JR's Blog: Monday Blog Just Posted, ROH's Dalton Castle to Ross Report Podcast, Paige Engaged, @Goldberg on RAW, McGregor will return to Vegas, RINGSIDE News

Posted: Oct 18th 2016 By: Jim Ross

Greetings one and all and thanks for stopping by our site. I post multiple blogs here each week that I invite you to read and share. It's going to be great to be home all week after extensive travel to England and Los Angeles recently. I'm speaking to ROH's Dalton Castle tonight for a future Ross Report of which I am looking forward to recording. Multiple time HOFer JJ Dillon is my guest this week on The Ross Report that drops Tuesday night a t9 PM ET as usual and the former WWE/WCW executive along with being the leader of the Four Horsemen is always a fascinating guest.

Big night for WWE RAW in Denver as @Goldberg will appear on the show to apparently address his pending bout with Brock Lesnar at Survivor Series. Curious as to where WWE will place this piece of business that I will certainly be watching before I record this week's podcast. I like the alleged matchup as Goldberg vs Lennar is what I would term as a 'special attraction' bout and one that I'd likely not put on last in Toronto if that's indeed where the return, WM20 bout goes down.

My guess is that this match will be much better than many naysayers perceive and likely won't resemble the MSG match at WM20 that Steve Austin refereed. Will it be a 5 star classic? Only time will tell but generally speaking 'special attraction' bouts usually aren't show stealers but this presentation will likely out perform expectations.

I expect that Goldberg wil be jeered in Toronto as Lesnar is now residing in the Saskatoon area plus Goldberg is unfortunately known as the man who ended Bret Hart's in ring wrestling career. I still think that this will be a 'one off' for @Goldberg and I still see Lesnar getting his hand raised.

Had a brief chat this weekend with Stone Cold who is excited about the next season of Broken Skull Challenge on CMT that he just finished taping. Apparently there are a plethora of outstanding athletes in the mix including a former Oklahoma footballer. Check out Steve's show when it premiers its new season.

News out of Puerto Rico where Alberto El Patron was wrestling this weekend as Paige proposed to the former WWE Champion who recently left the company to explore other options. Paige is still under her second, wellness policy violation in WWE and will reportedly undergo neck surgery this week and on the WWE's dime if their medical experts agree that neck surgery is required.

Contrary to what some may attempt to sell, WWE takes great medical care of their athletes and no one else in the business even comes close but those companies are rarely critiqued as the big dog in the yard gets most of the scrutiny.

As I have mentioned, I am a big, Paige fan and hope that she can regain her health and find complete happiness inside the wrestling business which isn't always the easiest thing to do for some talents. It would be a shame for multiple circumstances to prevent the talented Brit from achieving her full potential in the business, keeping in mind that one is only young once.

Pro wrestling relationships are challenging to navigate based on what I've observed over the years even though some fortunately have stood the test of time. However, those seem to be fleeting based on history.

Gosh, the latest on the TNA Impact Wrestling front office situation certainly reads like a 'mess' and I hope that it's not as convoluted and complex as many report based on lawsuits being filed and tax issues in Tennessee surfacing. I hope that this beleaguered brand can get back on solid ground, hit the reset button and restarting a new, renamed company and see if the promotion can be resurrected. However, to do so on POP TV might be daunting.

On October 17, 1999 in Cleveland, Chyna defeated Jeff Jarrett to become the first and only women to win the IC Title which I thought at the time was not the creative way to travel and I still think that 17 years later. Bottom line for me is that I am not a fan of intergender, pro wrestling as it generally defies my ability to suspend disbelief.

Tickets are selling well for our two, upcoming RINGSIDE with Jim Ross Shows, Wednesday night November 9 at Zanies in Nashville, tickets at www.zanies.nashville.com, and on Survivor Series Sunday November 20 in Toronto at The Second City with tickets on sale at Ticketmaster Canada and LiveNation.com. We have GA and some VIP tickets both remaining for each show and I'd love to see you at one of these events that are coming up soon.

Remember that we have two shows booked, both matinees, for WM33 weekend in Orlando at Plaza Live with tickets starting at only $25 at www.ticketfly.com.

Soon we will be announcing two more RINGSIDE bookings, one on Royal Rumble Sunday afternoon in San Antonio prior to the Road to Wrestlemania kicking off at the Alamo Dome and another show that's coming to Phoenix in January 2017 as well. Both will be the first ime that we've played those respective markets with RINGSIDE with Jim Ross Shows.

Lots of intriguing, potential, pro wrestling business scenarios are being discussed domestically and abroad as multiple companies have an interest of getting into the wrestling game. I know of two of these opportunities that are likely to happen.

Keep this in mind, the three HIAC matches coming up on the WWE Network will be challenging to present creatively and will require great planing and strategy to make them all somewhat unique. To pull it off, one has to provide the show closer the first choice of 'whistles and bells' and work from there.

Tough game this Saturday night for my Sooners in Lubbock versus Texas Tech in a key, Big 12 Conference game. This one concerns me. The last time I was in the that area for OU vs Tech I got a near $200 speeding ticket in Plainview, Texas for going less than ten over the speed limit on the interstate, while being passed by a ton of Texas tags, by a Barney Fife-like local member of the Po-Po.

BTW, I don't expect the Big 12 Conference to expand but who knows as dysfunction is hard to predict.

Conor McGregor NEVER fighting in Nevada again isn't realistic but a strategic play by McGregor re: the fine he received, revealed to be 75K and not 150K as was previously reported. It's called posturing as McGregor and UFC cannot afford to not have the Irishman fight in the fight capital.
