The funeral for Skandar Akbar was on August 24th in Wichita Falls, TX. Jim Ross was in attendance and was reportedly the only member of either the WWE staff and roster or the TNA staff and roster that attended the ceremony.

Jim Ross wrote on Twitter: "Just left Scandor Akbar?s funeral service in Wichita Falls, Texas. Dan Hodge & several Dallas based wrestlers attended. He was a beloved guy."

Mattel has announced that a mid 80's era WWE ring will be released early next year and will come packed with an exclusive figure of Andre the Giant.

Mattel?s Hall of Fame series hit K-Mart stores on Saturday morning and included Steve Austin, Ricky Steamboat, Dusty Rhodes, Jimmy Snuka, Sgt. Slaughter, and Terry Funk. K-Mart also had a sale on DVDs as well as offering a classic WWF t-shirt that features Legends such as Ricky Steamboat, Ted DiBiase and others.

One match has been confirmed for WWE's upcoming "Greatest High Flyers" DVD is The Great Muta vs. Sting from the WCW and New Japan Supershow in Tokyo, Japan.

On August 22nd, Jake ?The Snake? Roberts wrestled his final match at the "Live And Let Die" show promoted by Squared Circle Wrestling held at the Watertown Fairgrounds Arena in Watertown, NY. Following his win against Zaquary Springate III, Roberts took the mic and said that recently his father passed away and he spent 35 years in the wrestling business to prove to his dad that he can do it. Jake said it doesn?t matter anymore now because he?s gone and announced his retirement adding that as you get older your health starts to go too. An emotional Jake Roberts then left the ring and headed quickly to the back as the fans in the arena clapped showing their appreciation. ?The Snake? often credits WWE and Vince McMahon for saving his life by paying for his rehab programs following several bouts with drug and alcohol addiction. Roberts last appeared on WWE television in March 2005 on Monday Night RAW where he was on the receiving end of an RKO courtesy of Randy Orton. He also appeared twice in TNA at Bound For Glory in 2006 and Slammiversary in 2008. He is considered to be one of the greatest wrestlers who never held any kind of title in both WWE and WCW. However, East Texas Championship Wrestling announced last week that Roberts would take on Byron Wilcott on their September 4th event. No word if Roberts will be replaced or will wrestle on the card.

Oklafan was saddened to learn of the death of Luna Vachon. Luna, whose real name was Gertrude, was found dead at her mother's home Friday morning. She was just 48 years old. Details of her death are still unknown as of this time but Vachon was going through some tough times after her house burned down a while ago and moved in her with her mother. She was the daughter of Butcher Vachon, the niece of WWE Hall of Famer Mad Dog Vachon, and the former wife of pro wrestlers Dick Slater and David Heath (AKA Gangrel). Vachon worked for WWE between 1992 and 1994, most notably serving as the manager of Bam Bam Bigelow and challenging Alundra Blaze (AKA Madusa) for the WWF World Women?s Title. She then moved to ECW and was involved in the Tommy Dreamer/Raven feud at the behest of Woman before signing with WCW in 1997 to again pursue her issue with Madusa. She returned to WWE later that year and achieved some of her greatest notoriety as the manager of Goldust and a member of the Oddities, but was released in 2000 following a backstage incident. Last year she was honored at the 44th annual Cauliflower Alley Club reunion and presented with the "Ladies Wrestling Award." Vachon has one documented appearance in Oklahoma, wrestling Sherri Martel to a Double DQ at an OPW/SSoW event in Tulsa. Oklafan extends its condolences to Vachon?s family and friends
