JR's Blog: JC & TA on Stellar Ross Report Podcast, Taker Feature on FoxSports.com, Reid Flair issue, @RondaRousey, JR's for the Holidays!

Posted: Nov 21st 2015 By: Jim Ross

Thanks for the great feedback on our Fox Sports piece on Mark Calaway PKA The Undertaker that is live now at www.foxsports.com. http://www.foxsports.com/wwe/story/wwe-survivor-series-the-undertaker-kane-111915

We appreciate everyone supporting our ever growing podcast, The Ross Report, on podcastone.com, iTunes and right here on our site's home page. This week's show with Magnum TA talking about Dusty Rhodes and Roddy Piper is so moving plus Jim Cornette joins me and is his usual entertaining and opinionated self. Our podcasts are FREE and I encourage you to subscribe for FREE at iTunes so you never miss a show and they are automatically downloaded into the device of your choice every Tuesday evening at 9 ET.

Next week on the Ross Report, I will be joined by Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer to talk Survivor Series, the state of the wresting business, Ronda Rousey's shocking loss and what it means to UFC and whatever else is topical in the rasslin' biz and beyond. That new show will be live Tuesday evening at 9ET. I hope that you will download it for FREE.

Lots of dialog amongst fans and media regarding the use of the late, Reid Flair's name Monday night on the closing segment of RAW by his sister Charlotte and her challenger Paige as they looked to add a personal issue element to their title match that will take place this Sunday in Atlanta at the Survivor Series on the WWE Network.

My general rule of thumb is that most promotions are usually better off staying away from using someone's death, religion and politics in a pro wrestling storyline. I find it counterproductive in this situation that more people seem to be talking about the late, Reid Flair, who I knew his entire life, than they are about he actual title bout between Charlotte and Paige. Nonetheless I am very much eagerly anticipating that bout for which I have high expectations.

Congrats to TNA Impact Wrestling for finding a new, TV home in the States on POP TV that debuts with a live show on Tuesday January 5. Tuesday night will be the new night for TNA beginning in January. I am not a regular viewer of POP TV but will certainly find them to watch wrestling when it moves there.

Thinking that it will be Reigns vs Ambrose Sunday in the finals of the WWE World Title Tournament with one of them 'stabbing' his friend in the back. I'd prefer it was Reigns joining the Authority as I think a long association with the Authority would position Reigns perfectly for a fan favorite turn late next year. However, depending ont he execution of that piece of business I have no major issue seeing Ambrose in that Authority Champ role.

Never say never but what if Reigns and Ambrose have one helluva physical, grueling match, one of them wins and MITB winner Sheamus comes in, picks the bones, and leaves as WWE Champion which would make the bosses happy.

Anyone who truly believes that @RondaRousey losing to Holly Holm last Saturday night is going to do irreparable harm to Ronda's career is someone I don't want doing my taxes or giving me directions. Ronda's situation provides UFC with an amazing opportunity to tell Rousey's story of regrouping and 'getting back on the horse.' Rousey vs. Holm at UFC 200 would be a fight I'd love to see in person.

Who's the best heel in WWE right now? Loaded question, right? I'd cast my vote for Kevin Owens but he's not alone in having main event potential but WWE needs to coach up their heels on the nuances of being a wrestling villain. They have the staff to get it done if it is prioritized.

ROH moves to Comet TV in December so be sure and check them out. I watch ROH on OKC's local Sinclair Broadcasting stations. ROH has improved their TV production and continues to be an entertaining hour of pro wrestling. It's amazing how well the genre still does in the traditional, one hour format.

Good to hear that James Storm was back at NXT TV tapings in Orlando this week but to the best of my knowledge the cowboy hasn't signed with WWE as of yet. Storm can help WWE in a multitude of ways IMO.

The Q&A's elsewhere on our site are updated. Check them out while you're here.

Involved in a nice meeting yesterday regarding the annual, July weekend in Waterloo, Iowa at the Dan Gable Museum as it relates the Lou Thesz/George Tragos pro wing and all the festivities that will be ongoing July 15-16. All fans should attend this family friendly event at least once in their life. The museum is awesome.

Huge game in Norman Saturday night on ABC at 7 CT when my Oklahoma Sooners play the 9-1 TCU Horned Frogs in a key Big 12 conference game where the loser is out of the national title hunt. My wife and I had dinner with ace play by play talent ad old friend Brad Nessler Thursday evening in Norman at Charleston's restaurant. It's going to be COLD but you will likely see a black hat on the Sooner sideline if you tune in.

Jim Cornette made some excellent points as to how the UFC is utilizing some tried and true, old school pro wrestling tactics in a variety of areas. Listen to JC on the Ross Report this week or when you want on podcastone.com, iTunes, and here on the homepage of our site. Some MMA diehards are going to vehemently disagree.

Done any holiday shopping yet? We'd love it if you considered using JR's delicious products for gifts/stocking stuffers. Please visit www.wweshop.com and www.americansoda.co.uk for easy ordering and fast, home or business delivery.
