JR's Blog: Monday Blog, WWE Night of Champions, Meltzer on Ross Report, @FoxSports, Online Biz Rolling, @GoBGmma on PPV Oct 3 w/ Chael Sonnen

Another beautiful Monday in Norman, Oklahoma as the days draw near for my MMA play by play debut on Friday October 3 on PPV for Battle Ground MMA and the return of the one night, 8 Man Single Elimination Tournament with the winner earning, and I do mean earning, 50K. Let's grill...

Recording the Ross Report tonight with Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer @davemeltzerWON to talk WWE Night of Champions, Impact Wrestling's future, ROH, Japanese Wrestling, MMA, and much more. The podcast will drop as usual on Tuesday night at 9 pm eastern time on podcastone.com and iTunes. Dave is the guru of all wrestling journalists as it relates to tenure and his knowledge of all things pro wrestling and MMA is extraordinary.

Next week is another much anticipated podcast with Magnum TA which I predict will rank up with the best that we've done as it relates to hearing compelling information from a man with amazing character and fortitude who is extremely open and honest about his life and career that ended too soon because of a near fatal car accident. When we recorded this podcast, I felt it was one of the best conversations that I've had with any one. You will be the judge at the end of the day.

It helps us greatly if you subscribe for FREE to the Ross Report podcast at iTunes. It costs you nothing and you automatically get every episode downloaded so you won't miss a show. I hope that you will consider doing so if you haven't already.

Business with all our online shopping partners is good at wweshop.com, americansoda.co.uk, and beyondtheropes.co.uk as they all offer some great package deals with fast, efficient delivery. JR's products are just as effective and delicious in one's kitchen as they are on the grill.

WWE Night of Champions thoughts:

Solid show overall. Featured some good in ring action with a couple of really noticeably good contests. The Nashville crowd seemed to enjoy themselves by and large and when that occurs it helps make the show better for viewers.

Enjoyed the Usos vs. Rhodes boys tag title match. Thought it was a well chosen opening match. Hoping that the TV personas of the Goldust & Stardust characters are more defined as to what/who they are going forward. I don't know if they are fish or fowl, so to speak.

IMO the US Title match between Champion Sheamus and Cesaro was the match of the night. Great physicality, drama and compelling action for my taste. Congrats to both men. Cesaro could easily fill a viable fan favorite role on the depleted WWE hero side of the roster. There is money in 'face Cesaro if it is cultivated.

The IC Title match did not resonate to me watching at home but no one can fault the effort of the wrestlers who demonstrated excellent effort. I'm still holding out hope that the IC Title can become more meaningful as it was in the past.

Excellent, dramatic performance by Mark henry who lost to the latest villain to be moving upward, Rusev. It was the right finish and sets up the younger Rusev as a emerging talent. How Mark Henry hasn't been cast in a WWE Film in a significant role is surprising.

The Rollins/Ambrose brawl was a good piece of business. Both young men have bright futures and I'm somewhat certain that both will be WWE World Champion at some point in the future. Rollins leaving the PPV still with the MITB contract in tact is strategic.

Orton and Jericho had a stellar, wrestling bout. I wish Jericho's right leg had been more a part of the story but the two had a good bout to say the least. From the commentary one could not tell who was the hero and who was the villain but that very may have been by design. That isn't a complaint as both men got the star treatment as they should.

The Divas match was one of the stronger presentations from that division in a good while. Nice job by every one involved. As I have said many times, AJ Lee is the most compelling, in ring female wrestler in WWE right now and I'm anxious to see her work with Charlotte who's down in NXT...for now. These folks in this match should all be proud of their work in Nashville.

Enjoyed the intensity and the physicality of the Lesnar vs. Cena match but I wasn't overwhelmed with the decision even though I understand why it was the way it was. It seems as if it was a means of facilitating getting Brock and John to the Hell in a Cell PPV in Dallas in a little over a month. As a fan of Paul Heyman, I'd liked to have seen Paul somewhat more involved in the presentation Sunday night but I'm certain that @HeymanHustle will be front and center come Raw from Memphis.

With injuries, scheduling issues, etc one might expect WWE to somewhat 'reshuffle the deck' with 5 weeks to build to some new issues between now and HIAC.

BTW I watched the NOC on my iPad and had zero issues technically with the presentation. I've been a @WWENetwork subscriber since day one and remain happy with my buying decision.

Business has picked up at http://www.prowrestlingtees.com/jimross and the new designs on the site are doing great. If you haven't seen what's available lately, please take a peek.

Thanks to all for their kind remarks after my cameo on the @FoxSports CFB Pre Game Show Saturday night from Morgantown, WV prior to the OU vs. WVU Big 12 game of the week. I had a blast all weekend with all things football including the hospitality that I received from the WVU faithful.

Please check out the BattleGrounds MMA PPV event that Chael Sonnen and I will broadcast together on Friday night Oct 3 from Tulsa. The card is headlined by the 8 Man Single Elimination Tournament where the winner takes home 50K. Your local PPV provider has all your info. You can follow BattleGrounds MMA on Twitter @GoBGmma.

Have a great day and thanks for all your support of our Ross Report Podcast. We sincerely appreciate everyone who helps our cause.
