JR's Blog: Ross Report Podcast Having Huge Week, Roman Reigns, Doc & Gordy, Sheik to Join JR on Podcast Tuesday, Bare Knuckle Boxing, "What Now?" Film Nears, NXT Impresses, NJPW Tonight & TNA, Too

Thanks for stopping by as the week comes to an end. Check out this week's Ross Report with Super Genius and Pittsburgh radio personality and former WCW broadcaster Mark Madden on podcastone.com, iTunes and on the home page of this site. Mark holds nothing back as he reviews the Royal Rumble and the overall lay of the pro wrestling landscape. Downloading and subscribing cost nothing and I'd appreciate the support. We don't have the where with i all to get any guest that we'd always like or a TV network or show like RAW to help promote our brand but we are doing great thanks to all of you. Let's Grill....

Just some random thoughts based on some questions and topics that have been presented to us this week since the 'controversial' Royal Rumble went down Sunday in Philadelphia:

No one was booing Roman Reigns at live events prior to the Rumble. People booed Reigns because Daniel Byran did NOT win the Rumble match and not because Roman DID.

In hindsight, like Orton, and Sheamus, Daniel Bryan should not have been booked in the Rumble match.

I still feel that the next several WWE TV broadcasts will hold new and provocative content as it relates to the Rumble matters leading into WM31.

Fans often times forget that there are multiple, 'right' ways to do something regarding storylines, etc in the biz. It's been that way since I can remember.

For those asking it's much easier to learn the physical fundamentals of wrestling for money than it is to master the art of verbal communication. The key to that component is to be one's self as best as the producers allow one to be.

If you do your research, you will find that most aficionados of the biz agree that Dr. Death and Terry Gordy were one of the greatest teams in the biz in any era. Their matches with the Steiner's were amazing in WCW.

Daniel Bryan got a key victory over Kane on Thursday night Smackdown but I still am leery that most fans won't like who DB faces at WM31 unless it's in a title bout or should I say it's in THE title bout.

This Tuesday m conversation with the Iron Sheik and co-executive producer of his documentary, Jian Magen, will join me on the Ross Report Podcast on @PodcastOne.

My convo with Ken Shamrock this week about his April BKB ie Bare Knuckle Boxing event in Manchester, England was amazing and The World's most Dangerous Man was on top of his game. Fighting in a new genre is ballsy. This podcast drops on Tuesday Feb 17.

While many still question WWE's decision to postilion Roman Reigns where he's headed apparently, I applaud the long term planning component of the process. I do agree with many that Reigns is a work in progress but he's got a great upside IMO.

I love this, any time a villain says he's going to put an end to a particular controversy, it generally means he's going to add to said controversy.

Really like our list of upcoming Ross Report podcast guests who have great stories to tell and the entire line up for the next several weeks is located/listed on the home age of this site. Check them out and I think that you will agree with me. Love their openness. We're getting great numbers thanks to you folks but I often wonder how we'd be doing if we had a TV show to promote on.

While I'd enjoy seeing Hulk Hogan have a final, final match I am curious to how his rebuilt back would endure it as he couldn't do the match and never leave his feet. If he does a final, final should it be at WM31 or at WM32 where a new attendance record might be set?

Smart move by WWE to provide fans with a free month of the @WWENetwork in February leading into WM31 in March. Austin-HHH podcast has tough act to follow with Mr. McMahon's podcast with Austin a few months ago. Should be interesting.

Lots of interest on our side of the business after the Wrestle Kingdom 9 PPV from a variety of combat sports endeavors.

The trailer for the film 'What Now?' is set to go public any day now. It's a TV14 comedy that has a heavy pro wrestling theme that I think you will find very funny. Lots of wrestling references, some very subtle, and the cast includes cameos by DDP and Jake the Snake plus I finally get to be the heel that many feel that I truly am.

I'm pulling for Seattle to win two Super Bowl Titles in a row but I think that the Pats win. The Pats are the villains by and large thanks to inflate gate and Coach Belichick's surly personality but the dude can coach and is a physiological master. This could be one of the better SB games in years. I think I like the under which is around 47 points.

Really enjoyed @WWENXT this week. Sami Zayn vs. Kevin Owens is as good as anything on any TV wrestling show at this time. Adrian Neville has a huge upside plus the ladies of NXT are a great group thanks largely to Sara Del Rey. More weeks than not IMO XT is WWE's best TV wrestling show,

I could see WWE building their Divas division around Charlotte as a wrestling, win at all cost villain, who would then eventually evolve into a huge, fan favorite. She's special and could lead the charge in reinvigorating her gender's standing on WWE TV.

I will be appearing at the New England Fan Fest 5 on Friday June 26 and Saturday June 27 at the Rhode Island Convention Center in Providence, Rhode Island. More info forthcoming or go to www.neweenglandfanfest.com.

Looks like I have one or perhaps two films to do later this year of which excites me. Both are comedies. More info coming.

JR's Chipotle Ketchup left Oklahoma City Wednesday for WWEShop.com so Ketchup lovers rest easily. That's at wweshop.com.

Fans in the UK,. Ireland, and Europe can get JR's goods at americansoda.co.uk and beyondtheropes.co.uk as well.

Back to Roman Reigns....he would be an absolutely top 10 and perhaps higher to any wrestler draft that I would ever have using today's athletes as the draft pool.

Catch Mauro Ranallo and Josh Barnett tonight on AXSTV for their NJPW call. These guys 'get it.' Getting the talent over and now insulting one's intelligence is a simple rule of thumb.

I hope that the TNA crew while in Manchester is not staying in the Jury Inn. Not a wonderful experience but makes for good comedy material. TNA on Destination America tonight (Friday) so check your TV listings.

Q&A's here are updated.

Considering the circumstances and being taken out of their normal game and after having been in unusual circumstances, I thought WWE did well Monday night on RAW and felt like the Hartford crowd was ready for some fun Thursday night. Talents got a tough hand dealt to them as many won't get to go home before the next tour starts. No body said this stuff was easy. Can you say laundry?

Gym time....thanks for stopping by. Boomer Sooner!
