Hasta La Vista, Ray! VIP Crew Pulls A Fast One On ComPro Owner

Posted: Sep 10th 2008 By: CMBurnham

38 years ago, Gerald Ford began his presidency by announcing that "our long national nightmare is over." ComPro fans can now say the same thing about their federation as Ray Martinez was expelled from power last Saturday, due to some inside work on the part of senior referee Mike Two, ComPro Tag Team Champions the Hawaiian Shirt Mafia and NWA World Champion Brent Albright.

The work was so covert that many long-time fans and wrestling journalists were convinced that ComPro Tag Team Champion Rocco Valentino had legitimately joined Ray and was prepared to sacrfice his relationship with the fans as well as the traditions of Tulsa-based wrestling in order to further his personal goals. And Mike Two, thanks to his probationary management position, had called in the one person who could put Rocco in his place: his former VIP Crew mate Brent Albright. No one knew Rocco better and no one had a better likelihood of beating Rocco and saving ComPro.

Both Valentino and Albright posted video promos about their match on the ComPro website and anticipation grew all week. Neither man made an appearance before the main event was announced, getting focused and prepared. Ray Martinez, however, had to announce the matches and his usual bravado was shaken because he knew that Brent posed a serious threat. His only hope was that Rocco's tag team championship partner Dutch Hagen had been appointed the special referee.

Both men came to the ring prepared to do battle and after a few minutes of action, Rocco went for a leapfrog over Brent and collapsed in the ring, clutching his knee. He writhed in apparant pain on the mat while Brent and Dutch tended to him. Two more referees came out to look to Rocco and Brent went so far as to call to Rocco's wife Susan to come into the ring and assist in helping Rocco out. But Rocco chose that moment to reassert his offence, seemingly catching Brent offguard and driving him out of the ring, where he beat the champion on the ground. He knew he had this opportunity to win the NWA World Title and wasn't going to let "The Shooter" get any easy blows in.

The match went back into the ring where Rocco worked on Brent's neck and back. Brent eventually recovered and ducked an attempt by Rocco to use "Mr. Spikey" on him, resulting in Dutch Hagen being knocked out of the ring and incapacitated. This brought Mike Two to the ring to continue officiating the match. Where Dutch would make no count when Brent had Rocco pinned, but yet make quick two-counts when Rocco had Brent down, Mike called it straight down the middle.

In the closing moments of the match, Rocco put Brent into his own signature move, the Fujiwara armbar. But Brent escaped and put the submission move on Rocco. Rocco screamed in pain and Ray went over to try and give encouragement. Rocco motioned for the microphone and then announced over the intercom that he had a message from Romero Contreras. That message was "Screw you, Ray!" That said, Rocco tapped out. The match was over, Ray was deposed and Mike Two ascended to the top of ComPro.

It had all been a ruse since the beginning. Rocco and Mike contacted Brent to bring him in as a surprise. Rocco & Dutch joined La M to destroy it from the inside. Mike picked an opportune moment to get Ray's signature on the proper legal documents. Everything had been well coordinated and planned.

After winning the match, Rocco asked Anthony Jackson, who had been in the crowd for the show, to throw Ray out of the building. Jackson made his way to the ring, gave Ray a nut-shot and then took him out the back entrance, throwing him against the fence surrounding the arena. Rocco then thanked the fans who never stopped believing in him and turned the ring over to Brent. Brent told the audience that he wished he could come back and wrestle more often, but the demands of being NWA World Champion kept him away. He hoped to return soon and would never forget wrestling in front of the Tulsa fans.

This Saturday, Mike Two assumes full control of ComPro. Ray has been removed as the ring announcer and a new voice of ComPro will be revealed. But Ray's reduced duties might allow him to prepare for the challenge facing his lone remaining La M member, ComPro Champion Jesus Rodriguez. Pork Chop was named the #1 contender to his title. That title is the last bit of power that Ray possesses control over in the company. If Rodriguez loses his grip on that, the era of Ray Martinez & La M will have finally come to a crashing end.
