JR's Blog: Husky..Perfect McGillicutty..NWA Legends Fanfest..Lesnar=Money..Raw GM..We Still Ship Your Orders FREE

Posted: Jul 8th 2010 By: CMBurnham

Hi everyone and thanks for dropping by our website. Just an FYI regarding shipping. We will ship all orders received this week at the latter part of next week due to travel matters. Just wanted to make sure everyone who reads this knows that their orders will be shipped ASAP beginning mid week, next week. Let's grill...

The 2nd NXT class is beginning to take shape in my eyes and from this fan's perspective. I still like Husky Harris among others. I think it was Michael Cole who said that Husky had an 'unusual body.' Unique description of the stocky 3rd generation athlete. I would suggest that Husky drop some LB's, I could do the same, but no one can deny that this kid isn't a special athlete who has noticeable quickness for, what I assume, is a 300 pounder. Husky at 260-270 might be at much better weight over the long haul but he's a keeper. I would refraining from any more tattoos if I were him but that's only one man's opinion.

I like McGillicutty as he reminds me of his dad Curt Henning. McGillicutty is appropriately 'Perfect' thus far on NXT. He could take some of Husky's pounds in a minor trading places of 3rd generation guys piece of business. This young man is another potential star.

Kaval has a unique look and I can see him having some off the page bouts some day with Rey Mysterio, among others. If I had Kaval's pipes, I might be looking for work doing voice overs or animated features. This man has paid many dues and I'm pleased that he's getting the opportunity that he has earned. Nonetheless he sounds like a shorter, James Earl Jones.

"Dashing" Cody Rhodes....wow. "Dashing?" Really?

Looking forward to being in Charlotte on August 5-6 for the NWA Legends Fanfest put on by Greg Price. I hope that you can attend our Thursday night BBQ and pick up some autographed bottles of our BBQ Sauces that will be available at the function and through out the weekend as long as supplies lasts. My inducting the greatest living wrestler, Danny Hodge, into the Hall of Heroes is a wonderful honor for me. Hodge was my boyhood wrestling hero and was the 'Mickey Mantle' of the mat in my young world.

Thanks to Southwest Airlines I will be traveling to KC for the Money in the Bank PPV on Sunday morning the day of the event. However, it looks like I will miss the Tulsa Raw the next day as I will be preparing to fly to Tampa to visit FCW that week. Tickets for Tulsa are out distancing KC at the moment. Tulsa's BOK Center is an awesome facility BTW.

Guys that work at the gym I go to are still "buzzing" about the Lesnar-Carwin fight that we attended this past Saturday night. There should be no doubt in anyone's mind who the top heavyweight in MMA is now. Brock is on the cusp of some great marketing opportunities would have to assume with his popularity and name identity never being better since he joined UFC. I expect the Lesnar fight to sell approximately 1.2 million PPV's and that figure might be a touch low. It is very likely that Lesnar will earn well north of 7 figures for his efforts once all the PPV and merchandise monies are accounted.

My TOPPS trading card was a big hit in Vegas as I signed several for fans and others that I met. You get a free, signed TOPPS trading card with many orders here on the site that say the order includes a free photo.

My wife and I enjoyed dinner Sunday night at the Mirage with Sam Bradford, yes the #1 pick in the NFL Draft, Heisman Trophy winner Sam Bradford, Colts draft pick TE Brody Eldridge, current Viking center Jon Cooper, 'Little Vader" Jesse White, and other former Sooners. It capped off a superb weekend especially with Brock Lesnar willing his way with guts and heart through a hellacious first round pounding from Shane Carwin to come back and win his fight in the second round.

WWE has reordered, for the third time, more JR's products as they apparently ran out of inventory last week or so an emailer told us. WWEShop.com ships to Canada, UK, and Germany as I understand it and they are stocking our Original BBQ Sauce and 97% Fat Free Beef Jerky. If you want them to stock other items, I suggest to just let them know via email.

We had dinner Friday night with Stone Cold and he never mentioned the RAW GM biz and if he had perhaps I would have tried harder to buy dinner as a means of trying to get back on the air on Monday nights. (That was humor so "Lighten Up, Francis.") I have no clue as to who will end up being revealed as the RAW GM but I'm enjoying the mystery. I think' that when its finally revealed that we will all likely be surprised, perhaps shocked, and it might not be who many of us have on our own list of viable candidates. I have received many emails asking who the secret GM is and I can't answer that question. Even if I knew, conclusively, why would anyone want me to spill the beans and spoil the surprise?

Yes....The Nexus is a little NWO like in many aspects except they are younger and have the majority of their careers ahead of them instead of behind them. I do think that the Nexus storyline is one of the better issues to come to RAW in quite some time and I refrain from over thinking the matter and am more than willing to tune in every Monday night and simply watch the group evolve. Remember, it's a TV show and not "serious TV" as in covering the oil spill in the gulf caused by the idiots of BP.

Nice use of Arn Anderson's interview skills on Raw Monday night or so I thought. Double A was always one of the best promo guys ever as his words came from his heart and his gut. I vividly remember when he came to work in Mid South Wrestling using the name Marty Lunde and he had hair and I was several pounds lighter. We've been friends ever since and I hope that Arn gets into the WWE Hall of Fame next year in Atlanta along with the Freebirds.

Before the emails roll in, yes, Double A would make someone a helluva 'manager' or mouth piece, but it certainly seems that the viable days of the wrestling manager have fallen by the wayside. I have discussed this matter at length in the Q&A section of this site and on previous blogs.

I heard a cool radio interview with The King this morning via www.PWInsider.com. My thanks to the guys in Cleveland for being customers of our products, recently purchased a case of Chipotle Ketchup, and to Jerry for mentioning our website. Nice of them all to promote our biz.

I've really been enjoying reading the editorials of both Kevin Kelly and Mark Madden on the 'net. I like to read other people's opinions of the biz especially those students of the game who are no longer immersed in the day to day minutia of the pro wrestling game. Kevin was a very underrated PXP talent and ROH is lucky to have him calling their PPV's. Madden's wit and natural timing has always been a hit with me. I would have loved to have broadcast back in the day with Madden as I think that we would have 'lit it up' even though the head honchos would have likely rather have seen two, 'stocky' dudes like us on the radio and not TV. Madden, like Paul Heyman, had a TV persona that was organically easy to dislike which is high praise for a wrestling villain. Kevin and I worked together in WWE and he was very easy and professional to work with, always came prepared and never failed to contribute to our broadcasts. My Sooners play KK's alma mater, Florida State, this fall in Norman and then go to Tallahassee in 2012 which should be a great, two game series for us college football freaks.

Remember, as I mentioned your orders placed over the next few days will be shipped next week. Plus, all those ordering cases of product will find something good but unexpected in your shipment. You will still get everything advertised but will find a 'bonus' in your shipment, as well. Be well and thanks for supporting us.

Boomer Sooner!
