NEWS
"WWE Friday Night SmackDown!" head writer Michael Hayes is on thin ice right now. Vince McMahon is very unhappy with the Smackdown ratings in recent weeks and has not been a fan of the show recently at all. Christopher DeJoseph who was fired last week is said to be a close friend of Hayes and his firing is being called a warning shot. If Hayes is let go he would be one of numerous writers who has been cut in recent weeks as WWE try?s to overhaul the current product.

After cameras stopped rolling at "WWE Monday Night RAW" on November 29th, Wade Barrett called out John Cena and the two brawled while Mark Henry and Daniel Bryan came out to help take out Nexus. Afterward, Cena led the crowd in singing happy birthday to Jerry Lawler and all the Divas came out carrying a cake for the Hall of Famer. With the Divas putting pieces of cake on Lawler's face, Cena entered the ring and tried to dump the cake on the Divas but the cake took a slide and ended up on the ring as the Divas quickly exited the ring. Cena started grabbing the cake from the mat and threw cake all over the place as some of the Divas who stayed in the ring returned the favor! You can check out the whole cake party by clicking here.

Jerry Lawler was the Grand Marshall of the Memphis Christmas Parade this past Saturday night.

Several sources reported that TNA World Champion Jeff Hardy showed up at the "Final Resolution" pay-per-view in Orlando, FL on Sunday in no condition to wrestle, looking very tired with TNA officials being concerned about his health and the idea of taking him off the show and stripping him the title was also discussed. Reports suggest that the planned substitute match was going to be Matt Morgan vs. Jeff Jarrett vs. Mr. Anderson for the vacated TNA World title however after the champ met with management it was decided to go ahead with the original match. Jeff ? who had his own personal problems in the past - attributed the bad shape he was in to tiredness stemming from the recent tour in Abu Dhabi as well as appearances that followed in the U.S. immediately after returning home.

A note from the show in Mt. Pleasant, MI by World Pro Wrestling. The original format for the wrestling episode of the Bob Sagat A&E show that airs on Tuesday was to follow five independent wrestlers which would lead to the best of them appearing on a Dragon Gate show. An interesting note is that one of the people in the contest was Chimera, who is ring announcer Ricardo Rodriguez in WWE. The show was taped to be a one hour show, but is now 30 minutes so it could have changed quite a bit. Christina Von Eerie, Luke Hawx, Jason Redondo, Johnny Yuma, Erik Watts, and Extreme Loco were those trying out. Roddy Piper and SoCal Pro Wrestling were also featured as well as a backyard wrestling promotion were all taped for segments, but not sure what will and won't air.

On January 29th, Texas Championship Wrestling is set to debut in Tyler, TX. They are advertising Doink the Clown as one of the stars that will be competing and the picture of Doink that is on their website (TexasChampionshipWrestling.net) is that of the original Doink, Matt Borne. But Borne auctioned off his Doink wig and costume at the NWA Southwest show in Gainesville, TX this past summer. No word as to if Borne will be donning the Doink costume, or Dusty Wolfe, who portrays Doink in and around Texas, or someone entirely different.

There is another show in Odessa, TX on February 25th that has the same situation. The pictured Doink is of Matt Borne in the WWF days but again, Borne auctioned off his Doink wig and costume last summer.
