JR's Blog: Michael Cole..Ideas From Fans..Eastbound & Down..Bruno @ 75..Batista vs. Lashley..Free T Shirt w/ Case Orders

It's a great day to order some JR's Original BBQ Sauce or Hot BBQ Sauce and some Chipotle Ketchup along with our awesome 97% Fat Free Beef Jerky right here on line in our store. You order today and we will ship it no later than tomorrow. Random thoughts...

It would appear that Michael Cole, new persona and all, will be joining the Smackdown broadcast crew. Cole is becoming the busiest man in show biz. I can't see Michael coming off Raw but who knows? His new, evolving persona is one of the more interesting facets to WWE TV these days.

As I have written, I was a huge fan of HBO's Hard Knocks and their 24/7 series that airs prior to major boxing events. These programs are essentially promotional tools to establish the stars who are preparing to engage in competition and why we should emotionally invest in said stars. Pro Wrestling in general can do a much better job of utilizing the HBO concept in TV persona building of the stars that are chosen to be featured.

Personal issues between characters that fans truly care about draw TV ratings and ticket/PPV sales. It's a simple theory that I personally believe in and it's also a theory that needs to be nurtured (slo-smoked) and not knee jerked and force fed to a TV audience.

Some fans feel dissed when wrestling promotions refuse to accept ideas from fans who are usually well meaning when attempting to submit storyline ideas, etc. The simple fact is that accepting concepts from fans can potentially lead to law suits in our litigiously aggressive society. I've seen this happen where a fan said they submitted an idea that happened to be used independently of the submission but who tried to sue for damages. Too many people are looking for an easy pay day for any company to be stupid enough to accept ideas from fans and be so naive to think that the fans will never seek compensation in an area that is essentially impossible to monetize.

Kenny Powers on HBO's Eastbound and Down second episode of the new season broke out 'Real American' ala Hulk Hogan for Powers entrance and even did the DX Crotch Chop. Kenny Powers reminds me of dozens of old school wrestlers that I've known over the years.

Happy Birthday to Bruno Sammartino who is 75 today. Bruno and Cowboy Bill Watts got three main events against each other in Madison Square Garden back in the day and headlined the last WWWF event in the old MSG as I have been told. That last match in the old Garden set a box office record for the historic venue.

Twitter question...Will Rock ever wrestle again in WWE? That's a Rock/WWE call but I think not. Could Dwayne Johnson make an on camera appearance on Raw, for example? Sure but donning the tights again is highly unlikely.

Will Batista ever fight Bobby Lashley in a MMA fight? I'd love to see it but Batista is still training and Lashley's MMA career seems to be at a crossroads. Plus, some enterprising promoter would have to come up with the right financial deal which might be challenging.

Twitter...No I did not make a mistake on Adrian Peterson. TV pundits might call him AP but his nickname since childhood has been AD meaning Adrian can run 'All Day' long. The Vikings #28 will always be AD to me. I had a nice visit with him Saturday in Dallas at the Cotton Bowl.

Twitter question...Would HBK vs. Sting have been the best match of all time? That's impossible to answer for many reasons including time and place. I find it hard to believe that any match involving HBK would exceed his WM25 bout with Undertaker.

Remember that we are still offering a FREE T shirt with any case order. Share a case with a friend and get FREE swag and FREE Shipping.

Twitter question...Do I think that the Cena/Nexus storyline is already going awry? Hell, no. It's only had one episode of TV and I'm not smart enough to judge any evolving storyline with only a few minutes of TV time.

Twitter question...Does Paul Bearer's return to TV mean that managers are back in vogue. Nope. I think that most in the wrestling biz has moved on, wisely or not, from ringside managers. I still think that some updated manager roles have a viable place in today's biz.

We appreciate you stopping by. I'm sore but feeling great. We appreciate all the well wishes. Thanks for all the support in all we do here on line especially in our store.

Q&A's are updated...go read em for more 'dirt.' :)
