JR's Blog: Celeb Jerky Lover..Can Rey/Sin Cara Co-Exist?..Hitman vs. Angle..Rock..Bob Armstrong..Cole/Cornette..Ready For Grilling Season?

Posted: Mar 3rd 2011 By: CMBurnham

Beautiful day in Norman, Oklahoma. Thanks for stopping by. Here are some quick, random thoughts...

These are questions from emailers to our Q&A section and Tweets to @JRsBBQ:

Who's calling/broadcasting WM27? I honestly have no idea. I don't know the thought process in using Cole or King on the show as broadcasters. This is a WWE decision but if they don't announce this particular event, I'd find it challenging for them to, then I supposed that Josh Mathews wold be joined by Booker T and/or Striker, Grisham.

Perhaps WWE will enlist @JoeyStyles to get back in the saddle for one night only. Who knows?

Is there room for both Rey and Sin Cara in WWE? Absolutely. Why not? Do some feel that because both are Hispanic, masked stars that they cannot both be major assets in WWE at the same time. I think not. WWE is lucky to have both men. Rey is an established main event star and a future Hall of Famer while Sin Cara has a huge upside but has to prove himself to the WWE fans.

Check out the Q&A's I updated earlier today and read the one about Jerry Seinfeld eating JR's Beef Jerky and what he told a fan about it.

An emailers dram match would be one I would love to call, Bret Hart vs. Kurt Angle in a Submission Match. Very nice selection indeed. I would love to see Hitman at WM27 and you can follow him on Twitter @HitmanBretSHart. He's a fan of our products and we've shipped him sauces, etc to Hawaii and Calgary.

Wrote that I loved the remake of True Grit by the Cohen Brothers...I think they got hosed at the Oscars....but I was asked if I could ever see a remake of one of John Wayne's classics and a personal favorite, 'The Quiet Man?' That film is on hallowed ground IMO but it would be interesting to see who would be cast in the key roles of the classic that was filmed in Ireland. Please....no Sheamus or Finlay suggestions. :)

I agree with many emailers that Michael Cole is the type of antagonist that one legitimately wants to see get beat up and humiliated. He has Cornette-like heat hearkening back to the Mid South days where fans lined up in droves to see somebody, anybody humiliate the manager of the Midnight Express. Same emotion elicited by the late Andy Kaufman in Memphis. BTW most fans don't realize that the Lawler-Kaufman issue lasted well over a year.

The large Cowboy, Bill Watts, even put Cornette in a dress, a diaper and I think had JC drinking out of a baby's bottle while selling a ton of tickets. People loved to see the indignation of one of the territories all time, most despised villains.

I'll be showing my athletic prowess this week at the Bob Stoops Foundation Bowling Tournament in Norman. Coach Stoops has a great charity that helps kids in the Norman and OKC area.

Will Paul Boesch ever make it into the WWE HOF? Officially, I have no idea. IMO, no. Boesch was a great, local promoter in Houston but outside of that area Mr. Boesch was largely unknown. He was a smart guy who knew how to promote his major market and emotionally invest in his community that helped him create business relationships that in turn helped him become a successful promoter. I found him to be a little, old school stubborn (I'm accused of the same today) but his partnership with Bill Watts really clicked for a good period of time in the Sam Houston Coliseum on Friday nights.

BTW I had my first Whataburger in Houston if you're keeping score at home. Yes, Whataburger is my favorite burger joint on the road. By far.

I am personally ecstatic that The Rock is back in WWE for WM27 and no matter Rock's role he's going to positively add to the event in multiple areas. Rock is a huge star on several fronts and his promo ability is as good as it gets. People 'over think' Rock's return as in what's going to happen when he's not on TV? How does he make Cena/Miz look? What happens if Rock steals the show in Atlanta, etc?

All talents throughout the Raw and Smackdown rosters need to step it up to attempt to get on Rock's level. Competition is great for everyone. If Rock, Austin, etc make the incumbents dig a little deeper to perform at a higher level then everyone wins especially the fans.

I have no idea what Rock is going to do at WM27 but I can assure you that it will be impactful. His interactions via Twitter, @The Rock, directed to Cena, etc have been entertaining.

How anyone can intelligently argue that WWE made a mistake bringing Rock back for WM27 is goofier than a pet coon and need to stop drinking the bong water.

Enjoyed Monday Night Raw but found myself watching it a second time on DVR to make sure that I absorbed all the info that I needed to process while watching the program life. Whew.

Great to see Bob Armstrong being inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame. 'The Bullet' was a stud and one of the key players in the history of Georgia Wrestling and pro wrestling throughout the southeast without question. The former USMC vet was as real as it gets and had great passion in the ring to go along with his overall, superior skill set. Bob was reliable, hard working and a true, top hand. When Bill Watts was running Georgia, Bob Armstrong was one of the hard to please Cowboy's 'go to guys.' I always loved Bob's in ring work but his natural, organic, reality based promo skills were some of the best, too.

Bob Armstrong did not play the role of a pro wrestler. He was one.

Grilling season is upon us as is WM27 season. We'd love to be a part of each at your home or tailgate activities. Keep those orders rolling. The Sampler w/ Mustard is still our #1 seller and our Original BBQ sauce is rocking'. The Main Event Mustard is a main event level player on the team and compliments the Chipotle Ketchup and HOT BBQ sauce very well. Give us a shot as we want to earn your business.

Homeland Grocery stores in Norman, all 4 of them, have our products in stock now. If you are traveling down I-35 the Robinson Street store is off the Robinson exit just about a block or two east of I-35 and is open 24/7.

I'm headed out soon to pick up more JR's Beef Jerky which is big league when dipped in our Main Event Mustard.

Remember that if you live outside the USA you can enjoy all our products by checking out http://www.wweshop.com as we do not ship outside the USA but WWEShop does.

Thanks for stopping by and come back and see us soon. If you are reprinting any part of this blog please provide your readers with the proper link. Most do but some conveniently 'forget.'

Boomer Sooner!
