Mick's Blog: 3 Crazy Days

I guess you could call it the plug heard 'round the world. I actually almost missed it when Michael Cole first said my name, and didn't really catch on until the King followed up on the Cole mention of the new book. Certainly, it was surreal; I don't think there has ever been an instance of someone on an opposing show getting a shoutout from WWE. I guess there are alot of people speculating as to what Vince's motives might be. I'm leaning toward the idea that Vince sometimes does things just to be nice, and that the winds must have been blowing in a favorable direction on Monday morning. I think Vince deep down genuinely likes me and respects me and was just trying to do what felt right to him. I am very appreciative of the support, and quite honestly, can really use it. It's a tough time for books, and even fans who really, really like me may be inclined to feel that three memoirs is quite enough. The book has been getting good buzz though, and has gotten good reviews from a few unlikely scources, such as Publisher's Weekly and Booklist. I think the vast majority of fans who give it a try are going to realloy enjoy it.

I certainly hope the announcement of the upcoming movie lived up to thhe hype I created as far as "huge" announcements go. It certaily felt huge to me. I am thrilled to be working with Union Square Media on this project and look forward to writing and collaborating with director Christopher Scott in order to put forth a project that wrestling fans can be proud of. Rumor has it that the interest among Hollywood female leads, looking to play the love interest of the Hardcore Legend has been anemic..I mean incredible..

Speaking of incredible - the reaction to the piece I wrote for www.slate.com about my admiration for Tori Amos has been just that! I am so flattered by the kind words of so many readers, any of whom were not familiar with me at all, as a wrestler, or a writer. I read a really nice article on the website www.jezebel.com that offered many other words of praise. Thanks to Slate for letting me tell that story. And thanks in advance to Jason Pinter of the Huffington Post for taking the time to do a great story.

Tonight's the night! Finally, the airing of my promo with the Nature Boy Ric Flair. As I mentioned on Twitter @realmickfoley and on my www.tnawrestling.com weblog, This promo represents one of my all time favorite career moments - not for what viewers will see on their TV sets, but for how excited the verbal exchange made me feel about wrestling and TNA. Unless I am completely misreading this thing, there will be alot of jaws dropping as Ric and I go face to face, and the emotions and adrenaline get flowing in the Impact Zone. Tell a friend!

Countdown to Impact: 21 hours. Countdown to Countdown: 33 hours.
Countdown to Last Man Standing: 8 days.
