JR's Blog: Meltzer & JR on Ross Report, Kevin Sullivan Next Week, BEDLAM, WrestleMania Texas, 50/50 Booking is Lazy & Unproductive, ROH/NJPW PPV, Daniel Bryan, Use JR's Products for Holiday Gifts

Happy post Thanksgiving Day to all who celebrate the holiday and that on this day is famous for 'left overs' of which I endorse and enjoy. This week's Ross Report Podcast is one of our most downloaded shows in a long while with @DaveMeltzerWON as we talk booking, WWE, TNA, ROH, NJPW, Ronda Rousey and much more. It's a FREE show, as always, at podcastone.com and you can subscribe for FREE at iTunes and never miss a show and always get the newest show automatically downloaded into the device of your choice plus it really helps us grow our brand. Next week we start a riveting, two part Ross Report with former wrestler and booker man Kevin Sullivan in one of the most compelling shows that we've done. A new Ross Report Podcast drops every Tuesday night at 9 ET.

Headed to Stillwater, Oklahoma soon to support my Oklahoma Sooner football team as they attempt to defeat their one loss, in state rival and the alma mater of Jack and Jerry Brisco, Oklahoma State University. If OU wins they are the Big 12
Conference champions and should qualify for the CFB Playoffs as one of four teams who will compete for the National Championship. OSU has a helluva team that' lost only once this year so this Bedlam game is going to be a Slobber Knocker! The game is going to apparently be played in freezing rain, temps in the low to mid 30's and I ill be there on the Sooner sideline on prime time ABC TV for the national broadcast with black hat in tow.

Enjoyed having Thanksgiving with our long time friends Dennis and Lynn Brent in Carrollton, Texas. Dennis and Lynn worked with me in UWF, WCW, and WWE over many years and were our neighbors in Norwalk, Connecticut when we lived there while working for WWE. Dennis, who is battling MS, has one of the most amazing collections of wrestling memorabilia I've ever seen including the Black Scorpion mask worn by Ric Flair plus tons of items from the Von Erich's all the way through the WWE tenure.

Q&A's updated here on the site as of Friday morning.

Going to really be interesting to see how WWE begins to build momentum for WrestleMania Texas over the next several months as April will be here before we know it. I still feel confident that WWE will have over 100,000 people in AT&T Stadium on April 3 but am curious as to what the card is going to resemble. I can't recall the WWE Title being more 'tepid' than it is right going into the biggest event of the year for WWE. This is not an indictment on Sheamus who I have great respect for and love his work ethic but the title lost a great deal of luster after Seth Rollins suffered an untimely, major knee injury.

WWE has tons of work to do and they, nor anyone else, can get it done overnight or via 50/50 booking. A small nucleolus of talents has to get 'hot' and that only comes with being on the winning side of the equation more often than not.

The two most viable stars that WWE could bring in for WM32 or so it seems might be Goldberg and Batista. Austin and HBK are adamant that their wrestling days are history, Hogan is still on the outs with the company plus he doesn't need to wrestle a match with his back condition and Rock has movie commitments I'm told as does Ronda Rousey.

For those that think that Austin and HBK would do 'one more match' for the right money, please, just stop it.

Who else is out there that can still put asses in seats and have a solid wrestling match? We all should have know that this day was rapidly approaching.

My business manager is working on a variety of interesting projects for yours truly for 2016 that actually include some pro wrestling possibilities but are far from limited from that genre.

I made a flippant remark about joining Kevin Kelly and Steve Corino on the February ROH/NJPW PPV in Vegas and apparently some thought I was 100% serious. Let me make this clear, Kevin and Steve sure as hell don't need me to have a great broadcast but I'm a fan. I am a fan who used to broadcast wrestling as in almost 40 years worth. Why wouldn't I have fun being a part of a PPV featuring two brands that I support? I thought when I threw in the "get them coffee" line that most would 'get it.' Obviously, I was wrong.

As Dave Meltzer and I discussed this week on The Ross Report Podcast, if Dr. Joe Maroon, WWE's medical guru, doesn't clear Daniel Bryan we don't think it matters how many other doctor's say that it's OK for DB to return to the ring. If I was still in charge of WWE roster, I'd go strictly on what Dr. Maroon says.

Sad to hear of the passing of Tommy Gilbert who was a talented, territory era wrestler from Tennessee and was a really good referee for Bill Watts back in the day. The first time that I met Tommy he was driving a Firebird Trans Am ala Smoky and the Bandit and he resembled Burt Reynolds. RIP Tommy and condolences to your family and friends.

Brad Maddox, formerly of WWE, reminded me of Tommy Gilbert's late son Eddie Gilbert in the ring. 'Hot Stuff' was gifted with excellent ring psychology.

I'm not one who thinks that the talented Charlotte should emulate the signature moves of her father Ric Flair. The young lady is gifted and needs to cast her own shadow IMO.

I'm going to be recording two interviews each Monday night between now and the end of the year with some amazing personalities for new, Ross Report Podcasts. Lex Luger and Chyna are on the list.

Enjoy your weekend and thanks for supporting us. We are grateful to all of you.

Go Sooners! Win BEDLAM!!

BOOMER SOONER!
