Fox Has No HATE For NWA-OK

Fox Has No HATE For NWA-OK

Posted: Jun 19th 2008 By: CMBurnham

Over a year ago, Hate, Inc. ruled NWA-U. Christopher Fox led his group of thugs to the top of the federation that he owned, bring the NWA-U Oklahoma Title to Slam Shady and the NWA-U Universal title first to himself and then to Rocco Valentino. But when you're on top, the only place to go is down. And that's where Fox found himself after May 17, 2007. Slam Shady was still the Oklahoma Champion, but there was growing tension between himself and Hate, Inc. as Shady became more and more of a fan favourite. Rocco Valentino found himself forced to face his cousin Brent Albright for the NWA-U Universal title and Valentino was so sure of himself that he vowed to retire if he was defeated. Fox, also certain of Valentino's success, promised to leave NWA-U, the federation he had created, if Valentino was defeated.

To sum it up, Albright won, Valentino retired and Fox left the company.

That was then, this is now.

June 13 saw the return of NWA-OK, the predecessor of NWA-U, to their old stomping grounds of Tahlequah. Ironically, the last show Chris Fox promoted under the NWA-OK banner took place in Tahlequah. So it was a return to familiar sites and the main event was a title unification match between Slam Shady and Brent Albright.

One man who had been out of the picture for a while was Charming Charles. Charles and Fox had worked together to bring Rocco Valentino into NWA-U, but Charles was absent the night that NWA-U collapsed. Charles wasn't absent this night and had already led his new charges, Thomas Trump and MSWA Mid-South Champion Al Farat to the vacant NWA-OK Oklahoma Tag Team Championship. But that wasn't enough for Charles, who came out to the ring after the introductions had been made for the title unification bout.

Charles immediately got in Slam Shady's face and said Shady let him down. He asked what happened to the Slam Shady that used to do anything to win. Before Shady could respond, Albright took a step forward to intervene, but Charles didn't back down and quickly told "The Shooter" that he made him sick.

This was shocking enough, but it wasn't over, as Chris Fox stepped from the curtain and entered the ring, much to everyone's amazement. He addressed the crowd and reminded them that when Albright defeated Valentino last year, the contract stated that he had to leave NWA-U. But this wasn't NWA-U, it was NWA-OK and he was back! Fox quickly put the blame for the collapse of Hate, Inc. on the shoulders of Charming Charles, citing his absence as the reason for most of Fox's headaches over the past year. And Fox exacted a bit of quick revenge, but delivering a swift but solid kick to the groin of Charles, prompting the exit of The Charming One.

Fox then turned to the participants in the ring, acknowledged their accomplishments and wished them luck in their match before exiting. That night, luck was with Albright, as he walked out with the NWA-OK Oklahoma title, set to defend it against all comers.

Fox's attack on Charles may not have been the best decision, as Charles still has powerful allies. Besides the Oklahoma Tag Team Champions, there seems to be an agreement between Charles and Rocco Valentino. Valentino was sitting at ringside doing commentary for the DVD of the events in Tahlequah and expressed his lack of appreciation for the actions of Chris Fox. At this point, Charming Charles is scheduled to accompany Rocco Valentino to the ring as The Oklahoma Legend comes out of retirement Friday, June 20 for one night only to take on Slam Shady at the NWA-OK benefit show in Tulsa for the tornado victims in Picher. According to NWA-OK press, Shady has someone coming to the ring with him as well, although he refuses to give any clue as to who it is.
