C. B. C. Looks to Max Out The X Division

C. B. C. Looks to Max Out The X Division

Posted: Jan 23rd 2008 By: CMBurnham

The ComPro Oklahoma X Division Title has certainly seen a wide diversity of talent in its short existance. There was FCW Tag Team Champion Justin Lee, who epitomised the X Division. He's held X Division gold in NWA-U and is one of those rare individuals who can easily blend in with the typiclly light X Division competitors or the heavyweights. There was Bernard Funk, who may not have the ariel ability or speed, but certainly has a lot more experience than most of the X Division crop. And there's current 2-time Oklahoma X Division Champion Shane Morbid, who's held X Division Titles in SRPW & NWA-U. While he may not look it, he combines X Division agility with heavyweight power and has used this combination to bully his way through the competition. But now, he looks to face his most bizarre challenge ever as the next potential Oklahoma X Division Champion is...Cold Blooded Chris?

That's right, C. B. C. Morbid's fellow Innovative Combat Fighters partner. A man he knows very well. Since August, the performer formerly known as Poo Bear abandoned that name and any playful associations it might have brought with it. He joined Boss Campbell, Shane Morbid & Cast-Iron Cothern as ICF, with their primary target being Justin Lee. While Shane was the front runner, C. B. C was the backup, always at ringside, always running his mouth. Always a threat. But while C. B. C. certainly did a lot of talking outside the ring, he didn't seem to be able to back it up very much in the ring. While it's true that no one was able to beat him for his self-proclaimed "World Bodyslam Challenge" Title, he was also not able to beat much of anyone, despite having a weight advantage over every other competitor in the ComPro locker room.

That lack of focus was not lost on Shane Morbid, who tried to bring out the killer instinct in C. B. C. They even made a couple of attempts to take the ComPro Tag Team titles off of Sudden Impact. But when those attempts failed, Morbid & Boss Campbell placed the blame solely at the feet of C. B. C. And the rift in ICF began to widen.

For a couple of weeks, Morbid has taken great pleasure in coming out during matches between C. B. C. & one of the masked tag team champions. This would cause a distraction which ultimately cost C. B. C. the match. But during the Triple Threat Match to determine the #1 contender to the Oklahoma X Division title last Saturday, Morbid didn't make an appearance. Perhaps he thought that the presence of La M at ringside, there to cheer on their member Jesus Rodriguez and to torment the third member of the match, El Super Colibri, was enough. C. B. C. certainly spent a good amount of time outside the ring while Rodriguez & Colibri battled each other. And as has become typical in La M's matches, Ray Martinez eventually got involved, hitting Colibri in the back of the head with a Spanish-English dictionary. But before Rodriguez could take advantage of the help, C. B. C. delivered the Pile O'Poo Splash and got the 3-count. The crowd sat in stunned silence as it sank into them that THIS was now the #1 contender to a title generally thought of for high-flying matches. C. B. C certainly wasn't going to be able to accomplish that.

Even Morbid & Campbell found this amusing and they came out to the ring after the match was over. After a little posturing, Morbid took off his championship belt and shoved it in the face of C. B. C., saying that was as close as he was going to get to the title. Campbell & Morbid then left, but C. B. C. wasn't through. He took the microphone and told Morbid that he hoped God would have mercy on his soul, because C. B. C. wasn't going to. He then reminded Morbid to bring a bunch of Band-Aids.

As often seems the case, more questions than answers are left after these develoments. With all the smaller guys that Morbid is accustomed to fighting as X Division Champion, will he be properly prepared for his title defence this Saturday? And what will C. B. C., who hasn't had championship gold in almost 4 years, do to make sure he walks out champion? Will La M be a factor in this match? Ray Martinez was certainly NOT happy about the outcome of the #1 contender's match.

Despite not being the "top" belt in the federation, it certainly seems that the X Division Title is still one of the hottest titles in Oklahoma today.
