The Scoop

The Scoop

NEWS
Ted DiBiase was recently interviewed by Hardcore Sports Radio. He talked about "Being on the fence" about his son Ted Jr.'s new character in WWE, which mimmicks his own. He also touched upon his son Mike (who he doesn't have much contact with and wishes he took a different path in his wrestling career) and Brett (who is recovering from a torn ACL and Ted Sr. feels he will crack the roster by December). You can download the podcast of the interview by clicking here.

Jim Ross wrote about of his Florida Championship Wrestling experience on his Twitter page: "Just left fcw tv taping. 3 solid shows. Kaval-Riley match on 3rd hour was stellar. Percy Watson an athletic freak. No lack of effort by all."

Jim Ross also posted on his Twitter the following about Jerry Brisco and Ricky Steamboat: "Saw old friend Jerry Brisco tonite @ fcw. FCW TV has an updated, old school feel. BTW Ricky Steamboat out of hospital. Missed him by a day."

Bret Hart returned back to "WWE Monday Night RAW" in Tulsa on July 21st and joined John Cena's team of seven WWE Superstars that will be taking on the Nexus at SummerSlam in a 7 on 7 tag match. Cena introduced his team - consisting of Edge, Chris Jericho, John Morrison, R-Truth, The Great Khali and Bret Hart - at the end of RAW to big ovation from the crowd. The Nexus seven quickly hit the stands as their opponents ran to the ring looking for some action. Hart was taken out by the Nexus during an episode of RAW at the end of May and Vince McMahon stripped him off the General Manager role. Hart later admitted on his Facebook blog that he doesn't know what his future holds in the WWE.

Randy Orton got himself a ticket for the main event at SummerSlam by defeating Edge and Chris Jericho during "WWE Monday Night RAW" from Tulsa in a triple threat match. Orton RKO'd both his opponents and then decided to cover his former tag team partner Edge for the win. He will now be wrestling WWE RAW World Champion Sheamus in one of the main events at the biggest event of the Summer. Orton's win was certainly welcomed by fans as he was the number one trending topic on Twitter on and off for the whole day, the first wrestler to do that so far.

"WWE Monday Night RAW" on July 21st, emanating from Tulsa, with the fallout from Money in the Bank pay-per-view drew a 3.4 rating off hours 3.09 and 3.68. That is up 0.1 from last week's broadcast. The show averaged 4,873,000 viewers, around 70,000 more than last week.

For the second year in a row, NBC will be airing a one hour WWE special titled WrestleMania XXVI: The World Television Premiere, airing on Saturday August 7 at 9PM EST. The special will feature highlights from WrestleMania XXVI set to music from today's hottest acts in one lightning-fast hour of family-friendly programming. NBC and WWE teamed up for a similar show last year broadcasting an hour of WrestleMania XXV in crystal clear high definition and this year's show will be no different. The highlight of the show will be the Undertaker vs Shawn Michaels main event which ended Shawn Michaels' career, two years after he - kind of - did the same to Ric Flair on the same stage.

Mattel's "WWE Legends 1" series is in stores now and includes Ricky Steamboat, Sgt. Slaughter, Steve Austin, Hawk, Animal, and Dusty Rhodes. "WWE Legends 2" series is scheduled for an early August release and will include Terry Funk, Jake Roberts, Rick Rude, The Iron Sheik, Jimmy Snuka, and Kamala.

At the "San Diego Comic Con", Mattel announced lineups for their future releases:

-WWE Legends Series 3: The Rock, Mr. Perfect, Brian Pillman, Davey Boy Smith. Vader, and Jim Duggan
-WWE Legends Series 4: Ultimate Warrior, George Steele, Paul Orndorff, Hillbilly Jim, Ax, and Smash
-WWE Legends 2-Pack Series 1: The Bushwackers (Butch & Luke), Nikolai Volkoff & Iron Sheik, and Roddy Piper & Bob Orton

Jakks Pacific's first line of TNA action figures are now in stores. The set includes Suicide, Sting, Jeff Jarrett, Samoa Joe, Kurt Angle and A. J. Styles.

TNA's "Legends of the Ring 1" series by Jakks Pacific is scheduled for a mid-August release and will include Sting, Kevin Nash, Kurt Angle, Hulk Hogan, and Jeff Jarrett.

Terry Taylor is apparently going to be training Reid Flair to get him ready for television on TNA.

Time Warner onDemand has the Kevin Nash vs. Mick Foley match from last year's "TNA Hard Justice" as a free onDemand match. Their commercial for this year's "Hard Justice" was cut before the ECW angle, and thus doesn't indicate anything about what the show has turned into.

Mick Foley's name has been attached to an independent film called "Savage Hot Babe Massacre," a parody horror/comedy looking for donations at IndieGoGo.com.

F4Wrestling.com provided the following information on a wrestling show in Pennsylvania which is making the internet rounds, due to the promoter not paying anyone: The deal was wrestlers were told they would be filming a movie and doing a wrestling show, and had booked Tommy Dreamer, Maven, Sean Morley, Al Snow, Raven, Larry Zbyszko, Baby Doll, David Sammartino, Shane Douglas, and Charlie Haas. They were supposed to have an afternoon awards ceremony, but which they did do even though nobody was there. There was a meet and greet but only about a dozen fans were there. Maybe 75 fans showed up. The ring crew had put up a ring and was taking it down before the show started because they weren't getting paid. They were talked into keeping the ring up, We thought the show never took place but it actually started about an hour late. I believe everyone but Raven worked. He refused unless he got paid, which didn't happen. Ironically, the promoter did get him a plane ticket at the last minute to show up, which isn't cheap. There was a guy giving wrestlers checks after but nobody trusted the check after the whole shooting a movie thing turned out to not be happening. The police ended up being called and the promoter, Keith Stoddard, blamed everything on the movie producer, who was supposed to fund the show, not having any money.

Bobby Eaton was released from an Arkansas hospital with a clean bill of health over the weekend. He was admitted last week with fluid around his heart.

Johnny Mantell was in attendance at the Insane Hardcore Wrestling Entertainment event in Fort Worth, TX on July 24th as a guest of fed owner David Fuller.

Speaking of Johnny Mantell, he started an internet radio show entitled "Mantell's Corral" on July 21st. The show focuses on wrestling and horse racing and airs live on Wednesday nights at 10pm and can be heard on the website BlogTalkRadio.com/CowboyJohnnyMantell.

Dusty Wolfe is ranked 8th in the Texas Wrestling Entertainment rankings released July 26th.

Dawn Marie, founder of Wrestler's Rescue, is under investigation for embezzling funds that she collected over the last couple of years. The money that has been raised to offer past and present wrestlers health care is now unaccounted for. According to reports, Dawn Marie used the money to flow all over to conventions in order to make profits for herself. It is also being speculated that not a single wrestler has seen a dime. No one can seem to find any records of any organization getting money from the funds raised. It is also being reported that in a fundraiser for ?Dr. Death? Steve Williams, the funds that were collected for him so he can get a device to help him speak never got to him before he died. If this is the case than this is a horrible crime that should not go unpunished. When Dawn Marie launched this charity it seemed that wrestlers may have finally had some hope in getting health benefits. It now looks like that will never happen and Dawn Marie may go down as one of the most disgraced names in the history of the business.

Michael Faith has replaced Spoiler 2000 as the challenger in the NWA Texas Heavyweight Title match against champion Chad Thomas at NW Southwest's "Parade of Champions Volume 10" event on August 14th in Gainesville, TX. No word as to why the challenger switch was made.

There is a new wrestling fed starting up in Florida that currently is being referred to as the "Sean Davis Project". They announced last week the signing of Jesse White, son of Big Van Vader. While Vader had already been signed, the signing of Jesse is interesting because most expected him to end up in WWE developmental because of his University of Oklahoma background and tie-in with Jim Ross. Jesse's only worked a few matches but those who have seen him believe he has potential. He was a great high school football player but had injuries that prevented him from playing in college.

Oklafan would like to congratulate Dane Griffin who surpassed 6 months as NWA Oklahoma Heavyweight Champion on July 23rd. He defeated Carnage for the title in a Triple Threat Match that also included Chad Thomas at an NWA Southwest/Panhandle Wrestling Federation event in Amarillo, TX.

Oklafan would also like to congratulate Goldeneye, who's cousin had a baby on July 26th.

Oklafan extends its condlences to J. P. Steele on the death of his great-uncle.
