Beer Money Forced To Face The Consequences In OKC

Beer Money Forced To Face The Consequences In OKC

Posted: May 25th 2009 By: CMBurnham

TNA made its triumphant return to Oklahoma City May 21, but not every member of the roster will have fond memories of the visit. In what many people considered the match of the night, Beer Money, Inc. suffered an embarrassing set of humiliations, culminating in their loss to the team of Lethal Consequences.

James Storm & Robert Roode started the night off on what they thought would be the path to victory. After their introduction, Roode took the microphone and proceeded to announce that Beer Money had arrived. He said they had traveled all over the world, but had come to the conclusion that Oklahoma City was the "stinkiest, smelliest, most disgusting place on Earth!" At that point, James Storm took the mic and said that he was going to have to disagree with Roode, which prompted a cheer from the crowd. He said that he was a southerner himself and Oklahoma City was "a helluva place...if you were toothless!" Not happy with being duped into believing that they had found an ally, the crowd again unleashed a torrent of unpleasant chants in the direction of the former TNA World Tag Team Champions. Storm continued to rile up the audience by saying that they gave rednecks a bad name, which prompted a huge "You suck!" chant from the fans.

At that point, "Living In America" played and Lethal Consequences made their way to the ring, dancing and celebrating with the crowd. When Consequences Creed entered the ring, he began to look through the crowd and spotted an older woman, who he motioned to the ring barricade and embraced. Then, the match as on and Creed and Jay Lethal began to mentally take Beer Money apart.

On several occasions, it appeared that Roode and Storm were not on the same page as they were repeatedly put into "compromising positions", usually with James Storm's face near Robert Roode's crotch. After about 3 of these, Storm went over to Roode and jammed his hand straight into Roode's tights, pulling out a rolled up pair of socks. Roode could only stand and look embarrassed as Creed grabbed the microphone and prompted a "Bobby stuffs!" chant. This only agitated Roode and Storm attempted to calm him down by wiping sweat from his brow...with the aforementioned sock! Roode was infuriated and the crowd ate it up. But Roode & Storm had had enough and decided to settle things between themselves by wrestling each other. Jay Lethal backed referee Earl Hebner out of the way and it seemed that an impromptu battle of the tag team partners was on. But when they went for the initial collar-and-elbow tie-up, the bypassed that and went straight in to hug each other. Lethal decided that wasn't enough and grabbed each partner, knocking their heads together.

The tide of the match turned shortly after that as Lethal was isolated by Beer Money. James Storm even put on his cowboy hat and mocked Lethal's mannerisms. After several minutes of taking a beating, Creed made the tag in and the match began to come to its conclusion. Lethal was dumped outside the ring and James Storm grabbed his beer bottle, taking a huge swig and filling his mouth. While Roode held Creed with his arms behind his back, Storm positioned himself to spit the beer in Creed's face. But Creed ducked and the beer went straight in the eyes of Robert Roode. Creed then rolled Storm up for the pin and the victory.

During the celebration, the same woman that Creed had embraced at the beginning of the match was ushered into the ring and Creed announced to the crowd that it was his grandmother! All 3 began to dance and celebrate the victory and they even convinced Earl Hebner to bust a few moves as well.

Despite this loss, Beer Money is well positioned in the tag team picture in TNA. This past Sunday, they won the Team 3-D Tournament, earning a large check from the TNA World Tag Team Champions and a guaranteed title shot sometime in the future. Beer Money told Brother Ray & Brother Devon that they respected them, but were coming to take back their tag team titles. If they achieve that goal, you can bet that Lethal Consequences will be right behind, prepared to take the new champions down.
