National Wrestling Alliance-Universal

NWA Universal, owned and operated by Christopher Fox and Douglas Cook, was an associate of NWA Southwest, the Texas NWA affiliate. NWA-U originally was named NWA Oklahoma until April 16, 2005 when the company was renamed. NWA-U used several local stars from around Oklahoma as well as many stars from surrounding NWA branches such as NWA Southwest and NWA Central States, plus some national talent from NWA-Total Non-Stop Action. NWA-U promoted events in several venues across the state. With the name change to NWA Universal, it was announced that an talent exchange agreement with a sister promotion, the Universal Wrestling Federation based in Pennsylvania. That agreement never produced any results. NWA-U aired their TV show on Tulsa´s WB 19, and for a brief time was also seen on the internet as well. NWA-U ceased operations again in September 2005 when Fox opted to close its doors to focus on his music business. NWA-U reopened again in May 2006 using Universal Championship Wrestling as the parent company name. The parent company was sold in June 2007 and relocated to Pennsylvania, while NWA-U was renamed back to its original name, NWA Oklahoma.
