JR's Blog: U.K. Report..No Mercy Thoughts..RINGSIDE Ticket Info, Jason Powell on The Ross Report

Posted: Oct 11th 2016 By: Jim Ross

Greetings one and all and thanks for stopping by our site. Coming off a truly memorable week in England and in the Cotton Bowl Saturday and now preparing to do more AXSTV/NJPW work for a series of newly, edited shows. We're burning daylight....

My sincere thanks to all the great people at What Culture Pro Wrestling including James Dixon plus Kenny McIntosh of Inside the Ropes for hosting two, terrific events that Jim Cornette and I thoroughly enjoyed contributing to in our small way. The Wednesday night Q&A in London, with special surprise, unadvertised guest Bret Hart, was a sell out and the crowd was tremendous. The VIP meet/greets were off the page in London as were the reactions of the audience for our presentation.

We are blessed to be in a business where fans still care about history and respect those that have contributed in a variety of ways and over a long period of time. to the genre. I'm always proud to say that I am a pro wrestling fan and unabashedly so.

The U.K. is a red hot pro wrestling market as evidenced by the fan reaction to the live event in Newcastle Thursday night. All the seats on the floor were on the flat so the vast majority of fans stood the entire show which contributed to the energy and ambiance in the sold out venue that looked to have held a 1,000=1500 rapid fans.

Joe Hendry vs the great Kurt Angle was the show closer and and it was a truly excellent bout. Cody Rhodes vs veteran Doug Williams told a sound story within another main event level match.

For me, the success of any wrestling show always starts with the effort of the talent no matter the creative route that is being taken. Effort is a non negotiable necessity and WCPW talents gave every one who attended or watched on PPV via the @FITETV App their monies worth.

It was great doing pro wrestling play by play again at a live event and I can assure you that the immense energy of the fans fueled the broadcast team. You can checkout this truly fun ppv at the FITE TV App as it is replaying there now. All you need is a smart device and WiFi and you are pretty much in business.

Jim Cornette has not missed a beat as a color analyst and his one appearance on PPV may likely put him in the conversation as to who does that role the best on TV. JC is hard to top. Great, natrual instincts, high pro wrestling IQ, creatively entertaining and a joy to work with on live TV.

Can't wait until I return to the U.K. and there are plans to do just that sooner than later. For a wrestling fan like me, the U.K. is a great place to hang one's black hat from time to time.

No Mercy from Sunday night on the WWE Network will be addressed on this week's Ross Report, along with Monday Night RAW, with Pro Wrestling Dot Net's Jason Powell on a new podcast that drops Tuesday night at 9 ET/6 PT on www.podcastone.com, iTunes and right here on the home page of our site.

Here are a few thoughts on the event:

I enjoyed the wresting on the show so therefore I enjoyed the broadcast. Happy that I watched the show.

Had no issues with the match order especially considering the US Presidential Debate was going to have such a massive FREE, over the air, audience heads up with No Mercy in arguably a better 'booked' pro wrestling storyline than most company's are featuring these days.

Thought that putting the WWE Title bout on first and away from the debate helped protect the title. Not sure that AJ needed to use the chair but so be it. Considering that AJ is being positioned as a villain, I understand the use of the chair but IMO the ticket buyers want to cheer Styles and will continue to do so most likely.

The triple threat match had some stellar moments and the conclusion of the match was creative as the most popular guy in the match, according to the live audience reaction, cheated to win. Loved the work ethic of all three men in this opening salvo.

If anyone anywhere is better bell to bell than AJ Styles then I need to discover them for my own viewing pleasure.

Miz vs Ziggler had the match of the night and arguably could have closed the show in a bigger way than was featured but that's easy to book after the fact. Who knew that the IC title match would be the career best for both men? Hindsight is 20/20 but congrats to Dolph and Mike for busting their ass, telling a good story and for selling! The IC Title match was the Show Stealer!!

Q&A's here on the site are updated.

Remember that you can get JR's products delivered to your home or office from www.wweshop.com and in the U.K., Ireland and Europe from www.americansoda.co.uk.

Tickets are on sale for our first Nashville RINGSIDE with Jim Ross show Wednesday night November 9 at Zanies Comedy Club at zanies.com starting at only $25 and there are still some VIP Meet/Greet/PhotoOp tickets remaining as well.

Excited to take RINGSIDE north of the border Survivor Series Sunday November 20 at 2:30 pm at The Second City and tickets for that show, that will end at 4 pm and is only a short walk to the ACC where Survivor Series has sold out, are on sale at Ticketmaster in Canada and LiveNation.com.

Traveled over 15 hours and approximately 6,000 milieus from Newcastle to Dallas Friday to be able to see the 111th meeting Saturday of the Oklahoma Sooners and the Texas Longhorns which my Sooners took this year 45-40 in a wild west shootout on the grounds of the Texas State Fair. Jet lagged or not it was great being on the Sooner sideline to enjoy this Red River Classic. I'm proud of our coaching staff and our team for their will to compete in a physical and intense manner against their arch rival and before well over 90,000 crazed fans. .

I even treated myself to a Fletcher's Corn Dog after the game to make the trip to the largest state fair in the world complete.

Paul O'Brien and I have resumed our writing of my autobiography which we expect to have turned over to the publisher by January 1, 2017 which would likely mean a spring or summer release. I'd love to have the book available at WM33 in Orlando but time will tell.

Please consider subscribing to the Ross Report podcast on iTunes as it is totally FREE and it helps us a ton with our advertisers who pay the freight. If you subscribe you won't miss a show as they are automatically downloaded into the device of your choice every Tuesday night at 9 PM ET.

Go out and maximize those minutes!

Boomer Sooner!
