Renegade is an (en)forceful presence in TPW

Renegade

Former OPW Oklahoma Champion Renegade made a surprise appearance in TPW Saturday as the special enforcer for the Last Man Standing Match between The Prophet and Mid-South Tag Team Champion Draven Cross. It was his first appearance for the company since late summer of 2003, when he offered to mentor Dirty Harry Sanchez (then known as Black Bear).

Renegadeīs presence was required due to the last encounter between Prophet and Draven, where Draven attacked Prophet with a chair before their match started. TPW commissioner Kitty determined that a man who was tough enough to stand up to both of these large combatants was needed to ensure that no further shenanigans occurred and that the issue between them was settled.

Things didnīt exactly go as planned. Draven was knocked out early in the match, which allowed Prophet to get the victory. But both sides have expressed to Oklafan that they donīt really feel the issue has been settled and that another match between them is needed.

Renegade has been making appearances in many of the Oklahoma federations over the past year. He began 2005 as a member of the New Texas Outlaws with Bernard Funk and Bobby Burns, managed by Flamon Raymon in SRPW. He & Bernard made it to the finals of the SRPW Tag Team tournament, where they lost to the 918 Boyz, Cade Sydal & Timmy J. But after losing the final match, The NTO stole the SRPW Tag Team belts and fled with them.

Around April, he turned up in NWA Universal to compete in the 4 Corners/4 Weapons/4 Poles match for the vacant NWA Universal X Division Title, eventually won by Gary Gram. A reunion with Bernard Funk & Flamon Raymon occurred later in the summer, in time for the team to compete in a 3-Way Elimination match against Brandon Groom & American Anarchy and Scotty Charisma & NWA Oklahoma Champion John O'Malley to become the 1st NWA Oklahoma Tag Team Champions. Again, the NTO lost the match (this time to Groom & Anarchy), but stole the belts. The issue between these teams was never resolved as NWA Universal ceased operations in August of 2005.

With Bernard in TPW, could a reunion of the New Texas Outlaws be forthcoming? During the free-for-all in the ring that followed the match between Rocco Valentino & Bernard Funk, Renegade remained on the outside, offering assistance to no one. But no one can deny this wily veteran his past. Only his future actions will determine whether he can be trusted or not.
