Challengers Lining up for MSWA Tag Champs

Bad Boy

MSWA Mid-South Tag Team Champions The Patriots fought long and hard to capture those gold belts, chasing the Real Impact Players and being faced with delay after delay until last year in September when Aaron Neil could run no further. With his partner Se7en out of action in the state, Aaron had to pick a partner and didn't choose very wisely in the reluctant Alexander Lucas. The result: new tag team champions. Now, after 5 months on top, Glen Steel & Bad Boy are facing their toughest challenges and teams line up to make a run for their belts.

In the months following their defeat, the first team to rise to challenge for the Mid-South gold was the team of 3rd Rail & Tyson Jaymes. A huge team and a powerful one, this twosome came close on several occassions to capturing the tag team titles, but could never quite find the piece of the puzzle that was missing. Now, they've focused their attention on studying their opponents and preparing strategies to capture that elusive tag team gold. And while the Patriots have successfully repelled those previous attacks, other teams have been biding their time to make a bid for the titles.

One of those teams is the newly formed combination of Draven Cross & Michael Faith, known as the New Forsaken. 2 behemoths with plenty of tag team experience, Faith was 1/2 of one of the most dominant tag teams in Oklahoma history, the Forsaken, with his brother Halo. Now that Halo has been forced into retirement, Faith went and got someone of similar size and mentality in Draven Cross. Cross knows what it's like to tag with big men as he has competed with Poo Bear in the Violence Alliance in TPW and won tag team gold in MSWA with 3rd Rail as members of the House of Strange.

The New Age Syndicate are demanding to be taken seriously and, while their loss this last Saturday puts them out of immediate contention to the belts, they are still waiting for their moment. Scott Sanders and his twin brother Shawn Sanders have captured the appreciation of the fans and they hope continued hard work in the ring will one day pay off with some champioships. Sadly, they couldn't match the size or ferocity of the New Forsaken and were eliminated from the tag team contenders tournament.

Due to the Oklahoma Boxing Commission shutting down the show halfway through last Saturday, we didn't get to see what other teams were out there waiting to challenge for the gold belts, but a quick perusal of the teams in the Okahoma City area could give us some clues. Might Beau Dalton be bringing in one (or more) of his P.I.N.K. Nation compatriots to make a play for the belts? Could Kenny Campbell bring Team Shenaningans to MSWA since his partner Tyler Bateman is a mainstay? Could we see a reformation of the Old School Assassins, with Brad Michaels leading the charge? Or might there be some teams that are trying to be dark horses and make their first foray into this type of competition?

Whoever ends up being the #1 contenders, the Patriots will not back down from this challenge. They've defended that gold for 5 months now and it is unlikely that their full-ahead attitude is going to change anytime soon. Those #1 contenders had better bring their A-game when they step up against the Mid-South Tag Team champions.
