NEWS
Dusty Rhodes will be posthumously inducted into the NWA Legends Hall of Heroes Class of 2016 in Charlotte, NC during the NWA Legends Fanfest weekend on August 5th. Magnum T. A. will be doing the induction. Cody Rhodes noted on Twitter that his mother and sister will be in attendance for the ceremony.

In December 2015, Cody Rhodes teased a project titled “The Last Cowboy” about his father, Dusty Rhodes, to be released in 2017. He posted on Twitter "Official announcement & more details forthcoming...but here's something to get excited for "The Last Cowboy" 2017". When Cody was a guest on "The Ric Flair Show", he revealed that WWE recently offered him a deal that was related to a biography of his father, apparently the same project referenced in the above tweet. Cody has been working on the book since his father passed last year. Reportedly WWE’s Mark Carrano was in touch with Cody about signing some sort of deal, believed to be a Legends deal for merchandising. Cody told Flair he has been working on rights to the book so he will still be able to write it. It was also reported that Cody was upset when the news of his talks with Carrano leaked as he expected them to remain confidential.

"The Ric Flair Show", with help from an algorithm that favors new podcasts, debuted at #1 on the iTunes Sports & Recreation charts. The first episode with Cody Rhodes was released on Wednesday night.

Ric Flair and Eric Bischoff did a panel together about their time in WCW at the "Montreal Comic Con" on Saturday night.

A. J. Styles, The New Day (Kofi Kingston, Big E, & Xavier Woods), Becky Lynch, Corey Graves, and The Shockmaster will appear at this year’s San Diego Comic Con on July 21 st through 22nd to promote WWE’s Mattel products.

Newsweek has published an excerpt on discovering The Rock from WWE Hall of Famer Pat Patterson’s “Accepted: How the First Gay Superstar Changed WWE” book, which comes out in August, at this link. Below is part of what Patterson wrote on The Great One, and words anyone who ever said Patterson didn’t hire them because they weren’t gay:

With some guys, like The Rock, you only had to explain the essence of the business once, and they get it instinctively, and go on to enhance your vision. But on the other hand, there are guys you can explain it to a million times and you’re never really going to get what you need. But it’s your job as a producer to make sure the company’s vision comes across anyway. There are very good wrestlers who are never going to be the performer that Vince sees as the guy. The reality is: you have to convince the director of the movie that you’re right for the part. Some guys are just not good enough for WWE. It’s hard to meet with so many aspiring Superstars without letting down a few people along the way. I always liked to help the new guys. But I’m never personally on a mission, because if Vince doesn’t hire them, there’s not much I can do. Over the years, I’ve just ignored all casting-couch innuendo made toward me and my work at WWE. I was smarter than that. It still hurts, but there was really no way for me to defend myself. I became the disappointed wannabe wrestler’s ultimate excuse for why they weren’t offered a contract. And that’s just silly. People who were unhappy used the fact that I am gay to get back at WWE. To all the people who have ever said they weren’t hired because they were not gay, I can only say, “Guys, I’m sorry. You were just not good enough.”

Kurt Nielsen of SLAM! Wrestling wrote a review of Pat Patterson's book entitled "Patterson's book revealing and honest" which you can read by clicking here.

Ronnie Garvin was interviewed by Great North Wrestling’s "The Hannibal TV" and detailed a real fight he once had with “Macho Man” Randy Savage. You can view the video by clicking here.

Ronnie Garvin discusses what it was like dealing with former booker Dusty Rhodes in the Mid-Atlantic territory and what role Rhodes played in Garvin's 2 months NWA World Championship reign in a video you can see by clicking here.

Bob Backlund and The Iron Sheik, who had a couple of matches in Madison Square Garden, most notable being when Sheik beat Backlund for the WWF World Title in 1983, will be doing a podcast together on July 22nd at 2:30pm from the Five Sullivan Brothers Convention Center in Waterloo, IA. Both will be inducted into the Tragos/Thesz Hall of Fame together along with Joe Blanchard, Chael Sonnen, and J. J. Dillon that weekend.

Matthew Thomas of TheSportster.com wrote a story entitled "Aging Terribly: Top 15 Wrestlers Time Hasn’t Been Kind To" and coming in at #1 was Dynamite Kid. Others on the page include Mick Foley at #14, Abdullah the Butcher at #5, and Kamala at #2. To read the entire story, click here
