Draven Prepares To Trim ComPro Champ Down To Size

Draven Prepares To Trim ComPro Champ Down To Size

Posted: Dec 3rd 2008 By: CMBurnham

Draven Cross made an immediate impression on ComPro fans when he was fortunate enough to draw #30 and win the Oklahoma Stampede, earning a shot at the ComPro Title held by Pork Chop.

Cross had been noticeably absent from ComPro for about 2 months. Since dominating El Super Colibri in a David-vs-Goliath feud (this time with Goliath winning), Cross took quite a bit of time off. He was silent on the ComPro message board as well, only making his presence noticed again the week of the Stampede.

Cross' manager, Stevie Caballero, had been in negotiation to bring Cross back to ComPro and saw a perfect opportunity to do so at the Oklahoma Stampede. As in past years, the winner of the Stampede earns a shot at the ComPro title and 30 different stars from ComPro and other federations (4 of which were making their ComPro debut) had their eyes set on the prize as they entered the ring.

During the course of the Stampede, some noticeable events took place. The Canadian Red Devil had confronted ComPro owner Mike Two the previous week demanding a shot at the ComPro title as retribution for what he felt was an abandonment when Pork Chop left during their match against Legion 13. Mike Two said that he wouldn't give the Devil a title match, but would make him #1 in the Stampede, where he could earn a title shot. Devil would last the entire event (taking a few breaks along the way, much to referee John the Encourager's confusion) before being eliminated by Draven.

Tyson Armstrong made a good showing for himself when he entered at #5. He cleared the ring of everyone except for the Devil and held on for quite a while before being the 4th man eliminated.

Boss Campbell & TAP Champion Cast-Iron Cothern entered together at 10 & 11, but as soon as Shane Morbid was announced at #14, Cothern left the ring (although not over the top rope) and refused to re-enter the ring, going so far as to leave the building in his tights out the front exit. Boss Campbell wanted nothing to do with Shane either and crawled over the top rope to eliminate himself. Shane went on to have a family reunion of sorts when his cousin Jake McCoy entered at #20 and Bloated Floaters stood together on the same side for the first time in almost 4 years. While they didn't work together much, they did embrace at the point of Jake's entrance to the match.

MWA Champion Tim Rockwell entered at #16 and took a long time to enter the ring. Rockwell had already had a bad night as he teamed with SWCW Tag Team Champions The New Varsity Club and lost to the Good Ol' Boys & Kobra Kai. This led to a post-match beatdown until Mike Two called it off by bringing out Pork Chop. Stevie took the mic at that moment and announced that he had a surprise for Pork Chop in the Stampede, ending his comments by saying that, "If you wanna move a mountain, bring a bulldozer."

That bulldozer arrived after Rockwell had been eliminated from the match. Caballero helped his man to the back, then just prior to the arrival of #30, he reemerged and stood to the side of the ring entrance. When the time was right, he took the microphone and announced the arrival of Draven Cross back to ComPro. Everyone stopped as Draven entered the ring. There were still several heavy hitters in the match, including Bud Barnes (at 400 lbs), Kevin Morgan & Shane Morbid. They were no match for Draven. He annihilated them one at a time, handling each with ease, even Barnes.

The final 4 came down to Draven, Justin Lee & both members of New Canada. Justin tried to use some high-flying moves, but got picked up and disposed of over the top. New Canada went for the double team moves, but even that wasn't enough. And while it appeared at the end that the Devil might have what it took to somehow get Draven over the top, it just didn't turn out that way. The Devil struggled to keep from being thrown over, but Tim Rockwell emerged with the cowbell and hit the Devil, causing his elimination and allowing Draven to win the match. Stevie Caballero was ecstatic and jumped in the ring to celebrate. Pork Chop, who had been sitting at ringside observing the entire match, also stepped in the ring and a gigantic (perhaps mammoth?) staredown took place in the centre. Without taking his eyes off of Draven, Pork Chop raised the ComPro title for all to see, signifying that that was the prize to be decided in their gigantic battle next week.

If Pork Chop can make it past Draven, he will have surmounted an obstacle that no one expected to be overcome. Pork Chop has always relied on his size and power to get past his enemies, but he will have neither as an advantage against Draven. If Draven is able to win, Stevie will have the distinction of being the first person to manage wrestlers to all 3 ComPro Championships.

This gigantic championship match takes place Saturday, December 6th at the final ComPro event of 2008 as part of the tenth Night of Champions.
