NEWS
NWA Southwest posted two videos to You Tube recently. The first one is of NWA Texas Heavyweight Champion Charlie Haas calling out NWA National Champion Phil Shatter, calling Shatter a coward. The second video is of Shatter responding to Haas. A match has been set between the two for the NWA National Title on November 13th in Sherman, TX. You can view the video with Haas by clicking here. You can view the video of Shatter by clicking here.

During the KJRH channel 2 news on October 10th, they ran a segment about the Admiral Twin Drive-In Benefit Show at the Rose Bowl Event Center. During the segment, they ran a brief clip of a match between Sam Stackhouse and Chris Morrison. MERC ran their first show at the event and the Stackhouse-Morrison match was part of the 5pm matches.

Edge will be feiding with Jack Swagger on "WWE Friday Night SmackDown!"

The October 1st "WWE Friday Night SmackDown!" live telecast in Oklahoma City reportedly drew 9,000 fans. Two days later, WWE reportedly drew 7,500 fans to the "Hell In a Cell" pay-per-view event in Dallas, TX. That figure was described as terrible PPV attendance given the market. The show's premiere on SyFy pulled in a 1.74 rating with an average of 2,524,000 viewers for the two hour broadcast. WWE issued a press release saying that the show was the most watched on Friday night during its timeslot since 2008 and it had 91% more viewers than the cable channel had in the same spot last week. The press release also pimps the fact that in the first hour Smackdown delivered more Men 18-49 than ABC, CBS, NBC and Fox and more Men 25-54 than Fox and ABC. During the second hour of the broadcast, SmackDown delivered more Adults 18-49 and Adults 25-54 than Fox, more Men 25-54 than Fox and CW, and more Men 18-49 than Fox, CW and NBC.

The cover of WWE's "Top 50 Superstars of All Time" features The Rock, Eddie Guerrero, Pat Patterson, The Big Show, Edge, Jerry Lawler, Gorilla Monsoon, John Cena, Jimmy Snuka, Dusty Rhodes, Mr. Perfect, Terry Funk, Roddy Piper, Ricky Steamboat, Steve Austin, The Undertaker, Sgt. Slaughter, Kane, Randy Orton, Ted DiBiase, Triple H, The Junkyard Dog, The Fabulous Moolah, Jake Roberts, Rey Mysterio, and Shawn Michaels.

A commercial for TNA?s November pay-per-view "Turning Point" aired in some markets during last week's "TNA iMPACT!" and advertised Rob Van Dam vs. Kurt Angle for the TNA World Title along with Abyss vs. Sting.

Mick Foley's book signing in Lexington, KY scheduled for October 8th was postponed until October 19th. The bookstore where the signing was scheduled said that Foley was injured and had to reschedule.

There is a video of Mick Foley doing imitations of Terry Funk and Vince McMahon. You can view the video by clicking here.

Eric Bischoff was a guest on Monday Night Mayhem on October 4th and had this to say about WWE promoting Mick Foley?s new book (Countdown To Lockdown) on WWE.com & on WWE television: ?In terms of the promotion that it?s getting, I think it?s great for Mick obviously, because the WWE is a promotional machine, and them putting it out there & promoting it to their fanbase is a great opportunity for Mick. How it?s happening? Why it?s happening? I really don?t know. It could have been a pre-existing deal with Mick, because of the books he?s published previously with the WWE. It could be a ?one-off? deal. I would imagine it?s a business transaction, because the WWE doesn?t do anything, nor should they, if it doesn?t benefit them as a company.? You can listen to the entire interview with Bischoff at the Monday Night Mayhem website, MondayNightMayhem.com.

ProWrestling.net is reporting that Bruce Prichard, a former WWE employee and member of Vince McMahon's inner circle, has reportedly joined TNA Wrestling. Prichard is now reportedly a member of TNA's production staff and did attend an agents meeting which was held last week. Prichard was involved with a TNA meeting held last Thursday in Orlando in preparation for the live "TNA iMPACT!" on Spike. He was released by WWE in December 2008 and had been off and on with the company for nearly 22 years

Former AWA Superstars of Wrestling promoter Dale R. Gagner came out in City Pages last week. The story is about Dale going through rehab and coming out publicly as gay. It is also about his long history of using the AWA name as his own, and some of the complaints his former business associates have about him. You can read the entire story by clicking here. The print version of the story states that Verne Gagne is Dale?s father. That inaccuracy has been removed from the online version of the story. AWA Superstars of Wrestling ran two shows in Oklahoma in 2001.

A DVD discussion of pro wrestling is available from the Dan Gable wrestling museum for $20.
