JR's Blog: Jim Cornette on Ross Report Podcast, RINGSIDETickets Going Fast, Samoa Joe, Awesome Kong, Boston Celtics Broadcast, Larry Z, Daylight 'Mania

Posted: Mar 18th 2015 By: Jim Ross

Tonight (Tuesday) at 9 pm ET my conversation with the incomparable and outspoken @TheJimCornette drops on The Ross Report on podcastone.com and iTunes. It's a helluva conversation that I know that you will enjoy and we cover plenty of territory of interest for all wrestling fans. I hope that you will check it out and enjoy it as much as our amazing podcast with @RealMelina.

Tickets are beginning to get scarce for the RINGSIDE w/ Jim Ross Show that will be Saturday March 28 in San Jose at the Rockbar Theater at 1pm. $20 tickets are still available at ticketweb.com and on the day of the event at the venue. This will be a kick ass show that I feel confident that all will enjoy. We have an interesting array of guests coming but no one more important than you. Join us if you can.

I had a great conversation Monday night with @SamoaJoe for a future podcast. Joe is one of the most intelligent and perceptive athletes that I've spoken with on our podcast and I certainly hope that WWE signs him as he could be invaluable in multiple areas for the wrestling side of the company IMO. It was the first time that we had talked in over a decade when I told him that, at that time, he wasn't ready to be signed to a WWE contract to which Joe said motivated him and that he respected my honesty. Over the years I've become a big fan of his physical style but him getting trained in the Japanese style of wrestling helped him a great deal to become the star that he is today.

On my podcast with @RealMelina we talked about Kharma aka Awesome Kong who is one of my favorite lady wrestlers and notice that I did not use the term "Diva." There;'s a question now in the Q&A's section of the site addressing that matter as some feel that I have a personal grudge against the young lady which is asinine to say the least. I have no issue saying that Kia Stevens is a lady wrestler and not a dainty diva and/or a "10" based on the perception of many in today's world. She is one of the main reasons that I watch TNA on Friday nights.

Great seeing Sting on WWE TV which, for the longest time, I thought would likely never occur. Steve Borden is one of the best men in the biz and has always been a class act and one of my favorite people to work with over the years including his early days working in Mid South for Cowboy Bill Watts. I am beyond thrilled to see Sting finally get his 'WrestleMania Moment' this year as it is well earned and will be a moment that I will personally celebrate with The Stinger. Good things do often times happen to good people even in the wacky world of 'rasslin.

It's hard to image just how good RAW would be if Paul Heyman were not at the top of his game. @HeymanHustle has been at a main event level for months in representing Brock Lesnar on TV. Paul, once again, was a shining star on RAW Monday night.

I've stopped trying to answer all the inquiries about RAW being a three hour broadcast. For significant financial reasons it is three hours long because that's what the USA Network requires but for anyone to think that have a magic formula to make a three hour, live TV program within the genre great is laughable.

Tickets are still available for WrestleMania and with daylight savings time notwithstanding the early, West Coast staring time, this 'Mania may be held completely in the daylight which is different.

Wednesday night check out the Boston Celtics radio network and catch me with my pal @SeanGrande, the radio voice of the Celts, when they take on the desperate OKC Thunder who's battling to make the NBA playoffs with an injury prone lineup.

Happy for Larry Zybszko going into the WWE HOF with Bruno Sammartino set to induct him. We all have our mentors and Bruno was Larry's and the two Pittsburghers made money and had excellent matches together including the much ballyhooed Shea Stadium event back in the day. Larry was one of the more underrated broadcasters to work in the wrestling biz, too.

WWEShop is working diligently to restock their shelves with their most recent shipment of JR's products so stay turned. We thank you for being patient and certainly for your support.

Sounds as if Kevin Nash will be the final inductee into the 2015 WWE HOF class and for that I'm happy. When Kevin couldn't get the time of day when he first started in WCW, I used him my WSB Sunday night radio show and everyone soon found out that the former Tennessee Vol could talk and talk well. We've been friends ever since.

Thanks for stopping by and please download and subscribe to the Ross Report Podcast and enjoy the Jim Cornette episode this week and all the other great shows we've been privileged to bring you over the past year and change.
