District Republican Party, announced that 16-time World Heavyweight Wrestling Champion Ric Flair will be on hand at Thursday morning's District GOP fundraiser in Kings Mountain featuring former Arkansas Governor Mike Huckabee. Flair was a strong supporter of Governor Huckabee's presidential campaign last year and made several appearances on his behalf in North and South Carolina.

Ric Flair, known as "The Nature Boy" is regarded as one of the greatest professional wrestlers of all time, having entertained fans since his pro debut in 1972. A resident of Charlotte, Flair is known for his signature interview style always ending with his trademark "Whoooo!" Throughout the 1980s and much of the 1990s, Flair, along with Tully Blanchard, and Arn & Ole Anderson thrilled fans as the "Four Horsemen." Just before retiring last year, Flair was inducted into World Wrestling Entertainment's Wrestling Hall of Fame. He remains active in the industry as a personality and promoter.

"We are thrilled to have a world-wide name in sports entertainment, Ric Flair, to introduce Governor Huckabee," commented King. "Like many in this region, I grew up watching Ric Flair and have always admired the fact that he always has time for his fans. His work on behalf of Republican candidates is well-known and we look forward to welcoming him on Thursday morning."

The breakfast, which is now sold-out, will be held at 8:30 a.m. at the H. Lawrence Patrick Senior Life & Conference Center located at 909 E. King St. in Kings Mountain. Nearly 400 attendees are expected.
