Four Questions With Striker
By: Clifton Cahoon
It has been a while since the SWCW Fan base has seen Striker in the ring, due to some issues with his health. However, when I caught up with the man known as Striker, I found out just how ready he is to get back into the squared circle. Here are my Four Questions with Striker:
1. What was it like when you walked through that curtain for the first time ?
A. Actually if you take away the Crisstopher Crow Memorial shows last year, I was gone for over 3 years. In February of '09 I dropped the Heavyweight Title to Aaron Neil. The next month I had reconstructive facial surgery and was told to never step foot in the ring again due to my sinus cavities drilled out so thin. I did the MSW show for Crow and attempted the Sooner show but was very sick. We all know what happened after that. Crow saved my life. After I was cleared from my kidney Dr, I choose to get back in the ring regardless of the cost. In March of this year, I walked through the curtain with tears in my eyes. In no way can I honestly explain what my feelings were. Here's a guy who defied the odds twice to get back in the ring. A guy who thought his days on earth were numbered...let alone his time in the ring.
2. You are now out, recovering from hernia surgery, How is your recovery going and when can the fans expect to see you again?
A. The recovery is going great. I am actually way ahead of the process. BUT, the Dr doesn't want me to enter the ring ahead of schedule and I can understand that. When I get in there it will be all of nothing. There will never be half speed or half ass from me. I look to return to training in the ring the first weekend in January. I hope to return to being on a card by February.
3. Last time we saw you, you came to the aid of the Brothers of Hardcore and LJ McDaniels as they were getting attacked by The Franchise Players. Can you tell us why the change in attitude?
A. I've been around this business for going on 15 years. I know that I've done some shady stuff in and out of the ring but there comes a time when you realize that if anything you do is to mean something, it should be earned. I've dealt with punks like these guys for years and frankly I just got tired of them thinking they can run rough shod over everyone with no repercussions. That time has come to an end.
4. Finally, what can we expect from you in 2013, and what are your goals?
A. Well hopefully you can expect a healthier person..lol. Seriously, I intend to come back and do what I can do to give back to the business. I really have nothing left to prove in this business. I have been beyond blessed when it comes to all that I have accomplished in professional wrestling. When I started training I was nearly 28 years old and way out of shape. I was told I wouldn't ever make it and if I did, I would never accomplish much. Well 15 years, 23 titles and countless memories later, here I am. My goals are to eventually open a training center here in McAlester. I want to help troubled kids and give them an outlet. Then if and when they are ready, I will take them on the road. I'm not concerned with running shows or owning a fed, just a training center.
As you can see this is one man, as his latest addition to the SWCW Facebook page states "It's about that time!" who is itching for some competition!
