JR's Blog: STING DEBUTS AT SURVIVOR'S SERIES, Keller and Ross to break down Survivor Series on new, Ross Report Podcast

Posted: Nov 24th 2014 By: Jim Ross

Hello all! Thanks for stopping by as we take a quick look at Sunday night's WWE Survivor Series from St. Louis. Tuesday night at 9 pm ET. I will be joined on the Ross Report Podcast to review this PV with the 25 year founder and creator of the Pro Wrestling Torch brand Wade Keller. The Ross Report Podcast can now be accessed through the home page of this website for FREE and it can't be made any easier. Let's do some grilling......

Wade Keller and I will get on the phone Monday before RAW to discuss the WWE presentation of the Survivor Series Sunday night in St. Louis. This podcast will then drop, as usual, at 9 pm ET Tuesday night of which you can find here, at podcastone.com, and via iTunes. The thing that helps us the most is when you subscribe, which costs you nothing, but helps our subscriber count and thus helps us build value in our podcast. I also helps us pay for band width and other production costs that we incur on our weekly show.

Wade has ben running the Pro Wrestling Torch brand of his newsletter and website for a business he started 25 years ago. We should have an interesting conversation on a variety of topics.

My podcast with Matt and Jeff Hardy has been amazing. If you haven't heard it yet I strongly encourage you to do so. Just go to the home page here before you leave the site and click the play arrow.

Happy to see my old friend The Stinger debut at the Survivor Series Sunday night. Honestly, I wish I hadn't read so much material notwithstanding writing about the rumor of his return to the ring Sunday night. I'd have liked it better if I had not allowed myself to be preconditioned about Sting's arrival. I have no one but me to blame. Nonetheless it seemed like he got a good ovation from the St. Louis crowd that had an up and down night and has had many serious distractions the past several months which may have affected the ticket sales in St. Louis. Racially charged tragedies are obviously not the environment to promote a major entertainment event as it can't generally get media traction in the market. It was simply unfortunate timing for WWE.

HHH gave Sting the legend's welcome back to large scale TV. Well done. I hope we only see Sting wrestle one time....at WM31 and vs. HHH would work for me but we only need to see Sting wrestle once and that's at WM31 and then after that, if any matches, sparingly at best.

Using Mr. McMahon salvaged a too RAW like opening segment. Staring a show with star power that's unexpected is smart strategy.

Thought the main event, and this show was a one match main event, was nicely done. Good work by the staff to get this 10 man tag to have some continuity and flow. Thought Mark Henry and Rusev were well protected. Big Show KO'ing Cena was a shocker but what would have been the reaction if it was the other way around and Cena turned Authority w/ 'designs' on Stephanie and controlling the entire McMahon empire we find out in time. Hey, just thinking out loud.

Dolph used the tights for a pin but I don't recall it being mentioned which would have added a little more edgy flavor to Ziggler who's had more false starts then the Oakland Raiders. Admittedly, I may have missed that reaction but it was a big moment nonetheless.

The closing moments of PPV were dominated by HHH but even more by Stephanie who was superb in the closing reaction shots of the downtrodden pair of former power mongers before the show left the air.

How big a deal with some make of Sting and Ziggler having an extra long man hug celebrating their big victory? Didn't bother me but some will point it out in a much different way than did I.

Wasn't surprised by AJ losing the Divas title but the story of that biz is what is AJ's future as it relates to the WWE. She will be a big loss if she decides to take a leave. Very talented young woman. The newly wed deserves to have a life outside wresting.

Sorry...but the Rabbit gimmick is WAY out of my demo. Not pulling against it because it provides someone with work but it's not my flavor of sauce.

It will be interesting to see where the ten talents in the main event Sunday night go from a creative standpoint beginning Monday night on RAW. Ten talents need storylines after a big reset such as the Survivor Series appeared to be. The next few weeks are really big for Rowan, Ryback, Harper, and Ziggler with is new lease on life.

WWEShop.com should be restocked within hours and have all the JR's items back on their website. Bear with us as business has been especially brisk as we inch towards prime time holiday shopping. But that's good thing, right?

I personally needed more wresting from Ambrose and Wyatt before they went all 'Home Depot' setting up the TLC match in December...in three weeks. I like both guys work but perhaps a little more wrestling would have created a more stark contrast to the gimmicks.

I'll have much more to say Tuesday night at 9 PM ET on the new Ross Report Podcast with my special guest Wade Keller.

Check in with http://www.prowrtlingtees.com/jimross for all the info on their HUGE, Black Friday Sales Event coming up just a few hours.....stoe wide. Virtually every size is available and the apparel can be shipped any where.

Nice break out opportunities by many deserving WWE talents Sunday night as the brand needs to get hot and the way that's done is through featuring 'new' and building deliberately paced, personal issues.
