NEWS
It was announced last week that NWA World Champion Adam Pearce will defend the title against Charlie Haas at NWA Southwest's "NWA Parade of Champions" on August 14th in Gainesville, TX.

NWA Southwest's most recent rankings for the NWA Texas Heavyweight Title, held by Chad Thomas, include Charlie Haas at #2, Spoiler 2000 at #5, Dane Griffin at #7, and Michael Faith at #9. Their rankings for the NWA Texas Junior Heavyweight Title, held by Gabe Himeros, has Cody Jones at #2, and Montego Seeka at #9.

WWE.com reported Thursday that Ricky Steamboat was hospitalized yesterday night after experiencing pain in his neck and shoulder. The website noted that Steamboat "performed a stunt" with other WWE Legends on RAW and at the moment it was not clear if the pain was related to his performance from RAW. Steamboat along with Michael Hayes, Jerry Lawler, Dean Malenko, and Arn Anderson were attacked by the Nexus group during a segment which was supposed to plug Steamboat's DVD release. WWE.com later added that according to medical officials, his condition is most likely not related to his involvement from Monday night and his medical prognosis is good to excellent.

WWE has offered a developmental deal to Joe Anoa'i from the famous Anoa'i wrestling family. Joe is the 25 year old son of WWE Hall of Famer Sika of The Wild Samoans. His brother Matt wrestled for WWE as Rosey and among his cousins is the former Rikishi. He played college football for Georgia Tech from 2003-2006 and was named first-team All-Atlantic Coast Conference in his senior year. After going undrafted in the 2007 NFL Draft, he was signed by the Minnesota Vikings, was later released, and was last known to be playing football for the Edmonton Eskimos in the Canadian Football League.

The main reason WWE has banned the Ric Flair style chops is because it reminds fans of Flair, and generally the whole building goes, "Whooo!" each time a chop is delivered. Arn Anderson was also scripted last week on RAW not to mention Flair among the greatest wrestlers.

There?s an interview with Jay Lethal talking getting a chance to work with Ric Flair, thoughts on Flair not retiring yet, his impersonations and how they've helped him, and more. You can read the entire story by clicking here.

The Trentonian also did a story on Jay Lethal getting his dream match next Sunday against childhood hero Ric Flair. You can read that story by clicking here.

Mick Foley is scheduled to return to TNA television full-time before the end of the summer.

The Miami Herald has a story on Abyss. In part of the story, he puts over Mick Foley. "Mick has always been someone I looked up to, even before I knew him,'' said Abyss. "Everything he has done for this business and brought to the table, not just for hardcore wrestling, the guy is pretty creative. I've never met a guy who is as witty and creative in his head. It's just the way he articulates himself." He added: "Working with him has been a dream come true. It was my dream match I never had until last year. To work with him after idolizing him and coming up in this business is an honor. As far as the hardcore stuff, I don't know if I can ever match what he has done. I'd like to come as close as I can. I have him up on this pedestal. He is the God of Gods when it comes to the hardcore stuff, and I will take a backseat to him when it comes to that any day." You can read the entire story by clicking here.

TNA creative team member Ed Ferrara was not at the "TNA iMPACT" TV tapings on June 28th in Orlando, FL and is reportedly done with the company according to multiple sources. No official announcement was made to the talent or members of the TNA staff on Monday or Tuesday, but the word that made the rounds at the tapings was that Ferrara is no longer working for TNA. Ferrara was rehired by TNA in September of 2009 and joined Vince Russo, Matt Conway, and Eric Bischoff at creative meetings. Ferrara worked with Russo in the WWF, before bolting to WCW along with Russo in the late 90's. The Wrestling Observer Newsletter reports that TNA has gotten more aggressive in their efforts in bringing in Paul Heyman, who is seeking the ultimate Dana White power.

Jake Roberts issued the following statement on an upcoming show where he has been falsely booked: "To my fans, friends, anybody else planning to show up August 15th, 2010 at Justin Credible's Pro Wrestling Icons II show in Cromwell CT. I won't be there. Any questions? Maybe YOU can get Justin to call you back. GOOD LUCK with that. Good luck if you are going, I'd sure make an advance inquiry as to who's really going to be there, or if there is really a show. I have no idea what has happened, except everyone that I have spoken with that is involved has abandoned ship. I got the message, I hope you do too."

Jim Ross, Steve Austin, Bill Goldberg, Dwayne Johnson (AKA The Rock), and Paul Heyman all made the trip to Las Vegas, NV to witness Brock Lesnar's return to the Octagon. Speaking to MMA Fanhouse, Jim Ross said that he was worried in the first round but he knew that Lesnar has great guts and determination not to mention a renewed spirit on life. He said that no other UFC heavyweight would have gone past that first round but Lesnar "weathered the storm." Ross added that he is very proud of him and he proved once again that he's the baddest SOB on the planet. When asked if anyone can beat Lesnar, Ross said that no one is unbeatable but Lesnar is a rare breed and an animal. Steve Austin said that he really enjoyed the fight and Brock showed a lot of heart. He knew that once Carwin went down there was no way out but he was surprised about the tap out. Austin declared Brock the best heavyweight in MMA. Paul Heyman, one of Lesnar's closest friends, was super excited about the win. "I need a medic," he said. Heyman was blown away by Brock's fight and gave "all credit in the world" to the referee for his officiating and not stopping the fight when Brock was down. "Anyone who questions his chin can shut the f**k up," Heyman exclaimed. Goldberg also gave his comments regarding the fight saying that he wasn't going to miss this one "to cheer my boy" for anything in the world. The former WCW champion said that Brock is a miracle walking for competing at this level considering what happened to him at the end of last year. He added that he's most proud of how Brock acted after the match, saying that Brock is a great human being, great husband, great father but a very emotional guy. Goldberg took a photo backstage of himself, The Rock and Steve Austin in Brock's locker room which you can see by clicking here.

Interviews with Steve Austin, Jim Ross, Bill Goldberg, and Paul Heyman at UFC 116 are available by clicking here.

Before leaving for Las Vegas to attend UFC 116, Jim Ross wrote on Twitter: "May hook up w/ a certain 'rattlesnake' in vegas this wk'end @ UFC event."

TMZ caught up with Bill Goldberg pool side at a hotel in Las Vegas before UFC 116. He was asked about pro wrestlers migrating towards UFC, who he was pulling for in the Brock Lesnar-Shane Carwin fight, and Mel Gibson. To see the whole video, click here.

Bill Goldberg also posted on Twitter: "One more blurb about last weekend......I ran into Gene Simmons at the airport and we had a bite to eat. What a great man. Truly an honor."

Victor Jovica, who has been part-owner of the World Wrestling Council for seemingly decades, claimed he was retiring after a match in Trinidad this past weekend. In the 80s, when wrestling was big in the country, Jovica was the local hero and would headline huge events against Ric Flair.

?Headlocked? creator Mike Kingston is producing a new trade paperback for the summer/fall convention season that will debut at the San Diego Comic Con, with a Jerry Lawler cover and an introduction by Christopher Daniels. The book won't be sold in stores or on-line. You can order through Twitter or Facebook only.

412PE Heavyweight Champion Michael H suffered a deep laceration as a result of the guitar shot during his title defense on Saturday night as the 412PE event in Greasy, OK. EMTs spent 30 minutes treating him after the show and he was taken to a hospital. Oklafan wishes him a speedy recovery.
