IZW January 17 Review

IZW January 17 Review

Posted: Jan 22nd 2015 By: Jacques ReBleau

The puppeteers in Impact, Inc. continue to pull the strings of seemingly everyone in the IZW World. Their use of blind-side attacks, multi-man beatdowns and constant manipulation of the rules make it to where you cannot turn your back on them for even a second. This was never more evident than on the night of January 17th.

Impact Inc had a taste of their own medicine early on as Jermaine Johnson interrupted a diatribe by the entire Impact Inc organization. He noted that Johnny Z had stated that he and Damon Windsor were going to take the night off and enjoy watching Bobby Starr and Aaron Neil take care of Impact Inc business and said it was typical that Z would want to take a week off to avoid the retribution he had coming his way from the beating Impact Inc laid on Johnson seven days earlier. He challenged the manhood of Johnny Z and said they should have the Violent Valentine IZW Championship match in the main event tonight! Z agreed to a match with Johnson but it would be Johnson taking on Z and his partner Damon Windsor. Z?s look of self-satisfaction wore off quickly as Jermaine smiled from ear to ear when the match was made and then brought out IZW Co-Commissioner ?The #1? Shawn McHale. McHale stated that while he can?t force Z to wrestler he can add to any match Z has already agreed to. So the main event would go on as planned, but Windsor and Z would face Johnson and his partner Jordan Jacobs! He then banished Impact Inc from the ring exept for Starr whose match with Double D would begin immediately.

It seemed as if Johnson, McHale and the rest of the IZW World were getting wise to Impact Inc?s tactics and even starting to use them against them. But that confidence would slowly fade away as the night wore on. D was able to get a strong win over the Impact Division Champion but no sooner did he get to his feet to celebrate his victory than he was attacked by his Violent Valentine opponent Aaron Neil. Neil brought with him the leather strap that the lumberjacks will all be brandishing in their Lumberjack strap match. Neil proceeded to mercilessly whip the hide of D, sending a strong message of intent that he will be the number one contender after Violent Valentine.

After Kevin Morgan destroyed a valentine sent by Lisa?s secret follower Damon Windsor made his way to the ring to clear the air about the situation. He claimed innocence to any stalking or wrongdoing of this Lisa but then went on to delve onto her personal life. Windsor said he had researched and that ?Lisa? was Lisa Gennero the ex-wife of Kevin Morgan. Well it didn?t take much of the airing of Morgan?s dirty laundry before the Image of Fear made his way toward Windsor but was jumped by both Bobby Starr and Aaron Neil. Windsor joined in and laid Morgan out with a shot from his metal briefcase. Starr and Windsor then left the ring and ordered the referee to begin the scheduled match between Morgan and Neil. Morgan tried to put up a fight but the damage was already done. Neil drove him down with Greetings from Mt. Olympus and got the tainted victory.

In the main event, however, things would be even as Impact Inc in the form of Johnny Z and Damon Windsor would take on the reunited What Wrestling Should Be. Impact Inc pulled out every dirty trick they could think of but were thwarted at every turn by the skill, determination and cohesion of Johnson and Jacobs. The former tag team champions were firing on all cylinders and working together seamlessly. They cut off an attack by Windsor and scored with a Minority Cutter and were setting up to do the same to Johnny Z when Windsor pulled Johnson from the ring and sent him into the steel ring steps. Jacobs acted quickly and went to go after Z solo but then came darkness?Total Darkness. The lights went out and when they returned Total Darkness was ready to strike, he lunged forward with a bicycle kick but Jacobs moved and Darkness nailed Johnny Z. Jacobs had the opportunity to go after his fallen opponent but instead grabbed Total Darkness and ripped at his mask, trying to reveal his identity. Just when it looked like we were finally going to find out who had been terrorizing Jacobs the lights went dark again. When they came back on Jacobs stood in the ring, mask in hand, closer than ever to finding out the identity of the elusive Total Darkness. But in that moment Jacobs lost his focus and seconds later found himself with his shoulders pinned to the mat for the count of 3.
Impact Inc yet again capitalized on a momentary distr4action to get a big win. Johnson and Jacobs could only look on in disappointment as even after the win Z and Windsor continued to badmouth them. Z has made a career of owning the one moment that can change a contest and being the greatest escape artist IZW has ever known. Every time it looks like he?s on his last leg he somehow squeaks out a win. But on February 7th at Violent Valentine there will be a decisive winner when one man pummels his opponent until he cannot answer the count of ten. But the question is; will that moment belong to Jermaine Johnson or will the IZW World be ruled by The Natural Born Leader once again?
