Ted DiBiase To Speak
Posted: Apr 15th 2008 By: CMBurnham
Former professional wrestling star Ted DiBiase will speak at John 3:16 Ministries in Charlotte Thursday, according to camp director Bryan Tuggle.
A free pork loin meal will be served at 6 p.m. followed by the testimony at 7. The event is open to the public.
Best known as ?The Million Dollar Man? of the World Wrestling Federation, DiBiase became a wrestler in 1975 with the Mid-South Wrestling organization, following in the footsteps of his stepfather, Iron Mike DiBiase.
Ted DiBiase?s big break came in 1987 when he headed for New York and the WWF, where he took a new name, ?Million Dollar Man,? playing a millionaire who wore a gold-studded, dollar-sign-covered suit and a custom-made, diamond-encrusted and self-awarded ?Million Dollar Belt.?
DiBiase has held many wrestling titles, including three-time WWF Tag Team Champion (with Mike Rotundo). He took part in matches against such foes as Andre the Giant, Hulk Hogan, Ric Flair, ?Macho Man? Randy Savage, Jake ?The Snake? Roberts, Junkyard Dog, Hacksaw Jim Duggan and Brutus Beefcake.
DiBiase sustained a neck injury in 1993 and quit wrestling. He began working for the World Championship Wrestling and was a manager and often commentated. He left in 1999 after 25 years in the industry.
He has authored a book, ?Every Man Has His Price,? and is now a full-time evangelist and speaker. He is a spokesperson for the Sunshine Foundation, an organization that grants wishes for critically ill children, and has founded Heart of David Ministries. An ordained minister, he speaks to churches, corporations, schools, universities and other organizations.
DiBiase will also be at the 10th annual Legacy Men?s Retreat & Golf Tournament at Budd Creek Camp near Greers Ferry on April 18.
