A. J. Styles is set to play a part in the next series of episodes of "Southpaw Regional Wrestling". Styles revealed in an interview with Sam Roberts that he will be playing a character called "Malibu Al", a used car salesman who helps sponsor the company.

Before facing Kevin Owens at "Battleground", A. J. Styles appeared at Citizens Bank Park for that afternoon's Philadelphia Phillies home game against the Milwaukee Brewers. You can see the pictures tweeted by the Phillies by clicking here.

Jerry Lawler appeared on WWE's "Battleground" pre-show and on "Talking Smack" after the pay-per-view with host Renee Young. It was the first episode of "Talking Smack" since its weekly run ended.

In a recent edition of his podcast, Bruce Prichard revealed that at one point an idea was pitched for wrestling legend Roddy Piper to face the O. J. Simpson at a WWF pay-per-view. This was around the time that Simpson was acquitted of murder charges of his ex-wife Nicole Brown-Simpson and her boyfriend Ron Goldman. According to Prichard, the plan was for Piper to “beat the sh*t out of Simpson” as a way for people to see him get some form of comeuppance, especially those who believed he was guilty. Piper was on board with the idea, and the company began preliminary talks with Simpson’s people, however the backlash was too strong, with many claiming that the company would never get another sponsor again and the angle was dropped. Former WCW magazine editor Kevin Eck also noted that creative team member Vince Russo had also pitched an idea involving Simpson, seeing the infamous football star appear on a live PPV and seeing Simpson take a polygraph test.

Mickie James has been working on new music in the studio recently and she also filmed a music video in Nashville, TN on Tuesday morning. Alicia Fox reportedly appears in the video with her. No word yet on when it will be released.

Harley Race's World League Wrestling has their annual tryout camp August 28th to September 1st at the Harley Race Wrestling Academy in Troy, MO. The cost of the camp is $500. There will be representatives from Ring of Honor (Delirious), New Japan (Gedo and Rocky Romero) and WWE (Steve Corino) attending the camp. For more info you can call (573) 392-4100.
