NEWS
Adam Thornstowe picked up a couple of awards recently. He was named NorCal Uncensored's Most Outstanding Wrestler for 2010 and his feud with Timothy Thatcher was Feud of the Year. He also finished 2nd in Wrestler of the Year and his tag team The Reno Scum (w/ Luster the Legend) finished 3rd in Tag Team of the Year.

There was much internal criticism of Sunday night?s announcing of Michael Cole, Jerry Lawler, and Matt Striker at the "Royal Rumble".

Some notes from the Royal Rumble: Rick the Sign Guy in the front row was surrounded by fans with "We Hate Sign Guy" signs. He also noted crowd was dead for Orton vs. Miz until Nexus came out. He said that Alex Riley and Michael Cole were high-fiving after Riley interfered in the Orton vs. Miz match. Cole jumped up and down in celebration when Miz scored the pin. Very funny. There were also fans dressed as Roddy Piper, Sgt. Slaughter, Iron Sheik, Bret Hart, Ultimate Warrior, Randy Savage, Ted DiBiase, Paul Bearer, and the Road Warriors.

Regarding the WWE Hall of Fame at WrestleMania XXVIII, there has been a lot of talk in recent days from inside the company that Abdullah the Butcher and Bob Armstrong are both under consideration for induction in Atlanta. Abdullah, who recently turned 70, resides in the Atlanta area where he owns a restaurant called Abdullah the Butcher?s House of Ribs. He was a star in various territories throughout the 1960s, 1970s, and 1980s winning titles all over the world. He won his first major title teaming with Jerry Graham in Vancouver in 1967. Incidentally, Graham was Vince McMahon?s favorite wrestler from childhood. "Abby" has never technically worked for WWE but his ultra-violent style served as inspiration for other wrestlers, including Mark Lewin, Kevin Sullivan, Cactus Jack, Kamala, and Sabu, among others, and he still continues to work on the independent circuit in a career that has spanned seven decades. Bob Armstrong, 71, is the patriarch of the Armstrong wrestling family. He has four sons (Scott, Brad, Steve, and Brian), all of whom became wrestlers. He had his greatest success in Southeast territories during the 1970s and 1980s, particularly in Alabama and his home state of Georgia. In recent years he?s appeared on camera with son Brian (AKA B. G. James) in TNA.

The "Million Dollar Man" Ted DiBiase?s DVD will be two discs and will be hosted by his son Ted, Jr. It?s due to be released on June 28th.

WWE's Goldberg DVD has been put on hold.

WWE Classics is airing an NWA telecast from 1987 where current WWE Vice President John Laurinaitis is at ringside as The Sheepherders? flag boy, Johnny Ace.

At an autograph signing in his hometown of Glens Falls, NY, Jim Duggan was telling fans that he will be inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame this year.

Brendan Harris of the Minnesota Twins posted the following on Twitter this past weekend: "Hacksaw Jim Duggan and I went back to upstate NY to raise money for Ronald McDonald house charities. He?s the best. If you?re not a fan of Hacksaw, you probably don?t like Santa Claus, the Easter Bunny or America."

A. J. Styles was at the Wild Bill's MMA fights Saturday night in Duluth, GA. He watched the show from start to finish and was said he was having fun.

The Wrestling Observer Newsletter is reporting that TNA star A. J. Styles is a financial backer of a new MMA promotion, Fight Fusion Entertainment. The group starts up on February 18th in Gainesville, GA at the Georgia Mountain Center, the old home of WCW tapings in the 1990s. The actual promoter of the shows is Styles? brother.

With the planned return of the Main Event Mafia in the works for weeks, TNA creative was forced to call an audible at last night?s "TNA iMPACT!" television tapings in Orlando, FL. New ideas were quickly drawn up Sunday night once former Main Event Mafia members Kevin Nash and Booker T returned to WWE to be surprise entrants in the Royal Rumble match. Without Sting, Booker T, and Nash, the Mafia was merged with Fortune. There is an internal feeling Kevin Nash screwed them, as TNA was led to the planned return date of the Main Event Mafia. In fact, some now believe Nash did this intentionally to get back at TNA because of the way he felt the company had treated him. There were originally plans for A. J. Styles to go babyface, but the Fortune turn wasn?t planned until Sunday night.

Ric Flair arrived in Glasgow, Scotland for Thursday's TNA house show and apologized to the locker room for his outburst in Dublin, Ireland.

PWInsider.com is reporting that Ric Flair was not backstage at Monday?s "TNA iMPACT!" tapings in Orlando, FL and was not on the run sheet for that night's or Tuesday's tapings. Speculation has already begun that Flair could be done with the company after what went down this past week on the European tour.

The Wrestling Observer is reporting that Ric Flair suffered a torn rotator cuff on Saturday night in his match with Douglas Williams.

TNA's "Against All Odds" pay-per-view on February 13th in Orlando, FL is right now scheduled to have Mr. Anderson vs. Jeff Hardy in a Ladder Match and Kurt Angle vs. Jeff Jarrett. Ads for the show list this as "Angle's first match this year," which is funny since he just wrestled on television Thursday night.

Here are some notes from the TNA Fan Interaction from Friday in Manchester, England. The session was superbly organized with Beer Money, Ric Flair, Rob Van Dam, Mickie James, Rob Terry, and Jeff Hardy attending. Matt Hardy was there for a few minutes but then disappeared, saying he had to do interviews. The cost was 25 pounds ($39.70) which included a free program (they were selling them for 12 pounds at the show). RVD was exceptionally friendly. Flair was reserved but accommodating to everyone. 300 fans paid for it. Most of the crowd were males 18-30, far more adults by percentage than at a WWE show. Dixie Carter was very friendly in posing for photos and signing autographs. Most of the matches were standard fare but Chris Sabin vs. Kazarian for the X title and Beer Money vs. British Invasion were both very good.

Mick Foley posted on Twitter noted that it was 12 years ago last Wednesday when he had the I Quit match with The Rock in Anaheim at the Royal Rumble in 1999, that was immortalized in the movie "Beyond the Mat."

Oliver Humperdink posted on his Facebook page that he had a biopsy on Friday and said he could use prayers. Humperdink was one of wrestling's top managers in the 70's and 80's, known best in Florida, but worked all over North America.

There is a You Tube video of Paul Orndorff talking about his cancer. You can watch the video by clicking here.

Some notes from WrestleReunion in Los Angeles, CA. From Saturday, everyone was friendly. Ken Patera and Jim Neidhart were out of the Battle Royal because Patera's back was hurting and Neidhart did extra signing and as a bonus got out of the Battle Royal. Something like 1,200 fans attended and the event was a huge success and they are going to come back to Los Angeles for a third year in 2012. Colt Cabana had the best bargain with $5 for an autograph and photo. Billy Graham was in better shape than people expected. Bret Hart had long lines. Roddy Piper also signed a ton of stuff. Tito Santana was in the best shape physically of the older wrestlers. Also, Jackie Gayda was there unannounced with husband Charlie Haas and Shelton Benjamin. Shad Gaspard was also there with Benjamin. El Generico and Davey Richards were signing. Harley Race missed his first scheduled appearance but was there for his second. Rock Riddle did a big promo talking about how he and Terry Funk would win the Battle Royal together. There were Roddy Piper & Bob Orton, Jr. together in a replica "Piper's Pit" and a Hart Foundation reunion with Bret Hart, Jim Neidhart, Jimmy Hart, and Danny Davis with replica WWE tag titles. The Hart Foundation reunion drew a lot of people. The Insane Clown Posse roamed the floor and were giving out free photos and autographs to anyone that asked. Roddy Piper brought two of his children, his daughter, who is an actress, and his son Colt, an MMA fighter.

Roddy Piper ended up with a black eye from the Battle Royal in Los Angeles on Saturday, from a shot by Terry Funk. The story that the two had never wrestled before is incorrect. They had one match against each other in 1983 in Toronto.

Earl Kennedy was interviewed for KTEN about the issues surrounding his ongoing battles with weight. He was 913 lbs. at his heaviest and has dropped to 498, but hopes to be able to qualify for "The Biggest Loser" to go even further. You can watch the interview by clicking here.

Oklafan extends its condolences to the family and friends of Johnny Heidemann, who passed away on January 27th at the age of 90.
