JR's Blog: Autobiography Update, Meltzer on Ross Report Rocks, Battle Ground MMA PPV Oct 3, No Lesnar at HiAC??, NXT Shines

Posted: Sep 26th 2014 By: Jim Ross

12 hour day today and two more on the way as we are working diligently on my autobiography while embedded at the best hotel in Norman, the Sooner Legends Inn and Suites with attorney Scott Williams and his enormous collection of research material that is absolutely mind blowing. We're doing a load of work as we are essentially working on two books with the hope of getting book one completed and ready to shop around by the spring or summer of 2015. Let's grill....

The Dave Meltzer Ross Report podcast covers a gambit of topics including this past Sunday's WWE Night of Champions PPV, the future of Brock Lesnar including the potential of him returning to UFC or another MMA company, the huge upside of female wrestler Charlotte, what's ahead of Impact Wrestling, WrestleMania 31 and so much more. The podcast is FREE and can be downloaded at podcastone.com and via iTunes. Dave Meltzer @davemeltzerWON is one of the brightest minds in the world when it come to pro wrestling and MMA.

Your best bet and what helps us the most is to Subscribe for FREE to the Ross Report at iTunes as you won't miss an episode of our highly ranked podcast.

In my spare, time I am doing research on my first MMA play by play assignment which will be next Friday October 3 from Tulsa and on PPV produced by Battle Ground MMA where I will partner with Chael Sonnen on the broadcast that features the return of the one night, 8 Man Single Elimination Tournament with the winner earning 50K. This event is being carried by many major cable systems and I hope that you will give us a shot on what will be an unpredictable, exciting. night. This is going to be a down and dirty night of fights in the cage That begins at 10 eastern/9 Central time.

I have many, great friends in the MMA world helping me prepare for this long awaiting, eagerly anticipated opportunity.

What started the trend that it takes a main event level talent using their finish MULTIPLE times on another top hand to win a match? Why is that lame trend on going? If one has to use their vaunted finish multiple times to beat another talent then is is really one's finish?

If the in ring psychology was more refined and made more common sense, we wouldn't be seeing someone have to take another's go to finish multiple times to lose. For those who think that matter helps a match then they are out of touch with the genre. It's all about protecting the loser obviously instead of it being all about getting the winner truly over.

Is there really a debate that Sting should or should not compete at WM31? Really? Seems like a no brainer to me. The second part of our Sting conversation on the Ross Report had approximately 1.5M downloads and that number is still growing. That specific market research says there is an interest in WWE fans wanting to see the Stinger have his WrestleMania Moment. I see the WM31 card being an ensemble type show and any one who thinks that Sting can't contribute to that ensemble is out of touch.

Another outstanding NXT show which is becoming the best TV broadcast that WWE produces IMO.

Curious to see the creative and impactful way in which WWE builds and then introduces the next wave of NXT talents. If they don't come in on top then the likely hood of them getting there and staying on top is even more challenging.

Thanks to all who take the time to support my family's efforts by shopping online for JR's products from WWEShop.com, Americansoda.co.uk and Beyondtheropes.co.uk. You will get great packages, an outstanding product and quick delivery from courteous staffs.

Have you looked lately at all the new tees we have at http://www.prowrestlingtees.com/jimross

We plan on resuming our one man shows in the early part of 2015 and have some intriguing offers to take the show outside North America.

Some are saying that no Brock Lesnar at this year's HIAC in Dallas? That's the rumor and a head scratcher.

WGN America is allegedly one of the suitors for Impact Wresting even though baseball preemptions may be an issue. I am pulling for Impact to stay alive and well. Best of luck to them.

Did you know that Jerry Lawler and I were the original broadcast team for Smackdown episode #1? That's not likely to make the Friday night celebration. :) I wonder why??

All my podcast guests for the rest of the year are listed on the homepage of this site. This makes it easier for my competition to scoop in an rip off our guests. :)

Next week's Ross Report features an amazing conversation with Magnum TA Terry Allen which I think could be our most listened to show to date. Again, it helps us greatly if you subscribe for FREE to the Ross Report at iTunes. You won't miss a show plus it helps our numbers immensely.

It's back to the Sooner Legends Inn and Suites in Norman the next two days, the best place to stay in Norman for OU home games, and resume writing what is shaping up to be a fun albeit it challenging project writing my autobiography.

Q&A's are updated here and I invite you to check them out. All of them did not make the cut and many were eliminated as they were WAY too long. However, we did have some really intriguing questions to address.
