Tacious Makes His Mark In And Out Of The Ring
Since entering SWCW, Austin Tacious has met with repeated frustrations. He suffered a serious injury in his first match in the company which put him out for several months. Then after his return, it seemed that current SWCW All-American Champion Kevin James Sanchez would end up costing him matches, albeit unintentionally. In May, after Sanchez was appointed the special guest referee in an SWCW All-American Title match between Austin and then-champion John E. Stone, he again proved to be deciding factor. There was a huge arguement between Stone and Sanchez and when Sanchez went to give the Ring Rat Kick to Stone, Stone ducked and Sanchez connected with Tacious instead, knocking him out. Stone then covered him and Sanchez had no choice but to count 3. Tacious was so upset with this decision that he announced that he was quitting SWCW and left the building.
For almost 2 months, the SWCW fans had no reason to question his decision. Nothing was heard from him and he made no statements about returning.
But on July 14, Tacious attempted to make a huge impact when he made a surprise return to SWCW. During the Stairway to Hell Match for the SWCW All-American title between Stone and Sanchez, Tacious entered the building from the front and came down the ramp with a steel chair in hand. He entered the ring and stared at both men, then hit Sanchez with the chair, seemingly in retaliation for the months of perceived screwjobs prior. Then, in a rather confusing moment, he also clocked Stone with the chair before exiting the ring and heading back up the rampway. SWCW Tag Team Champion Shawn Sanders came out from the back and attempted to get him to stop, but Tacious paid him no mind and quietly proceded to walk out the front door without saying a word.
The next week, as the SWCW fans entered the arena, they discovered that Tacious was again in the building, but not backstage. Instead, he was sitting in the front row by himself, calmly staring at the ring. So he was able to clearly see when SWCW commissioner Chris Kuhn and Kevin James Sanchez came to the ring at the beginning of the show. Sanchez called Tacious into the ring and asked him to explain his actions at the previous show. Tacious reminded Sanchez of the interactions between the two of them over the previous months and then said that Sanchez made a joke out of the wrestling business with his actions.
At that point, Kuhn stepped in and said that after discussing Tacious' actions from the previous week with the Oklahoma Athletic Commission representatives, they have reinstated him as an active member of the SWCW roster. Tacious protests, saying that he quit. Kuhn threatens further legal and financial sanctions and also announces that, since Tacious is a roster member, he has a match for him.
Les Mayne's music played and "The Mayne Event" came to the ring to face Tacious, who was still in his street clothes, obviously not expecting to compete that night. And no matter what Tacious did, he could not get the upper hand on the then-MSWA Oklahoma champion. After about 5 minutes of frustration, Tacious rolled out of the ring and came over to SWCW ring announcer Milton Winkelman, asking him if the match had to go to a conclusion. Winkelman nodded yes, so Tacious made his way over to the TV announce area and joined C. M. Burnham as the referee counted to 10. Seemingly unfazed, Tacious was thrilled to take the countout loss, but Chris Kuhn said it didn't matter as he was still an active member of the roster and still subject to the rules of SWCW. Tacious wasn't happy with this announcement, but it didn't stop him from again walking out the front door and leaving the building.
Tacious seems insistent on being able to do whatever he wants to without having to be subject to any of the rules that govern the company. At this point, what he wants seems to be anyone's guess. But the safe bet would be that he is looking towards a shot at Kevin James Sanchez and the SWCW All-American Title. Tacious has never held a singles title in his career and being able to gain gold and revenge against Sanchez might be just enough to get Tacious to willingly step foot back in the SWCW ring again.
