JR's Blog: Free T Shirt w/ Case orders...Random Thoughts...

Good of you to stop by our website. We appreciate the support. Let's grill....

Random Thoughts from here and there....

Enjoyed NXT Tuesday night. Thought Cole & Mathews did a really nice job on the show as their personalities seem to mesh well and they sound comfortable. Cole's 'bashing' of Daniel Bryan has made Bryan much more topical which seems to be the point. Cole is thrown under the bus by some fans way too much as working on three, weekly shows is a huge undertaking.

Even though Husky Harris and Percy Watson being eliminated did not shock me, I feel that both have marketable upsides and in time can be assets in WWE. Any rookie's journey is a process and a long one at that as I still am under the belief that it takes a solid 3-5 years to fully develop a new, main event level star in the biz....if they are blessed with skill and a little luck.

I do like the promos that the NXT talents deliver. Some are better than others, naturally, but hearing what they sound like in that environment feels 'fresh' to me and makes for unpredictable and reality based TV.

The new tag title belts and name, WWE Tag Team Titles, makes a great deal of sense to me. Some emailers did not like the design of the titles but I had zero issue with that matter. As I have said in the past, I'm not a 'belt guy.'

TMZ really likes WWE which is a good thing. We watch TMZ nightly. Simple concept that is easy to watch and entertaining. Most good ideas/concepts are simple ones.

Looking forward to UFC in Boston which is two days before the 900th Monday Night Raw in the same arena in 'Bean Town' as the late Gorilla Monsoon used to say. I still think that Randy Couture makes short work of James Toney but I'm interested enough in this attraction that I won't miss it. Kind of like a car crash where one is compelled to 'rubber neck.'

Some pro wrestling fans put too much emphasis on win/loss records and not enough on the overall performance of a bout. Steve Austin didn't win too many bouts when he first arrived in WWE and his career seemed to work out pretty well. I even remember 'losing streaks' of guys like Barry Horowitz and Mike Boyette back in the day helping make both wrestlers more relevant.

Emailer...yes...absolutely our BBQ Sauces are great burger toppings. either in the burger patties or as a topping once the burgers are grilled. The Chipotle Ketchup is also a hit on or in the burgers and is my personal favorite.

When asking for advice on preparing ribs be sure and indicate if you are using a smoker or a grill as it does make a difference. However, the tired and true advice on preparing ribs will always be 'low and slow.'

Emailer...yes Danny Hodge wrestled Lou Thesz many, many times. Most of their bouts generally went to a time limit draw including several 90 minute draws. Hodge even beat Lou once in Japan, when that RARELY occurred, that really helped establish Dan there. Hodge was one of the few men that 'hooker' Thesz knew that Lou couldn't exploit. Both men had great, mutual respect for the other.

Still working with Federal Express on the potential to ship our goods to Canada. I'm awaiting on a proposal from Fed X as we speak. Nothing is guaranteed on the Canadian matter but I am working on it.

The new, Big 12 will be just fine in responding to another emailer. Next year every team in the league will play the other and in hoops each team will play home and home. Losing Nebraska hurts as does Colorado to a somewhat lesser degree but each team playing the other every year works for me.

Remember that our new offer on any case of product ordered from this site will get you an addition freebie, a JR's T shirt which is a $20 value. FREE SHIPPING is included in the USA.

Chael Sonnen has put himself into a viable position within the world of UFC with his performance against the #1 ranked fighter in the world, Anderson Silva. BTW Sonnen lost but became a bigger star coming out of the match than he was going into it. Silva's people don't seem too anxious for a rematch but all their rhetoric simply adds to the prefabricated, Brazilian mystique and to the motivation for structuring a rematch. All Silva's people's sound bytes just help make the rematch more desirous and with Anderson being paid partially on pay per view buys one has to assume that this contest will eventually occur, albeit after some wrangling, in 2011. I think that a well promoted, well timed rematch between Sonnen-Silva could possibly do 1M pay per view buys.

Landmark week for WWE with events in Hawaii, Japan, and the first ever event in China which is hugely significant in their Global brand building. There will be some mighty weary travelers upon returning home from this jaunt especially coming off Summer Slam activities and Monday Night Raws.

Bret Favre will practice Wednesday for the Vikings. The 40 year old's return isn't a surprise as he has unfinished business to attempt to handle in the form of a Super Bowl victory but getting to the NFL's Promised Land isn't easy. I don't have a favorite NFL team, OU takes all my football energies, but I do follow the game closely and especially keep an eye on the many NFL teams that have ex-Sooners on their roster.

The Q&A section of our site is updated and I will soon be writing a new Ross Report for www.wwe.com which can always be found on the home page under the 'WWE News' tab.

Thanks again for paying us a visit and be sure to follow our Tweets @JRsBBQ.
