Dexter Hardaway will be the special guest on MWA Radio tonight at 10pm Central along with co-hosts Scott James & J. W. McGillicutty. Dexter has been promising a very special announcement regarding his future for a few weeks now and did call in two weeks ago to the show but due to time constraints, he was rescheduled for tonight. He has said he will make his big announcement on the show. To listen to the show, click here.
WWE Hall of Famer Jim Ross wrote the following on Twitter regarding next week?s WWE Draft and the 2008 Draft where he was sent to SmackDown: ?Not sure my presence will be needed yet @ wwe draft. I have no fond draft memories re: ?08 & going to SDown. Still don?t agree w/ decision.?
Jim Ross wrote the following comments on Twitter after the April 18th RAW: ?Well?.not exactly what I had in mind tonight from London. However, paybacks are hell. Ham & egg announcers knocking me are laughable. As Chris Farley said in Tommy Boy, ?Me need sleepy.? Extreme Rules tag will be bowling shoe ugly but it will be fun?I hope.?
Joey Styles noted on his Twitter account last night that doctors backstage at Raw believed Jim Ross have have broken his hand following his match with Michael Cole. Jim Ross later noted on Twitter that Cole?s tooth went to the bone on his fist: "Hand's throbbing. Xrays tues. Cole?s tooth went to the bone on my fist. Not an artistic masterpiece. Dropping bombs. Leather straps sun. Ugh.?
Jerry Lawler was recently at a Memphis Grizzlies-San Antonio Spurs NBA playoff game at the FedEx Forum in Memphis, TN. Before the game started he went out to center court to pump up the fans. You can see a video shot with a cell phone camera by a fan in the crowd by clicking here.
Former Maryland Governor William Donald Schaefer, who passed away this week, was featured at "King of the Ring" in Baltimore in 1994. Jerry Lawler, who worked with Roddy Piper in the main event on that show, called him Governor Budweiser.
The "WWE All Stars" video game official website has posted a notice about a problem with the first round of downloadable content for the XBox 360 system: ?This delay impacts the pre-order Million Dollar Pack (?The Million Dollar Man? Ted DiBiase and his son, Ted DiBiase), Honky Tonk Man free playable character for everyone and the American Dream Pack featuring Dusty Rhodes and his son, Cody Rhodes. We are fully aware of our initial intent to deliver the content by this time frame and sincerely apologize for this delay, as well as the unforeseen miscommunication of our plans.?
Reports of Ric Flair undergoing surgery to repair a torn rotator cuff are false according to WWE Hall of Famer Jim Ross. On his Twitter, Ross wrote that Flair didn?t go under the knife yet and had received a text message from him to check on his ?wrestling status.? Flair suffered the injury at the end of January while wrestling Douglas Williams during the TNA live event in London, England. He was somewhat written off TV during the "Lockdown" main event after he tapped out to Robert Roode during the Lethal Lockdown match. TNA commentator Taz also said on his Twitter that he and Mike Tenay were either given bad information, or the status of Flair?s shoulder changed from Tuesday?s television tapings to this weekend. Taz posted on Twitter "@JRsBBQ U been there MANY times. BAD info, taped show?w/quick turn around time. Some folks dont 'get it'".
Sting surprised a lot of people by stating during a recent interview with The Daily Star that he was offered a match against The Undertaker at WrestleMania XXVII as well as a spot in the WWE Hall of Fame. People within WWE have said that there were no formal talks between Sting and the organization. They also say that Sting was not offered a match against The Undertaker, but there was informal talk regarding a legends contract and a spot in the Hall of Fame. Meanwhile, TNA Wrestling sources believe Sting was telling the truth on WWE?s interest level.
In the power bomb spot in the Jeff Jarrett vs. Kurt Angle at the "Lockdown" PPV match on April 17th, Jarrett lost control of Angle and Kurt was able to rotate at the last moment to avoid a series injury. Jarrett did sustain broken ribs early in the match.
Kurt Angle claimed that not only did Jeff Jarrett break ribs in their match at "Lockdown", but that he dislocated his shoulder. He said people needed to see the replay, that it was the Match of the Year, and that it was just as good as his match with Shawn Michaels at WrestleMania.
After being checked out by the doctor, Jeff Jarrett has badly bruised ribs, but not broken ribs as first believed. He didn't wrestle last week but did do a physical angle with Kurt Angle.
Jeff and Karen Jarrett were honorary crew members for Joe Denette Motorsports at the Nashville Superspeedway this past weekend.
Mick Foley on Twitter said it wouldn't hurt to ask TNA if he could go to Raw on May 2nd to help The Rock celebrate his birthday.
Mick Foley was originally scheduled to receive the Cauliflower Alley?s 2011 Art Abrams Lifetime Achievement Award on Wednesday last week, but he received a phone call that TNA needed him to fly to Orlando for the "TNA iMPACT!" tapings Wednesday night. Foley received his award earlier, and left the Cauliflower Alley event.
Mick Foley is scheduled to return to TV soon.
A few notes from last week's Cauliflower Alley Banquet in Las Vegas, NV. It was a fun night. Because of age, a lot of the 70's regulars like Red Bastien, Don Leo Jonathan, Danny Hodge, Verne Gagne, and Mad Dog Vachon weren't there. No colorful stories about any old-time wrestlers getting drunk or making scenes. A lot of nice speeches. Among those honored were Rick Martel, who looked great and talked great and was put over by Nick Bockwinkel. Sgt. Slaughter, was honored as well and Roddy Piper gave a long speech about him calling him "Uncle Bob," his nickname for him. Others honored included The Honky Tonk Man (who sang his song), Pat Barrett, Rockin' Robin, and Awesome Kong, who taled about her career and how she was told she'd never make it in wrestling because she's not a skinny bitch. Pat Barrett & Domenic DeNucci, who were WWWF tag champs in the 70's got together for the first time in who knows how long. Ricky Steamboat was doing well, and was about 80% recovered but it was a devastating blow. Good to see WWE have a presence with Steamboat, Slaughter, Gerald Brisco, Tammy Sytch, Ted DiBiase Sr. and Jim Ross (who flew from London on Tuesday to Las Vegas). Lots of photographers shot posed shots of Steamboat with Mil Mascaras, who wore several different masks. Some other names there included Dick "The Destroyer" Beyer, Cheerleader Melissa (AKA Alissa Flash), B. Brian Blair, James J. Dillon, Terry Funk, Ross Hart, Smith Hart, Lord Zoltan, Darling Dagmar, Mando Guerrero, Gene LeBell, Jake Roberts, Tommy Gilbert, Doug Gilbert, Butcher Vachon, Bruce Swayze, Jack Armstrong, Riki Ataki, Bill Anderson, Dan Kroffat, and numerous others.
The Honky Tonk Man received an award from the Cauliflower Alley Club last week at their annual meeting in Las Vegas, NV. You can see a video of him receiving his award by clicking here.
Larry Zbyszko is booked for 2 different shows on April 30th, and it highly unlikely he could work both. One of the shows is in Portland, Maine with All Out Mayhem while the other one is in Caseyville, Illinois with High Voltage Wrestling.
Ross McCutchen said he talked to Tony Atlas about Atlas reportedly no-showing the K&S Wrestlefest Super Saturday event, and Tony said he was never booked for the event, the promoter talked to him about it a year ago and never since, and that when they did speak last year Tony declined.
The Al Snow "Mondo Wrestling a Go-Go" show on Friday night in Louisville, KY is a takeoff on the "Lucha Va Voom" shows that used to be held in Southern California on a regular basis as well as "Lucha Britannia", a British touring act that has done the same concept for years at night clubs and music festivals.
The February 26th edition of All Pro Wrestling which opened with a great video on Bay Area wrestling. The video had a lot of photos and audio sound bites of Ray Stevens, Pat Patterson, Curtis Iaukea, The Destroyer, Fred Blassie, Jimmy Lennon, Buddy Rose and many others. During the show there was a dicussion with Allan Bolte, Mike Lano, and Roland Alexander talking about the old Cow Palace Battle Royals. You can see the footage by clicking here.
