NEWS
ProWrestlingSheet.com is reporting that a life-size statue of Ric Flair will be unveiled at WrestleMania 33 weekend during Axxess this year. Ryan Satin from the website confirmed the news after a model by the name of Sean Perry posted a photo on his Facebook standing in for a full body mold for the Flair statue. “Sooooo, the other day a studio did a full body mold of me for a statue of Ric Flair (in his prime) for the WWE Hall of Fame,” Perry wrote. This will be the fifth statue to be unveiled at Axxess with statues for Andre the Giant, Bruno Sammartino, Dusty Rhodes, and the Ultimate Warrior being unveiled at previous WrestleManias.

Last week on "The Howard Stern Show", Ric Flair got a mention. Frequent show caller Steve from Florida ‎had been sent to interview stars at a pop culture expo where Flair was making an appearance . Steve started off with a question about wrestlers using blood capsules, which insulted and angered Flair and the interview came to a quick end. Afterwards, the Stern crew commented on how Flair could have easily beaten down Steve if he'd been so inclined, noting a recent YouTube video that showed Flair dead-lifting 300 pounds.

“Nature Boy” Ric Flair acknowledged John Cena’s impressive feat of tying Flair's World Title record, tweeting a congratulatory message to the new champ. “Congrats on #16 @JohnCena! Never Forget…To be the man, you gotta beat the man - WOOOOO!” He then posted a photo with Cena, who was holding the new title. Flair was also interviewed by WWE.com afterward. Flair said that he was one of John’s biggest fans, both as a human being and a wrestler. He said he’s been the flagship for the company for a very long time and if there was someone who was going to tie - and eventually break - his record, he’s glad that it is John Cena. Cena celebrated his 16th title win by going among the fans and placing the WWE title on the shoulder of a young fan who was wearing the Make-A-Wish Foundation t-shirt. Cena is the Foundation’s most requested person and has granted more wishes than any celebrity on the planet.

There was a plan to make a bigger deal of John Cena tying Ric Flair's record but it was rewritten out of the show. So many people know it's not a real number (16) for Flair's titles, plus from a history perspective, as great as last night's match was, a short title reign is kind of weak for the record setter which may be why it's being downplayed. That also could be an argument not to have done it, but that was the long-term plan when it was supposed to be a big deal

WWE sent out notices to those who purchased a WrestleMania 33 travel package with the list of names who will be signing at Axxess. There are two VIP signings - regular VIP and Premium VIP - which will span from Friday to Sunday. The VIP sessions include Shinsuke Nakamura on Friday at 5pm, the only VIP session of the night. On Saturday there are five VIP autograph sessions, starting with Samoa Joe at 8am, Nikki Bella at 10am, Chris Jericho at 1pm, Bray Wyatt at 6pm, and Bayley at 8pm. There is only one signing on Sunday with Edge at 10am. The more expensive Premium VIP sessions start with Seth Rollins at 7pm on Friday. On Saturday, there will be Roman Reigns at 10am, A. J. Styles at 1pm, and Dean Ambrose at 3pm. Kurt Angle will be doing the Sunday 8am session. The Seth Rollins session on Friday night will conflict with the WWE Hall of Fame ceremony. Tickets for Axxess are not out yet.

As seen on last night’s post-Royal Rumble RAW in Laredo, Paul Heyman and Brock Lesnar issued a challenge to Bill Goldberg for another singles match at WrestleMania 33 in Orlando. Goldberg took to Twitter and revealed that he will be at next week’s RAW in Portland, OR to respond to the challenge. He tweeted, “I’ll be at @WWE #RAW NEXT MONDAY! @BrockLesnar @HeymanHustle want an answer to the #Wrestlemania challenge…… he’ll get that and more! #WhosNext”.

Dave Meltzer of The Wrestling Observer notes that the current plan is for Goldberg to face Kevin Owens for the WWE Universal Championship at WWE's "Fastlane" pay-per-view event and go on to defend the title against Brock Lesnar at WrestleMania

There was a huge line at a Toys R Us in San Antonio, TX Sunday morning for an A. J. Styles signing, including a lot of fans who camped out the night before.

WWE has a new poll asking fans who they would most like to see on the cover of Sports Illustrated’s upcoming Swimsuit Issue: RAW Women’s Champion Charlotte Flair, SmackDown Women’s Champion Alexa Bliss, Alicia Fox, Bayley, Becky Lynch, Carmella, Lana, Maryse, Mickie James, Naomi, Natalya, Nia Jax, Nikki Bella, Sasha Banks, Summer Rae or Tamina Snuka. As of this writing, 31% voted for Bliss while 19% went with Bayley, 12% with Becky, 7% for Lana, 6% for Nia, 6% for Sasha and 4% for Nikki.

WWE Champion A. J. Styles tweeted the following after his in-ring showdown with Royal Rumble opponent John Cena on last night’s SmackDown: "There is only one @JohnCena, but I'm the PHENOMENAL ONE......AND #WWEChampion. See you at #RoyalRumble."

Before the "Royal Rumble" Bill Goldberg was speculated to be the winner of the Royal Rumble Match, Dave Meltzer noted on "Wrestling Observer Radio" that a Goldberg win seemed unlikely as Brock Lesnar would have to become WWE Universal Champion as Lesnar vs. Goldberg is still the plan for WrestleMania 33. Lesnar is not currently scheduled to wrestle at the February "Fastlane" pay-per-view, where the WWE Universal Title will be defended by either Roman Reigns or current champion Kevin Owens.

Mick Foley was filming WWE Home Video content with his old Commissioner’s Office used as the set. According to WrestlingDVDNetwork.com, Foley was filming for a new “Best of The 2000’s” four-disc DVD and Blu-ray that will be released in April. The official synopsis says "The 2000’s was an exciting time for WWE. The Attitude Era was reaching its conclusion, new Superstars were beginning to make their presence known, and for the first time in history, both RAW and SmackDown had their own unique rosters. Now you can relive this period of sports entertainment with WWE’s Best of The 2000’s. Featuring Superstars such as John Cena, Triple H, Batista, Chris Jericho, Edge, Stone Cold Steve Austin, The Rock, Booker T, Shawn Michaels, Undertaker and more!"

Mary Tyler Moore, who was in attendance for WWE’s WrestleMania 6 in Toronto, passed away at the age of 80 last week. Ted DiBiase remembered her with the following on Twitter "RIP Mary Tyler Moore. She was ringside at WM 6 in Toronto. She received one of my hundred dollar bills by way of @JakeSnakeDDT!"

Jeff Jarrett posted on Twitter "Well, @AJStylesOrg, @REALBobbyRoode and now @SamoaJoe...I could not be more excited about 2017...@GFWWrestling @IMPACTWRESTLING #Talent".

Jerry Lawler opened a new BBQ restaurant in the Cordova, TN on Monday. Lawler owns another establishment on Beale Street in Memphis. He tweeted the following on the opening "Opening today! King Jerry Lawler's Memphis Barbecue Company, 465 Germantown Pkw. 11am-9pm daily Come eat like a King!!!"

Edge, Christian, Rikishi, The Great Khali, and Saraya Knight have been added to the Wrestlecon lineup for WrestleMania weekend.

Oklafan congratulates Simply the Future (Alex & J. D.), who recently surpassed 6 months as WFC Tag Team Champions. They defeated The Pen Palz (Skyler Fayden & Dimitri Alexandrov) for the titles at "Freedom Rings: The Fight for Alexis" in Claremore on July 16, 2016.

Oklafan extends condolences to Road Warrior Animal on the passing of his father on January 19th.

Jimmy Snuka's funeral was held January 26th at Serenity Memorial Chapels in Margate, FL. There will also be a service in NJ. Date and time will be announced once they are finalized.
