South Siders Show Their Greatness On Demand

South Siders Show Their Greatness On Demand

Posted: Jan 11th 2009 By: mikeiles

Former MSWA Mid-South Tag Team Champions The South Side Soul Assassins have had a difficult 6 months. Many rumours circulated that the team was not getting along and that a split was imminent. Several miscommunications during key matches, including tag team title shots against The Forsaken, only seemed to back up that idea. But the Tyson Jaymes & SWCW Champion 3rd Rail always seemed to pull things together and have made it intact into 2009. Now, they face an arrogant new combination who are intent on making their reputation at the South Sider's expense.

On December 21, MSWA ring announcer Milton Winkelman came to the ring after intermission and announced that one of the fans was celebrating his 12th birthday. He brought a cake to the ring with him and called the youngster into the ring to celebrate. As he led the crowd in a chorus of "Happy Birthday", Greatness On Demand arrived to interrupt the procedings. They ejected Winkelman and then proceded to have a little "celebration" of their own, most of which involved cuel comments directed towards the birthday boy. The shenanigans concluded with Damon Windsor trying to throw the birthday cake into the face of the boy, but instead receiving a kick in the crotch from the 12-year old, which caused Windsor to put the cake into the face of his partner, SWCW Cruiserweight Champion Rage Logan. As soon as the frosting was cleared from Rage's eyes, the music of the South Side Soul Assassins hit and the popular duo emerged from the locker room, barely able to control their laughter.

The scheduled match between the duos then took place, with 3rd Rail slightly distracted (but excited) by the remnants of the cake in the ring and on Rage's tights. That distraction didn't cause too many problems and the South Siders were able to rack up a victory against the up-and-coming duo.

This past Sunday, both teams were matched up against each other in singles competition. The first pairing to face off were 3rd Rail and Damon Windsor. Windsor was looking for some revenge, having lost a #1 contender's match for Rail's SWCW Title to Kevin James Sanchez the night before. As the match began, both men's partners remained at ringside for encouragement. But while Tyson remained a calming voice of reason on the sometimes unpredictable Rail, Rage was constantly looking for opportunities to stick his nose in. Eventually, Tyson could not take any more and simultaneously punched Rage (outside the ring) and tripped Windsor (inside the ring). This caught the attention of the referee, who promptly ejected Jaymes from ringside, but allowed Rage to remain. 3rd Rail would eventually be lured outside the ring by both members of Greatness on Demand and would not be able to return to the ring before Windsor, resulting in a loss by countout. This upset Rail so much that he refused candy from the ringside fans as he stormed back to the dressing area.

An irate Rail was no one to mess with and when it came time for Rage Logan & Tyson Jaymes to face off against each other, Ringmaster Randy was not going to take any chances. He ejected both 3rd Rail AND Damon Windsor before the match started, allowing for a completely fair match. And that fair match went the way of Tyson. But the issues between the teams didn't stop then. Both partners emerged from the dressing areas after the bell rang, but Windsor was so focused on getting to his partner that he didn't notice 3rd Rail walking out behind him. Windsor picked up Logan and backed away from the ring, then turned around and ran straight into Rail! The shocked "Playboy" couldn't react quickly enough and dropped his partner on the floor in fear as he stared at the face of the 400-pound monster. Tyson then told the fans that he was going to leave the ring and he stepped out on the opposite side of where Windsor and Rail were located. This effectively sandwiched Windor between the South Siders and a panicked "Playboy" had to make a desperate choice. He quickly dashed back to where he had dropped his partner and scooped him up again, then took off running past Rail on his way to the side exit. But again, the fear seemed to overtake him and he tripped over his own feet, once again dropping his partner on the concrete floor. After helping Logan to his feet, the battered teammates stood up and ran for their lives to the side exit while Tyson & 3rd Rail laughed at their opponents' frustrations.

The South Siders may be lauging now, but they are experienced to know when to get serious. And Greatness On Demand may be an arrogant name, but they tend to back it up. Windsor & Logan may have been embarassed at the start of the new year, but they won't sit back and allow that embarassment to continue without fighting back. Both teams would love to get their hands on new MSWA Mid-South Tag Team Champions T. M. S. And when it comes to the tag team champions, it's no laughing matter.
