This Franchise Player Has His Own Set of Rules
In the wrestling business, timing is everything. And every opportunity given to someone should be maximised.
Ace Archuleta has been attempting to captalise on both these ideas. Initially confining his activities to SRPW & UWE, Archuleta has recently branched out in an effort to widen his exposure. And wherever he's gone, controversy has followed.
Archulets recently made his entrance into SWCW, where he was recruited into the Franchise Players, a rather appropriate group. Replacing Les Mayne, Archuleta & Rick Russo scored an impressive win at "Scars & Stripes" on July 14th over Mayne and Kareem Sadat.
But Archuleta hasn't neglected duties in his "home territory" of UWE. Wanting to prove himself to be the biggest dog in the yard, Archuleta set his eyes on the biggest competitor in the state: : Big Smooth. And he hasn't quite gotten the job done yet as he had a 1-on-1 match with "The Ladies Man" this past Wednesday, a match which Archuleta lost by countout when things became simply too difficult for him to endure during the match.
But the most interesting appearances by Archuleta of late have been ones that haven't been actual matches. Last month, the Clockwork Clique combination of Crossfire Morrison & BYEW Entertainment Champion Bobby Star were one of 3 teams challenging ComPro Tag Team Champions The New Era 2nd for the titles. After the Swamp Men were eliminated, Richie Adams & Goldeneye faced the difficult task of taking out both the Clockwork Clique and the returning Legion of Bromance. Despite a great effort, Star was unable to avoid the Running Neckbreaker from Adams and was put down, eliminating that team. Then, in a surprise appearance, Archuleta came out from the back and attacked both Clockwork Clique members, leaving them laying on the outside as the Legion of Bromance left the New Era 2nd laying inside the ring to win the ComPro Tag Team Championships.
This past Friday, Morrison & Star arrived, grabbing the microphone and calling Archuleta out. There was no response from the man who likes to call himself "Your Girl's Favourite Wrestler", so the Clique turned to focus on their opponents that night: the neely formed team of Robert Lee & Malice. But it wasn't long before Ace appeared once again, simply wandering around the ringside area, having a seat near some of the security guards and watching the action. As before, though, Archuleta was simply biding his time to make his move and he did so while Lee kept referee Mark Wilson occupied, slamming Star into the cornerpost on the outside, then entering the ring and spearing Morrison so that Lee & Malice could get themselves off to good start as a team.
It's unknown what Archuleta's issue with the Clique is. Nor are his motives clear anywhere else. At this point, one could say that he's simply trying to make a name for himself and if that's the case, he's succeeded. But it seems like Ace wants more. The man seems destined for gold, he just has to capitalise on his opportunities, like he's done so far. And when titles come to Archuleta, expect them to stay there for quite a long time.
