JR's Blog: Ross Report Podcast w/Grande, Schiavone Next Week, Russo/Impact "issues," Hogan vs. Lesnar?!, Follow JR on Twitter @JRsBBQ, Grilling is GOOD!!

Posted: Aug 22nd 2014 By: Jim Ross

Greetings from a balmy Norman, Oklahoma as I count down the days until kickoff for my @OU_Football team. It's grilling weather here so let's get started...

My conversation that's up now on the Ross Report with the play by play voice of the Boston @Celtics @SeanGrande is getting rave reviews. I think many thought we were going to talk NBA Hoops but, to the contrary, we had a great discussion about many facets of the wrestling business including announcing, booking, today's talents, the future of pro wrestling, etc and Sean's memories of being a massive, WWWF fan growing up in NYC and much more. Download the Ross Report for free at podcastone.com and via iTunes. This is a really informative podcast that I have to rank as one of my favorites. Plus, I give you my honest thoughts on this past Sunday's Summer Slam event in LA.

Enjoyed the @ImpactWrestling overall show Wednesday night especially the matches featuring Samoa Joe and Low Ki along with Gail Kim vs. Angelina Love. Also, I'm pleased that @SpikeTV extended Impact Wrestling until the end of this year and I;m hopeful that something can be worked out between the two. It would certainly help if all fans who can would watch Impact Wrestling on Wednesday nights so that it would give Spike more of a reason to continue to do business with Impact or encourage another USA cable TV entity to carry Impact.

If one is truly a fan of the business then watching all of it that is feasible and being supportive of all organizations from WWE to the indies is a good thing.

Been reading a little about Vince Russo coming on my podcast upsetting Impact honchos which, if true, is lame. Russo never knocked Impact on my podcast nor did we ever really address the brand in any detail. If it was that big a deal to Impact officials all they had to do was call me and I assure you that they have my number and I would have worked with them. The Russo podcast on the Ross Report will air on Sept 9 and you can be the judge.

Pro wrestling has long been wrought with paranoia and trust issues with talent and within management which goes back to 1974 for me, in particular. Most wrestlers, athletes, entertainers, etc are insecure by nature and even more so today with fewer places that they can go and earn a decent living. Add to that the abnormally short 'shelf life' for one in that field of endeavor and uncertainties become blown out of proportion unnecessarily.

That's another of many reasons why I have zero interest in getting back into the pro wrestling business full time even though I still love it today and will always be a fan. I can't turn off my passion for the genre that I've embraced since I was an 8 or 10 year old kid but re-entering that world is something that I never consider. I love my life in a non political, non sycophant world.

One untimely worded Tweet or entry here on a blog can divide the best of friendships plus one finds out who true friends are by how often each other communicates when one side of the equation leaves the biz.

When one is no longer doing such matters as doing payroll or booking, the phone calls are drastically reduced in a large part and that's especially brought to light when there's a health scare. Funny how that works, right?

Doing the Ross Report podcast has been cathartic for me inasmuch as I have re-connected with many old friends like @TonySchiavone24 who's on my podcast next week. A new show drops every Tuesday night at 9 eastern time on podcastone.com and iTunes of which every one no matter where you live can download for free. My conversation this week with @TheEdFerrara was great too.

Some one on an email here asked me if I thought Hulk Hogan was going to wrestle Brock Lesnar after Lesnar's "Grandpa" remarks during Hogan's 61st B-Day celebration. My answer is 'SURE' and that will happen right after I fight Brock in the Octagon with one hand tied behind my back.

Lawyers...can't live with them or without them as they have me waiting to announce what I hope will be something fun for you to enjoy with me.

Business has been so good at http://www.wweshop.com for JR's products that they are out of BBQ Sauce and Ketchup as i post this but reinforcements are on the way so bear with us and thanks to those who support our efforts at WWEShop.com.

americdansoda.co.uk and beyondtheropes.co.uk in England are stocked and doing great business too so CHEERS to all our mates in the UK, Ireland and Europe.
