JR's Blog: Mike Tenay on Ross Report Podcast Tonight 9 ET, RAW Thoughts, Can ROH/TNA/GFW All Work Together? Grill w/ JR's from wweshop.com

Posted: Jul 1st 2015 By: Jim Ross

Another busy week for yours truly before heading next week to Waterloo, Iowa to the Dan Gable Museum/Lou Thesz-George Tragos annual HOF weekend on July 10-11. Next week is a couple of days of production for the documentary film 'Mid Atlantic Memories' which will premier on Thursday July 30 on night one of the annual NWA Legends Fan Fest in Charlotte, North Carolina. For more info visit www.nwalegends.com.

One of my favorite Ross Report podcasts drops tonight at 9 ET/6Pacific on podcastone.com, iTunes and here on the home page of our website when I welcome my old friend and a great broadcaster Mike Tenay to the show. This is the first of a two parter that I know that you will enjoy and encourage you to subscribe for FREE at iTunes so that you never miss a show.

The Q&A's here on the site have been updated. Please keep your questions succinct as that gives them a better opportunity to be answered.

RAW Thoughts:

Loved the Cena vs. Cesaro match but wasn't overwhelmed with how it ended. Nonetheless the match itself was excellent and showed that Cesaro is one of he best talents in the entire business and is certainly an untapped talent within the WWE, IMO. The United States Title Open Challenge by Cena is one of the best things that WWE has done creatively in a good while. I've enjoyed it every week.

Thought more could have been made of how resilient Roman Reigns was in attempting to continue to fight back against seemingly insurmountable odds to only endure the same fate as Brock Lesnar did on a prior RAW. Roman Reigns showed amazing heart to only be overcome by the numbers game.

If Paige has no allies within the Diva locker room then why did she win her match versus Alicia Fox who is another underutilized talent in my view? Paige might be better off succumbing to the odds until reinforcements arrive or are developed.

Nice promo for the Beast in the East broadcast for the WWE Network. Lesnar is money.

Thought Ziggler looked uncomfortable and it seemed the audience did not know quite how to react when Lana said that she and Dolph were more than friends. Lana has a great look and displays the 'it' factor sporadically which may mean that she's destined for more WWE Films in the future unless she also learns to handle herself in the ring.

Until a personal issue of a serious nature is created, the tag team scene simply feels like 'filler' material more often than not. There's often times too much comedy but I do like the potential of the teams that are assembled but they seem to be after thoughts more often than not. This is a matter that can be easily remedied.

Waiting for the "King" Barrett persona to click. The question is, will it? I do like his potential bit O wish that he wold cheat more.

Enjoyed Sheamus vs. Neville and it was one match that could have used a couple of short promos to help the fans emotionally invest in the contest. Neville is the type of underdog talent that if he were to get on a roll could likely really get over with the fans.

Today's wrestling fans seem to have a short attention span for many things but the one thing that they can all relate to is a wrestler getting 'hot' and getting on the proverbial roll. That's why, in any promotion, that 50-50- booking helps no one. Many fans emotionally disconnect when they see illogical in ring maneuvers which are generally the fault of the talents and less than solid fundamental skills. All talents wold be better serve to only do what they can execute well and believably.

Get your tickets for my two, Summer Slam week RINGSIDE w/ Jim Ross shows as tickets are moving quickly. Wednesday August 19 at the DC Improv with tickets starting at $25 at dcimprov.com and the box office and for Saturday August 22 in New York City at the Gramercy Theatre with tickets on sale at ticketmaster.com and the box office. Both shows start at 8 pm with the VIP Meet/Greet/Photo Op's starting at 6. VIP tickets are selling rapidly so don't be left out. General Admission tickets for both shows are only $25. Two full hours or more of stories and No Holds Barred Questions and Answers that you will enjoy....guaran-damn-teed.

ROH's Mike Elgin is on next week's Ross Report followed by Josh Barnett, John Pollock who will review WWE Battleground with me, and then my conversation with Al Snow drops on Tuesday July 28. Also coming up are authors Paul O'Brien and Brian Solomon, former WWE ring announcer Justin Roberts, the team of Demolition, and the duo of Jackie Gayda-Haas and Ryan Shamrock aka Alicia Webb. The podcast business is picking up every month of which we are grateful to all of you for listening.

I'm of the mindset that ROH, TNA and GFW should have a civil, working relationship to some degree as adding their various assets together in a timely fashion might help all three organizations and might even encourage more viewers to find Destination America. Talent trades, interpromtional storylines, invasion type situations, and freshening up their rosters can't hurt any thing. The question is and wil always be can all the egos be checked at the door for the good of the business and the fans?

www.wweshop.com has plenty of JR's products in stock awaiting your order so start your grill!

This is our second blog that I've posted this week here on the site. Thanks for dropping by and bookmark us and come back any time.
