JR's Blog: JR's Blog, Dangerous Wrestlers or Dangerous Execution?, Paige VanZant, Joe & Shinsuke, Rollins Dangerous?, Listen to The Ross Report!

Posted: Aug 27th 2016 By: Jim Ross

Greetings all and thanks for stopping by the best kept secret on the internet. Spread the word that we exist here and I invite you to enjoy our blogs and updated Q&A's. Remember, that you can subscribe to the Ross Report Podcast for FREE at iTunes and never miss a show as they will be automatically downloaded into the device of your choice every Tuesday night at 9ET/6PT. We are grateful for your support.

Some fans who have been in touch with me via Twitter @JRSBBQ or through emails here to our Q&A section of the site still have mixed feelings on if Seth Rollins is "dangerous" in the right as it relates to injuring some of his opponents.

For the record I do not feel that Rollins is overly dangerous but his in ring style can be especially when Rollins, like so many of his peers, wrestles too fast. This fast pace is an unsettling trend IMO as it causes many talents to forgo several key, characteristics and traits that must be in place for any talent to execute a great in ring performances.

When talents work too fast they generally blow off selling, which is a major crime, and they are more likely to get careless when protecting their opponents and themselves. Also, wrestlers taking bumps other than flat back bumps is a risky proposition as well, notwithstanding, talents spending too much time outside the ring and bouncing around on things that are not intended for such and are inherently not safe.

Many injures in wrestling can be avoided or, at worst, lessened if more of the talent simply utilize common sense and get sound coaching and mentoring from those who are helping them put their bouts together.

Finally, the pure volume of big bumps taken by talents is ill advised as well. This volume downplays the importance of these big bumps and after seeing multiple illustrations of such it tends to cease being special to mny fans. It also fills up ones 'bump card' much more quicker and not without a cost.

Does it matter if @mikethemiz heated promo directed to Daniel Bryan was real or show biz if it worked and got people talking? Miz delivered from his heart and seemingly it was mostly an ad lib. Some fans are more concerned with knowing if it was legit or a performance rather than simply enjoying the promo for what it was which was a good piece of business that I'd surmise was strategically planned.

Again, does it matter?

Strong broadcast tonight on @MCuban 's @AXSTV for New Japan Pro Wrestling that I encourage you to check out. Hard hitting show where @JoshLBarnett and I focus on the matches in our commentary. AXSTV is on selected cable systems and on satellite tv as well such as DirecTV.

Good luck to @paigevanzantufc this weekend at UFC Fight Night on Fox. We met Paige at UFC 200 in Vegas and discovered that she was a big, WWE fan notwithstanding a lovely person in more ways than one. I think that Paige Van Zant can be a great investment/resource for WWE in the future.

Why is there so much debate whether or not Samoa Joe and Shinsuke Nakamura 'belong' on the WWE main roster? Of course their individual skills merit the 'promotion' if that 's what it truly is from NXT. NXT is a brand and that brand needs stars to sell tickets and to draw crowds for the younger talents in which to work and develop their skills.

The good news is that when Joe and Nakamura are called up it will be big news and it will help stimulate business. What many fans don't understand is that no wrestling promotion can get 'over' several talents at once. Even if the two aforementioned wrestlers get placed on RAW or Smackdown Live, they still have to 'get over' with those TV audiences. It's a process without question but declaring that Samoa Joe and Shinsuke Nakamura are ready for 'prime time' isn't a revelation.

Enjoy my conversations with WWE Hall of Famer Jerry Brisco and Wrestling Observer's Bryan Alvarez on this week's The Ross Report Podcast that you can access easily right here on the homepage of our site or at podcastone.com and iTunes. NJPW's Matt Sydal and legendary member of the Rock 'n Roll Express, Ricky Morton, join me for a fun, free listen.

If you are grilling this weekend, I hope that you will consider grilling with JR's....www.wweshop,com and in the UK & Ireland at www.americansoda.co.uk for home delivery. JR's also available at over 200 Ingles Markets throughout the Southeast USA.
