Brooks Makes An Impact In TNA Oklahoma Debut

Brooks Makes An Impact In TNA Oklahoma Debut

Posted: Jan 18th 2008 By: CMBurnham

TNA invaded Oklahoma City January 12 and one of the performers to stand out was Ms. Traci Brooks. Brooks is no stranger to Oklahoma, having competed on several NWA-U cards. But this being her first time in Oklahoma City, she wanted to make an impression. And she did so, though not in a way that her former employer Robert Roode would have wanted.

Brooks was announced as one of the competitors in a Triple Threat Match for the TNA World Knockouts Title. And she and fellow challenger Ms. Jackie Moore had a sound strategy to use against champion Awesome Kong. They doubled up on Kong, throwing her out of the ring near the beginning of the match, then focused on each other, knowing that the rules of a Triple Threat Match meant that the champion didn't have to be pinned in order to lose the title. This was a fine idea as long as Kong was outside of the ring, but it didn't take long for the behemoth champion to make her way back in and begin to annihilate the other 2 Knockouts. With Jackie pummeled, Kong focused on Ms. Brooks, hitting her with some devestating power moves and scoring the pin to retain her title. While Moore was able to leave the ring on her own, it appeared that Brooks had suffered some sort of injury, possibly to her ankle or knee, which required that she get some assistance to leave the ring.

2 segments later, Robert Roode made his first appearance in Oklahoma. And in an insincere way, he "apologise" for breaking Sharmell's jaw at the TNA "Final Resolution" PPV the previous week. It didn't take long for him to get around to blaming Sharmell's husband Booker T for her injury, saying that if he hadn't brought her to ringside, she wouldn't be suffering the way she is. This brought out an enraged Booker T who stormed to the ring and, as Roode tried to backpedal on his statement, attacked Roode and the match was one. It was hard-fought, with both sides getting their licks in, but towards the end, the referee was hit and went down. This allowed Roode to go grab a chair and bring it into the ring, prepared to severly injure Booker. But who should come to Booker's rescue but Ms. Brooks! She climbed in the ring behind Robert and delivered a surprise low-blow, causing Roode to lower his chair. It also gave Booker T time to recover and deliver a side-kick to the chair, knocking it into Roode's head. Referee Earl Hebner came round in time to see Booker on top of Roode (without seeing any of the interference) and made the three-count to the crowd's delight.

While this gained some temporary revenge for Booker, it isn't over and further confrontations between the two, as well as between Roode and Brooks, are sure to make for some interesting viewing on TNA iMPACT in the coming weeks.
