NEWS
Daniel Flynn posted on Facebook "ATTENTION: You have another chance to try out to be a professional wrestler. Professional Wrestling is not for everyone, but if you have the heart, determination, and respect for the business the opportunities are here, it is up to you to make the commitment to want them." The tryouts will be held at the Highland Park Shopping Center in Siloam Springs, AR on June 27th at 10am. Interested wrestlers should contact Daniel Flynn or Arkansas Championship Wrestling.

Last week at the start of the NXT tapings, Triple H along with everyone at NXT came out on stage to honor Dusty Rhodes who passed away at age 69 last week. A very emotional Triple H spoke about how they lost a family member and how Dusty called everyone on stage his NXT kids. He said these were his family, his lifeblood, and gave everything he had for them. Addressing the crowd, Triple H said, ?If he called these guys and girls his NXT kids, then all of you would have been his NXT family.? He then told everyone at Full Sail University to stand up and honor Dusty Rhodes with a 10 bell salute. Most on stage were crying as Triple H spoke and even he had trouble keeping it together at the beginning. You can see the video by clicking here.

Six days after passing away at age 69, WWE Hall of Famer Dusty Rhodes was honored by his family, friends, and co-workers at a funeral service held at the St. Lawrence Catholic Church in Tampa, FL. The Tampa Bay Tribune reported that two buses filled with NXT stars and those training at the Performance Center arrived at the funeral an hour before scheduled start time while other WWE Superstars and Divas, including Seth Rollins, Daniel Bryan, Mark Henry, and many others who worked with Dusty in the past were also present. The McMahon family were there as well. Cody Rhodes read a eulogy and published it on his Twitter at Twitter.com/StardustWWE, while his brother Dustin also posted his at twitter.com/Goldust. The funeral service was only for family and friends and no fans or media were allowed in. The Tampa Bay Times reported that only four fans showed up and were ordered to remain on the sidewalk off the premises while WWE security were in charge of keeping photographers 50 yards away from the church entrance. The funeral service lasted 45 minutes and was followed by a reception in the courtyard of the church. ?We are truly grateful for the outpouring of love and support from Dusty?s colleagues and fans around the world,? said the Runnels family in a prepared statement distributed to the press through the WWE. ?Our family appreciates that you continue to respect our privacy at this difficult time.? You can see arrival photos from the funeral service by clicking here.

Dusty Rhodes' funeral was Wednesday in Tampa, FL. All of the NXT developmental talent attended as well as most of the main roster based in Tampa as well as the major players in WWE like Vince McMahon, Stephanie McMahon, and Triple H, as well as people like The Undertaker, Ric Flair, Magnum T. A., Tommy Dreamer, J. J. Dillon, Missy Hyatt, Hector Guerrero, Pat Patterson, Bugsy McGraw, and a number of former wrestlers who settled in Tampa. Even though their grandfather, Blackjack Mulligan, was in critical condition, both Bray Wyatt and Bo Dallas were there. The family gave speeches. The speeches were more about Dusty Rhodes the father and the husband and not so much the wrestler.

Barry Windham's father, Blackjack Mulligan, suffered a heart attack on Wednesday morning. He had been scheduled to undergo brain surgery to relieve pain on his brain but those plans were canceled.

Oklafan extends condolences to the family and friends of "Nature Boy" Buddy Landel, who passed away on June 22nd due to complications following a recent car accident. He was 53 years old. Born William Ansor on August 17, 1961, his family ancestory can be traced back to King James I. He also could count William Shakespeare and Confederate Brigadere General James Pettigrew (of Pickett's Gharge fame) among his ancestors. He began his wrestling career in November 1979 using his real name and under the tutelage of Barry O, who happened to be dating Landel's sister at the time. His first opponent was Barry O's brother, Cowboy Bob Orton, Jr. For a while he was also known as Buddy Roop, the brother of Bob Roop. But it was after his sister suggested the name Buddy Landel that his career took off. He began using the nickname "The Nature Boy" and faced Ric Flair several times including once in Raleigh, NC which shattered attendance records that had previously been set by Elvis Presley. Late in his career he legally changed his name to Buddy Landel and after being named the most influential WWF/WCW Wrestler from Kentucky, he was named an honorary Kentucky Colonel in 1990. With his Corkscrew Elbow Drop and his Figure Four Leglock finisher, Landel amassed over 22 titles in his career including the AWA Mid-America Championship (4 times), the AWA Southern Championship (twice), the NWA Mid-America Championship, the NWA National Championship, the NWA United States Tag Team Championship (with Doug Gilbert), the MSW Television Championship, and the Tri-State Championship. Landel was a mainstay in Bill Watts' Mid-South Wrestling and Universal Wrestling Federation and was a well traveled wrestler throughout his career. His first documented appearance in Oklahoma was May 16, 1982 in Oklahoma City for MSW where he defeated The Turk. His last documented appearance was November 19, 1990 in Tulsa for NWA where he lost to Brian Pillman.

PWInsider reported that wrestling legend ?The Nature Boy? Buddy Landel passed away on Monday at the age of 53. Landel was reportedly in a car accident the previous weekend and returned home but was found unresponsive on Monday. Landel had runs with WCW, Mid-Atlantic Wrestling, Smoky Mountain and other promotions. He was hired by WWE in 1995 but suffered a bad knee injury just days after being hired.
