Mick's Blog: 7/30/2010

India wa a wonderful trip; eye-opening, educational, professionally gratifying, a tremendous culinary experience. But....it sure is nice to be home. I am in Roanoke, Virginia now, getting ready to head out to Winston Salem, North Carolina, after a short stop at the Waffle House. So, I guess if you move quick, and check out all the waffle House's in Roanoke in the next 30 minutes, there is a chance you could spot the Hardcore Legend - suspiciosly eating a little healthier than usual. Going for the grilled chicken and egg-whites instead of the scattered, covered, smothered, chunked and topped hashbrowns. Hmm, could this be a sign of a return to the ring? Or possibly a venture into the world of "Yoga for Real Guys", better known as "YRG", the brainchild of my future fitness guru and good buddy, DDP? Or possibly both.

Did I mention the traffic in India? Just insane! Anyone who thought I was in possession of some kind of overabundant supply of intestinal fortitude, should have seen me in the passenger seat while we navigated through the streets of Mumbai and Delhi; the cacaphony of non-stop horn blasting, bumper to bumper driving as a way of life, venders hawking their wares, and even an occasional cow or two in the middle of the road making the Cross Bronx Expressway at rush hour look like a gentle country road. Just crazy.

So imagine what a relief it is to be doing 75mph through the scenic highways of Virginia in a rented Charger, the Sirius radio on Outlaw Country - just glad to remember what it's like to be driving for fun..and some well needed solitude. I love travelling. I love seeing new countries and new ways of life, embracing new customs, and learning about new people, including the hardships they face. But, man, this is one beautiful country we live in.

A couple of quick wrestling thoughts, probably better suited for tweets, if I ever get around to those.

1) The Impact Zone seems genuinely fired up for "Hardcore Justice". I had my doubts when I heard about the idea, but the more I walk around airports, restaurants and gyms (just kidding about that one) the more I hear the enthusiasm from the fans. To them, and to everyone participating, this is definitely not just another show.

2) The series of matches between the Motor City Machine Guns and Beer Money is state of the art tag-team wrestling. I love the emphasis TNA is putting on the tag-team division, and I love the fact that the teams have been given enough time to really get the job done. On a selfish note, I hope the Guns continue to get the time they deserve, since I write quite a bit about them in my upcoming book, so it kind of makes me look intelligent to see them doing so well. Wait, what's that yoiu say? You didn't know I had a new book coming out on October 1st, called "Countdown to Lockdown"? Why yes, I do, and I'll make sure I write about it in more length (alot more) in upcoming weblogs.

3) The TNA live wrestling events have really taken off. Not only is attendance up, but fans are having a great time, and due to the promotional wizardry of the fine-smelling Don West, merchandise is all but flying off the shelves.

There you go, a few quick wrestling thoughts. I will have plenty to keep you updated on, including my upcoming role on "Warren the Ape" on MTV, my involvement in a horror movie spoof (you can check out a preview on facebook.com/realmickfoley) and even the origin of a major motion picture based on the life of someone near and dear to your hearts.

That's all for now...there are waffles (and egg-whites, and grilled chicken) that need my attention.
