Time For the "Nature Boy" To Hang Up the Tights
Posted: Nov 28th 2007 By: CMBurnham
You never know what to believe with professional wrestling, but according to the "official news sources" that follow the industry, Charlotte's Ric Flair is nearing retirement.
Monday night, Flair told the crowd at WWE's "Raw," in his signature fashion, that -- Whooo! -- he would never retire. But WWE chairman Vince McMahon said Flair had to keep winning or McMahon was going to end his career.
The theory is Flair will keep winning leading up to Wrestlemania, wrestling's version of the Super Bowl, in March.
Flair, 58, deserves a final run to a 17th championship, and he might win it in that final match ... if that's where this story line is leading.
After that, Flair needs to step out of the ring for good. He's as popular as any athlete has been, but his time is past.
A final bow at Wrestlemania would be perfect.
