JR's Blog: Wednesday Blog, Bully Ray on Ross Report NOW, Magnum TA, Kevin Steen, JR's B-Day Wish, Order JR's Online Today, Summer Slam notes

Good day from Norman, Oklahoma! There were technical issues on today's Ross Report Podcast featuring Bully Ray Dudley aka Bubba Dudley on @PodcastOne side of things but they have been fixed and I invite you to listen to the outspoken former ECW and WWE star and current Impact Wrestling main eventer on podcastone.com or iTunes. Let's Grill......

All our online business partners including wweshop.com, americansoca.co.uk and beyondtheropes.co.uk are all fully stocked with JR's products and they all have authentically signed autograph merch available in a variety of packages. http://www.wweshop.com has several new packages that I invite you to check out.

Anxious to watch Summer Slam from home this Sunday and hope that WWE doesn't overbook the show to where some matches are condensed in time to where they cannot tell a viable story. That will depend solely on the decision to add various backstage skits, etc which are fine in theory but they seem, throughout today's business overall, to generally run long. Wrestling fans, like everyone else, seemingly have short attention spans so these 'scenes' are better telling me what time it is rather than how to make the watch.

I've thought all along that Brock Lesnar would defeat John Cena for the WWE World Title in LA, which I still think is the right direction to go, but something tells me that WWE may go 'off speed' and perhaps utilize Plan B. Could Cena retain on Sunday and then lose to Lesnar on RAW on Monday? Lots of possible scenarios but at the end of the day, in my view, John Cena is so 'over' that he doesn't need the WWE Title. Now is a great time to commit to going younger and Lesnar winning and passing the torch at WM31 facilitates that theory.

Check out my piece on http://www.foxsports.com regarding the 'Polarization of John Cena' that was posted on Monday. Recruiting and developing talent is a daily, on going, non seasonal function and the advent of the WWE Performance Center will be a great tool as time goes on especially if these young talents get plenty of opportunities to work in front of a life, paying audience before they arrive on 'Broadway.'

My conversation with Magnum TA which airs on September 23 on the Ross Report was awesome. Terry Allen aka Magnum TA told some amazing stories of his short, six year, amazing career that was ended by a near death car accident that left him partially paralyzed including his thoughts on the Best of 7 series vs. Nikita Koloff and the I Quit Match with Tully Blanchard. Plus, he shared how his family paid the late Buzz Sawyer $10K to 'train' Magnum. We also talked about the plans for Terry to become the NWA Champion.

I assume that every wrestling website feels that printing the 'spoilers' aka 'The Jardine's' is important to their success. I don't want to know the end of any movie that I'm going to see before I see it and the same goes for a pro wresting show. What is the fascination with knowing this info in advance? Nonetheless, if it helps these sites more power to them as I don't have to read the info.

@steveaustinBSR has the @RealMickFoley on his podcast this week on podcastone.com. Steve is also going to MC the symposium for the 2KSports WWE 2015 video game this weekend. My stint as MC wasn't my best WWE memory but remember that there are two sides to every story and I haven't told my side yet. So, for my friend Stone Cold I suggest..DTA...as if he needs that feedback.

Happy for Kevin Steen to be signed by WWE and he will report to NXT in late August from what I hear. I hope that Steen's WWE wrestling persona isn't over thought or major league reinvented as I feel that the Montreal native has a solid foundation, is a great, natural brawler, and has mic skills. If WWE exposes Steen's strengths, they could have a success story on their hands. I am a fan of Steen's work.

Looks like I might have my January 3 birthday plans set as I'd love to attend the UFC182 event in Vegas which will now feature @RondaRousey, I hope, and the light heavyweight champion Jon Jones defending against Daniel Cromier.

I'm told from optimistic sources that should know that the prospects are good for Impact Wrestling to remain on cable TV after this current Spike Contract ends. I still think that there's a shot that Spike retains their wrestling product but time will tell soon enough. Though this is purely speculation, I can't see how Impact can make it over the long haul simply providing content to international entities. For the sake of all involved in Impact, I hope that things work out for them in a positive manner. I like their roster whose strength is definitely bell to bell physicality.

Take a look at the home page of the site while you're here to see the updated list of podcast guests that we've scheduled. It's going to be quite the podcast ride.

Really nice job by WWE editing the Lesnar-Cena 30 minute preview show. HBO has done a great job with this sort of show profiling their big fights and it's a concept that works IMO. I watched this show on the WWE Network that I bought on day one and will be renewing.

I've been getting amazing feedback on my fantasy booking idea, a Ross Report element, of a double retirement match at WM31 between Sting vs. Undertaker where both men, win, lose or draw, retire after the match. Has there ever been a Double Retirement Match promoted on a grand stage such as WrestleMania? It's a new concept and is a dream match for many long, time fans and with WWE's library, younger fans can be brought up to speed on both talent's personas. Cutting to the chase, the older fans who have control of the purse strings are the ones who will generally decide where the money is spend especially on a $9.99 monthly tab which is a meaningful investment for many.

http://prowrestlingtees.com/jimross is the place to visit to see our line of Tee's that are selling like delicious baby back ribs. Affordable worldwide delivery is available as are all sizes.

I will be tweeting from @JRsBBQ my Summer Slam thoughts live. Check us out Sunday night.

Remember that Bubba Ray Dudley aka Bully Ray is now on the Ross Report podcast at podcastone.com and iTunes. Subscribe for free and you won't miss an episode. We talk ECW, WWE, and Impact from a straight shooter, old school minded, tough guy.

Have a great day!

J.R. @JRsBBQ
