Breaking Treyfabe: Fishnets And Flying Legdrops

Breaking Treyfabe: Fishnets And Flying Legdrops

The Road to Wrestlemania is still being sorted out, here is one of my staff writer?s review of last Sunday?s Elimination Chamber:

It was one of the better WWE PPV?s in recent memory.

- The show started off with Kofi vs JBL? er Alberto del Rio (I refuse to disrespect the Spanish language by capitalizing the ?D?). It was a non-title match, which allowed for a submission victory by del Rio. Aside from being a solid opener, this match provided not one, but two of the best one-liners of the night: 1) Alberto noting that he was committed to excellence, but he really means it, not like the people of Oakland, and 2) Booker T on commentary stating that Kofi was getting his butt kicked so bad he should be saying ?Daddy, I don?t want none; I?ve had enough.?

- Match #2 was my choice for match of the night, the WWE chamber match. The Big Show was the replacement for Ziggler, but the biggest shocker to me was all five men were in the match before anyone was eliminated. Barrett was the first to go, followed by the Big Show, then Drew, and finally Kane. This left the two men who started the match, Rey and Edge as the final two. I began to worry, as it became possible that Rey and del Rio might face off in another typical Rey Mysterio match at Wrestlemania, but my prayers were answered with an Edge victory after both men hit their finishers and Edge hit a sweet second spear. Alberto hits the open chamber door for a beatdown of Edge, when Capt. Charisma returns to save his former partner!

- Next up, Booker T hits the ring to promote the new season of Tough Enough and announces the newest trainer for the show? Trish Stratus! Trish cuts a nice little hybrid promo pulling from the Rock and Booker T while taking a jab at LayCool (which would come into play later in the evening).

- Tag Team gold is on the line with Santino/Kozlov taking on the Corre, represented by Heath Slater and Justin Gabriel. A decent filler match, with Slater and Gabriel recapturing the gold.

- Teddy Long makes another round of thuggin? and buggin?, interrupting Vickie Guerrero as she tries to explain Dolph Ziggler?s actions that took Teddy out. He announces the rehiring of Kelly Kelly who quickly wants some vengeance against the Cougar. LayCool makes the save for Vickie, only to be laid out by Trish in 37 and 1/2″ heels.

- Lawler and the Miz put on a better than expected WWE title match, which might have made one think Vince would do the honorable thing and give the King a one day title reign, but alas it did not happen and the champ retains. If Vince didn?t let Flair get his win in 2003 for a short-term title run, I knew Lawler wouldn?t get one now, not with a Cena Wrestlemania match to be made? oops, did I give away the main event? Yep, I sure did. Even though I knew this would be the main event, since it did have John Cena in it, I still wonder why neither championship match was the feature bout. Call me crazy, but I am of the belief that a championship match should be on after a contender?s match.

- The swerve of the main event saw an early elimination of CM Punk after his door ?malfunctioned?, only to have the Anonymous GM put him back in the match. The Smackdown version of the Elimination Chamber was much better than the Raw brand, but this match had its moments. Morrison tried to dazzle in a high risk move from the top of the chamber, but it took to long to develop and failed to deliver. In the end, Cena delivers the AA, nailing Punk onto the steel for the final elimination. I?d give the event a solid three out of five headlocks as it gave a map for the road to Wrestlemania.

???????

Raw saw the return of two Superstars for those who did not watch it, with Undertaker and Triple H showing up?.are they going to fight each other at Mania? If Hunter were to break ?the streak? I?d honestly consider stopping my watching of WWE.

And now the for moment you?ve all been waiting for, in the spirit of the old What If? Comic books (which I loved), I give you ? Dream Matches.

This week?s match is

Jumping Bomb Angels vs. Hollywood and Vine

On paper, this match would look like a squash. The Jumping Bomb Angles have the impressive pedigree of being sole survivors in the women?s Survivor Series match they participated in in 87. At the 88 Royal Rumble they beat the Glamour Girls in a 2/3 falls match for the WWF Women?s Tag Team Titles.

Hollywood and Vine were from the very underrated Gorgeous Ladies of Wrestling (GLOW), and admitted obsession of mine. They were a fun heel tag team dressed in fishnets, but don?t forget these girls also held the GLOW Tag Team Championship.

I think this match would start with the JBA taking over for a few minutes in the beginning, with some strong drop kicks and double clotheslines?however it?d be a matter of time before Hollywood and Vine turned the tables and would wear down one of the Angels, keeping her away from her partner as long as possible. Then a hot tag would transpire, and again the Bomb Angels would use their aerial excellence to clear the ring of the heels?.however, this would put them in a bad spot. With the referee trying to control the mayhem with the girls fighting and flying in and out of the ring, Hollywood would roll up Tateno and hang on to her tights as the referee got the three count for your victors, the baddest girls on the Sunset Strip since Faster Pussycat ? HOLLYWOOD AND VINE!!!
